I've got a few good memories of this place, and probably a few that were blacked out. Riley's was never my favorite bar, but not because of the frat boys and sluts. Some of these reviews are obviously from people who are just bent because they didn't get enough attention. I never cared much for most frat boys even though I was one, but who doesn't love sluts? It hasn't really changed at all. It does get pretty nasty in there when it's crowded on a hot evening, and unless you're a regular or you tip really well, don't expect quick service on a busy night. This is the bar that shows up in the dictonary when you look for a college town bar. It is located just a few blocks away fron the CSU Chico campus and is rooted in every students 21st birthday tradition. I just so happened to come here for the first time when my sister turned 21. The must's are a AMF, stoplight shots and a BJ shot. There are plenty more drinks available and special nights like pitchers and buck night! Great place for a cheap good drink, good music and lots of people. I mean its packed and theres always a line. Gotta be good right? I am a regular at Rileys. I love coming in and seeing kelsi and Serena working. They are so amazing to me and great bartenders. But I came in and Serena wasn't there, we waited a lot longer than what we normally do and it was frustrating that she wasn't there. I miss the Serena and kelsi team!! read more

COLLEGE BAR!!! This place is not fancy. It is not known for pina coladas, margaritas or sex on the beach. BUT it has the best week night specials! Beer is always cheap and they have a good selection. Drinks are STRONG. No cover, and everyone is having a good time. If you like to people watch, this place is excellent. If you like music you can dance to, this is where you need to be. If you want to get drunk without spending too much cash its a MUST GO! So knowing what it was before I went in, I was very impressed. Now if you want something fancy, clean, quiet, or want to meet people that you might have lasting relationships with (you probably shouldnt be at a bar) you dont want to go to this place. It's a shame I can't rate this bar a 0. My sister and I used to come here because of dollar drink nights. The staff was pretty cool and had great service each time we went expect recently. We had been drinking there for over two hours, to watch a hockey game and relax. My sister went outside to check on one of our friends who was being harassed and was stopped at the door coming in. The bouncer/doorman took her id, bent it and proceeded to ask her several questions. She mentioned to him that she'd been here for hours with me and he continued to bombard her with questions. It was obvious by the way he was picking at her card that he thought it was fake as he tried peeling it apart. We left after that. We came back one last time and that same guy, Charles, was there. He took our IDs and started picking at my sister's again. He even asked her if he checked her card before, she told him yes.. that he had last week. He then proceeded to pick at it more and bombarding her with the same questions as before! It gets worse. I complained about the service and left with my sister. As we were waiting for out Uber, Charles came out and began yelling at my sister and I. He was cussing at us and being completely rude. He even told us we were never allowed there again and that he'd come to my workplace and tell me how to do my job. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any establishment and I will never recommend any of my lady friends to come here. Super unprofessional! I am shocked the owner would allow their workers to treat their customers like that!!! Reading other comments, this terrible customer service is incredibly common. Exceptionally awesome atmosphere ! Highly attractive people ! Highly recommend if you are an absolute ALPHA... WARNING ! Beer gets you drunk ! Amazing service and drinks... Can not guarantee that you will remember anything. Great pool day, be ware of hustlers. Highly recommend the sooner dog with extra bacon. Cleanliness of the joint is through the roof, 5 stars must clean at least 3 times a day top to bottom. Only bad thing, no reading material in bathroom for those long occasions. Overall can not hold Riley's accountable for any questionable decisions made here. Greatest bar of all time, I come here at least 5 days a week. Monday nights are my favorite however, the best crowd. Riley's - Bars Near Me - Chico, California

I only come to Rileys on Power Hour Thursdays, because shots start at 25 cents at 9:00pm and then go up every 15 minutes. HOWEVER, I prefer to stay away from Rileys only because the bar tenders are not that friendly and will skip selectively over people as they serve you. If you aren't in a fraternity or sorority, you basically get pushed to the end of the line, or so it seems. I enjoy sitting on top of the booths when my friends are in town and people watch. Again, its a great place to come if you want to pre-drink with your friends on a Thursday night before hitting up other spots downtown, but overall I haven't been there in almost a year because there are so many other good spots around! read more

I heard of this bar from one of my friends they said there was good food and service. When I arrived Inside I was greeted at the counter by a employee with the name of Derik. I felt completely degraded and worthless by his presence, he gave the look of "you gross peasants" I was faded and almost had to fight him with no regrets. He's a disgrace. read more

Now I'm not much for the drunken frat boy scene most days so I steer clear of this place when the sun goes down. However, they have an awesome lunch! You'll be safe from the students during daylight hours, they are either in class or recovering from last night's debauchery. I am chico alumni and have not been to Riley's since 2017 I decided to go out tonight with my group of friends to see how it is now. They check our Id's and let us in. After dancing and buying drinks 2hours go by and a random worker comes up behind me and aggressively tells me that I snuck in and need to leave while trying to push me away from my group. Another worker takes his side but we've never seen him he says that they switched shifts. He gave me no chance to speak as my group explained how long we've been in and finally another worker that was originally there finally tells him that I've been inside the entire time they let me go. I really don't appreciate how I was treated. I saw the workers yelling at other women as if they wanted to fight them. And another worker told our friend to stop being a weirdo just because he loves to dance. These workers are very young and unprofessional this is not how I wanted to experience Rileys after years. Second, I have had multiple occasions where my bank statement shows me that they charged me twice (and no I wasn't drunk). Literally just ordered my first drink for the night but got kicked out because my girlfriend apparently had too much to drink. Neither of us drank prior to coming but apparently her talking to me by being close to my ear is a bad sign. I give one star due to Riley's customer service. As a former Chico State student, Riley's was a popular spot for many of my friends. Unfortunately my last visit was a terrible experience. Bouncers at this bar are known to get pushy at closing time. I was physically pushed and even pulled by my arm by a bouncer twice my size. My boyfriend was pushed out the back door and physically abused by multiple bouncers. We were in a helpless situation and went as far as to hire an attorney. I have so many good memories of Chico, but because of that incident my boyfriend refuses to visit with me. It was commonly known among students that the bouncers were under the influence while on the job. Want to drink like a frat boy? Riley's is the place, at the corner of 5th and Ivy, they offer cheap drinks and specials are always in effect. The place can get crowded with people pouring out onto the streets but this is a must on your weekly bar crawl. read more

Happy hour at rileys is the place to go! If you don't care about waiting in line for more than 30-45 min for a cheap drink then you'd probably like this bar! Gets crowded on a Friday or Saturday! Great deals, but they favor their dealers. I am a frequent customer living very near this bar and was kicked out when a FIREBALL REP pushed me. I retaliated and was kicked out and not listened to over the stupid rep who obviously was too drunk to be there. They do not know who is in the bar. Let me start with the cons, or should I say con because there is only one. When I first walked in...the place smelled like vomit; other than that, great college town atmosphere, this place gets packed weekend nights. Tuesdays: Buck night from 9-close (every well drink and domestic beer is $1), Thursdays: power hour from 9-10, drinks start at 25 cents and go up 25 cents every 15 minutes (maximum $1), Friday: $5 Fridays ($5 food and pitchers of your choice, whether it be beer or well drinks), and Sundays: Sunday Funday and buck hour. My favorite bar in Chico. The staff is awesome. Carlos is a very knowledgable bartender and gives awesome customer service. Prices are great. Atmosphere is awesome. Definitely a college bar, but when schools out its much more laid back. They won't let you drink and drive & will call you a cab if you need it. Security doesn't mess around with the underage so no worries of jail time, guys! The bouncer, Andrew removed a guy that was creeping on me & doesn't let anyone in who is too intoxicated.
