Love the light, bright, spacious new office on N Dutton Ave! Parking is easier than it was downtown too. I've seen both Dr Moore and Dr Wood, and appreciate their warm, calm, friendly approach...and the cutting edge technology they use. For a small fee ($10, I think) you can have your retina digitally scanned instead of dilated. A friend recommended this office to me for that reason. It's so worth it! I'm new to wearing glasses. I went into my eye exam this year convinced that I would not commit to a pair of glasses at the end of the appointment. Last time I didn't do enough research and felt overwhelmed and ended up with glasses that I didn't love. But this time I did some research, trying on glasses in advance to know what styles I liked/didn't. So, when I found a pair of Tom Ford frames this year that I liked on the display and on my face, I changed my mind and ordered them. Glad I did! All of the staff were friendly and helpful. During my visit Dr Tiffany Moore was amazing, she is very knowledgeable, kind, and answered all my questions. Empire Optometry is vey inviting as soon as you walk in. The staff is very attentive and will help you pick a frame that fits your budget and style The equipment used seemed very modern compared to what I have seen in the past at other doctor's office's, and the office is very clean. Went in this morning, was greeted right away by a friendly receptionist. She had my paperwork ready to be filled out. Once in the back the eye dr was very knowledgeable and even told me things I didn't know. She took her time to explain things to me and didn't mind my questions. Very nice staff setting up the appointments; the doctor doing the exam very polite and professional however, it's been several months since I've been fitted for my contact lenses and I still don't have a prescription. I've been unable to get anyone to call me back about my challenges with getting the right fit or getting the prescription set up. I also just picked up my $600 pair of glasses that I bought and they're not functional. The prescription seems off. A bit disappointing since I enjoyed my interactions with the office staff but the follow up seems to be lacking. I'm not sure what's going on there but it's an unfortunate experience to date. read more

The people were great. They were all very nice and helpful. Took my 18yo daughter into get an eye exam and her first contact lenses. The doctor would not do the contact lens fitting exam without me signing her up for a $450 "contact lens training" course, I asked what this entailed and they said we will teach her to insert and remove the contacts and then the dr will ensure that they fit correctly. I have worn contacts for the last 30 years, a $450 training is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard of. Of course they didn't tell me about the $450 until after the regular eye exam which means that I now will have to pay out of pocket for a new eye exam if I want to take her to an office that does not charge this exorbitant fee. I do understand that contact fitting is not covered under most vision plans and was prepared to pay a reasonable amount for this service. I will not be going back to this office. read more

NOT Very accommodating! rude receptionist , I called in to mention I will be 8 mins late , She have not said to just reschedule over the phone, walked in expecting to be seen. That did not happen! I know my eyes and I know for a fact there isn't any changed. Sure granted, I have not got my eye check for 2yrs., however I haven't got my eye check for even longer than that. 5yrs plus. and there isn't any changes at all. they won't refill my contact lens due to expired Rx. Like come on.. the next appointment is not till another month. Which doesn't give you any allowance for having a contact lens ! Way to go for making money! read more

If you have little ones and want to make sure they feel comfortable I would highly recommend coming here. Absolutely love that this is an all women staff and the ladies at the office were all so welcoming and made us feel like we were long time customers. There were plenty of choices when it came to selecting glasses and I appreciated how the person helping us explained our insurance benefits and gave us the breakdown to help us better understand what our co pays were. Sadly I can no longer recommend Empire. My previous, 5-star review dates back several years to when I was on traditional Medicare. Having switched to Sutter Medicare Advantage HMO, it turns out Empire does not accept that insurance. Front desk person quickly became exasperated and made no effort to retain a customer who purchased pretty pricey glasses there in the past. That said, highly recommend their Ovvo titanium frames, very light and very strong. read more

Attempted to get my glasses closer to home, but was unable to ever get there when they were open. I was excited about Empire's selection, with name brands such as Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Versace, and more. Our Optical assistant was friendly, attentive, and helpful, showing me options in other colours and shapes. It took me awhile to narrow down my choices because honestly, with everything they had, I swear I saw something I thought I couldn't live with every time I turned around. It was easy to order the frames I wanted with the lenses I needed, and they came in ready for me in less than two weeks. Unfortunately one of my pair's lenses was ground incorrectly, and I had to take them back. My optometrist assistant was gracious to have them sent back and remade for me, and when I got them back, they were perfect. The one negative star is for the parking, which can be really challenging and requires you to pay even if you're just stopping to drop something off. Also the hours are incredibly hard to work with, as they only have one day a week open past 5 and no hours open on weekends. Other than that, professional, courteous service, and outstanding product. read more

I found this place through my insurance. It's not the first time that I went to have my eyes checked at a local Optometry office so I already have some expectations. The Dr who checked me was so nice then after the check-up, I was told to wait for the lady that's going to help me find a frame. To make the long story short, she picked out frames that she said looked good on me. I looked at the frames and didn't have the price. When she showed me the total I was so shocked that even though I had insurance it was still so expensive and I felt so pressured. Then she asked me to sign a paper stating "no cancellations/refund". The lady never explained my benefits and just wanted to upsell. I felt they cared more about the money than helping me get a great deal. I won't probably go back to this office. read more

First off after I left the office I asked for my pupil distance (which they measured). They refused to give it to me Second 6 months later the lens pops out and is lost No warranty for their faulty work as no lens could be recovered when lost (still have one lens in the glasses I guess they figure that is worth the money they charge) Heck Target or Walmart is better it seems I must have made the screw come out I guess they figure I am sorry also Tiffany that I lost the lens. If you all had told me you did not use lock tight on the screws I would had taken them out and put some on myself. I lost the lens because it fell out when screw came out. I had no control over it except trusting your company to do the job right when they clearly did not do that and it cost me for new glasses. I do remember asking if warranty covered Every thing and was told yes. But it clearly does not cover everything. Maybe train your employees properly instead of giving me a fake apology read more

If you want customer service, this is not the place for you. I scheduled an appointment online and they cancelled it saying they did not want me as a client. The reason they stated is that "I was disappointed with their service" if that was the case, why would I have scheduled an appointment online. The back story to this is my insurance changed a while back, I showed up to my appointment and they said they didn't accept my new insurance. So I was not seen. I later found out they did accept and I was very frustrated that their office didn't know this upfront. So now, I've gone and scheduled a new appointment online, figuring I have been with them for many years, they have all my records, I'll just be polite and get my eyes checked, NOPE, they cancelled my appoint. On a side note, the Drs. are great, too bad they have an unhospitable office team. read more

Dr. Moore was very helpful and acknowledgeable. I've been to prior optometrists with a condition I have in one of my eyes and she by far made me feel the most comfortable with her ways and methods of treating me.
