Unfortunately, I have had two separate transactions with less than ideal outcomes. The first happened perhaps 2-3 years ago when I ordered a pair of prescription glasses. I picked them up and did not notice that there was a tint applied to the lenses until a few days later (these glasses are used primarily for reading - so did not wear them all the time). The tint had never been discussed with me, and I would not have agreed to it, as it does significantly change my visual perception. I returned several months ago with a broken frame. Rita told me she could try to order the part (but not sure that she would be able to get it); or she could have it soldered for approximately $100, but the work would not be guaranteed, the frame could break again. I asked that she find out if she could get the part first (thinking that I wasn't sure I wanted to spend $100 for a fix that may be very temporary) and to call to let me know. Imagine my surprise when I did not receive a call, but instead, received an email stating that my glasses had been repaired and ready for pick up with a balance of $130. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of communication, she eventually did not charge me for the repair, but I cannot recommend a business that seems to put their wishes and profits ahead of truly understanding what a customer wants. read more

We were vacationing in Sonoma on June 16th-17th and riding bicycles (provided by our lodging facility) to the downtown square for breakfast. During the ride, I was almost run over by a driver who ran a stoplight. As I fell, I landed on my reading glasses which were in my pocket. When I pulled them out to read the menu at the restaurant, one of the arms had been broken in the fall and fell off. The server at our restaurant (Sausage Factory - another FABULOUS restaurant in Sonoma) suggested we visit Rita at Rika Optique (just around the corner) after breakfast and that if anyone in town could fix them, she could. We had to wait a bit for her to open, and when we went in she couldn't have been more helpful. AND she fixed them in a matter of minutes! Was it a crisis? No. Was it serious? No? RiKa Optique is a hidden gem in the heart of Sonoma County. Being a glasses wearer for years, I am always on the search for my next new pair. I stumbled upon this place and it was a win. I was instantly greet by the warm and friendly smile of Rita. I was impressed by the precautions in place due to COVID 19 and felt so comfortable trying on the frames. Rita's fashion sense and eye for detail made it hard for me to choose which pair. I had it narrowed down to three pairs and decided on these Face A Face frame that I am loving. I was in need of a new pair of Ray-Ban glasses. My old pair of Wayfayer glasses were lost. Kaylyn helped us out! She is great, and one of the co-owners. My dad, stepmom, and I had a fun time playing with glasses. I bought a pair of Ray-Ban matte black Wayfayer's and she even sized them for me. They fit perfectly. My old pair (the one's I lost!) I had bought on Amazon, thinking I got a deal. Turns out they were most likely fakes! Go figure. These surely aren't fakes. Anyway, we had a fun time visiting, and I surely will revisit them if I do lose my glasses again - or if I need a pair of non-sunglasses. I was very disappointed in my first visit to this business. The stem on my Gucci glasses needed repair. I explained that I live out of town. The employee there said she might be able to fix it or she could pop the lenses and I could buy a new front. I told her my prescription had changed so that wouldn't work. She said she would try to fix it. It would cost $10 and take 20-30 minutes. When I questioned this, (not a soul in the store), she huffed at me. I walked out, thought about it, and returned for my glasses. I went next to Sonoma Eye Center next to Whole Foods. The employee said she could do a temporary fix, went in the back room, replaced a nut, was back in two minutes and when I offered to pay, she smiled and said no charge. Throughout my life of wearing glasses, choosing frames has always been time consuming, frustrating, and disappointing. I had just purchased a pair of glasses in Santa Rosa, but realized the frames were too large for me. So I never wear them. I had stopped into RiKa before, because I am always on the lookout for frames. It's the cutest building and so clean inside with good COVID precautions. I had looked but never purchased. Then one day I accidentally stepped on my pair of wire rims that are really the only pair I wear since I dislike the new glasses I bought. The frames were completely flat, almost turned inside out. They are Lindberg frames that not many stores carry or will work on. I tried RiKa to see if by chance they could straighten them out. Rita cautioned me that she had worked on Lindberg frames before, even though she doesn't carry them. She said she would try but it's possible they would simply break. Since I couldn't wear them, I asked her to try. Just a few minutes later, she brought them back in great shape. But since they are now less sturdy than before, I made an appt for frame shopping. Rita listened to what my frustrations were with finding frames and what I hoped to find. Then she started bringing me frame after frame. She brought frames that were modern and stylish, simple and petite, colored and plainer... Normally I go around a store and try on everything and find nothing. Rita chose all the frames to try on and I found a frame that I believe I will love for a long time. Rita and I kept narrowing the choices until we were down to two. One was very stylish and avant garde and was so cute. The other was a great shape and good color. I had made my choice but asked her for an opinion. Rita told me to go outside and look at the frames in real light. She said, based on the frame shape and my face, she chose the same one I did. She met my goals, saved me a lot of time by using her expertise to select the frames best for me, and I have a great new frame. She also explained to me how much difference there is between types of eyeglass lens manufacturing techniques. Thank you Rita and RiKa Optique! Overall it was a fun experience and the shop has a good variety of frames, but they can be expensive. Although, Rita nicely chose a frame that was 40% off for my first try on. I found this optical shop when I was visiting Sonoma. They have an amazing selection of frames I have never seen anywhere else. The owner suggested I try on a pair of blue frames with a rounded shape -I would never have picked and they are my favorite glasses ever. They are so light and I get tons of compliments on them. I went back 3 months later and got mirrored sunglasses that I adore.
