My $1,200 a month Kaiser plan didn't cover an optometry exam. They wanted to charge me $177 for a basic eye exam, plus any additional testing on top of that. I went on Yelp and decided to make an appointment at this Target location. Dr. Lee was very energetic and thorough. He explained every step of the process. The basic exam included testing my existing glasses, vision test, visual examination of the cornea, peripheral vision test, and a glaucoma test. I opted to go for the retinal scan which was an extra amount but at my age, it's worth it. Dr. Lee has a state of the art machine that doesn't require dilating the eyes. It takes a digital picture of the retina and the optic nerve. He took the time to explain the health of my eyes. The basic eye exam here was $104 less than Kaiser and even with the extra charge for the retinal scan, it was still $65 less than Kaiser's basic exam. I highly recommend Dr. Lee! read more

What an excellent experience I had at this practice! I booked an appointment 4 weeks out to see the optometrist at the Santa Rosa Costco because my Costco in Ukiah does not have an optometrist on-site, so I was referred to Santa Rosa. When I arrived at my appointment 4 weeks later, I was informed that SR Costco does not take my insurance which is VSP, pretty common insurance! I figured would give Target optical in SR shot to see if they would be able to see me. I knew it would be a long shot but as I said I am from Ukiah and did want to waste the drive and really needed to renew my contact prescription which had expired right at the beginning of the pandemic. My other option and the least favorite option was to drive to the Bay Area to see my old optometrist. When I arrived at SR Target I explained my situation to the Optical office Manager and she went to check with Dr. Lee to see if he would be able to give me an exam. Looong story short, he did! Dr.Lee is amazing I had a great conversation with him in the exam room. Not only is he professional, knowledgeable, but he's also personable, energetic, and has a great sense of humor! And his staff has the same energy! I am a super fan of stellar customer service and because of that I will definitely return and make the 1-hour drive for my next appointment! read more

I have worn glasses for almost 30 years now (nothing serious, just nearsighted) and I have been to many, many different eye doctors. Dr. Lee is the best I have seen. He was on time for the appointment (I had barely sat down) and greeted me with a very genuine smile. He comes across as outgoing, personable and knowledgeable. He worked through the various tests and such quickly but with a warm, soft approach. He has a very gentle way about him and he explains what each test is in a very clear, non-condescending way. I have lived in Santa Rosa for nearly 11 years and I FINALLY feel like I found the right optometrist. I have seen Dr. Lee for two annual exams now and I appreciate his professional, yet friendly nature. His office staff is also very competent, friendly, and organized. He seems to truly enjoy his job, he treats his staff respectfully, and he is good at what he does. When it came time for him to make suggestions on my contact lenses (and the care I took of them), he took the time to explain WHY without sounding condescending. The professional service that my wife and I received during back to back exam appointments was superb. We were both treated to a wealth of easily understandable technical information that was quite educational. Both of us are retired medical professionals. We appreciate Dr. Lee's excellent practice of thoroughly, in lay terms, detailing what he was doing and why. He seems to know that most people actually can "get" this stuff, if it's unpacked from jargon that's intended to be exclusive. The office staff that we interacted with were patient, friendly and informative. I was offered help a few times, even while I was waiting for my exam time. One doesn't generally enjoy visiting doctors for eye exams. With most doctor visits these days, you must stand in line just to announce your arrival to the busy receptionist who then directs you to take a seat and wait. But if your exam is with Dr. Lee, and you're on time, it's vastly different. Dr. Lee warmly greets you himself on your arrival and energetically begins working with you at once. You'll not only enjoy the exam, and learn a lot about your eyes, but look forward to your next meeting with him because he's a teacher as well as an examiner. He's flexible, fast-yet-thorough, accurate, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate, humorous, and above all, a friend. I'd been a diehard Costco customer for years until their service started to go steeply downhill. My troubles at Costco turned out to be a blessing in disguise ... because they led me to Dr. Lee! My experience with Dr. Lee yesterday was superior in every way to what I was used to at Costco. Friendlier atmosphere, better support staff, more positive and upbeat attitude, true caring about my health, unsurpassed medical expertise ... I could go on and on. I really was unprepared for how much better I was going to feel after my routine eyeglass and eye health exam. Dr. Lee is a pleasure to be with. He exhibits a professionalism and warmth of personality that I've found to be a hard combination to find in medical professionals, especially in recent decades. If I could give 10 stars, I would! Dr. Lee and his staff are one of the best that I have seen. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted warmly and promptly, no matter how busy they are. I've always been plagued with horrible eyesight so new glasses or contact prescriptions have never been my favorite. My appointment was more than on time, it was almost instant! About a minute after checking in, Dr Lee brought me back. The visit was quick and efficient but not rushed. He is very professional and was curious about me as a person and my life, which made me feel like more than just a prescription. Great service. I called in the morning because I was having a crisis, and they told me to come in 10 minutes (which was way too soon for me!). Dr. Albert Lee is super friendly, a bit silly - which only makes your visit that much more pleasant. He likes to explain every procedure or checkup that he is doing, in non-technical language that us regulars can easily understand. Sort of like watching Bill Nye the Science Guy. He found my problem right away, explained the cause, offered me alternative solutions, and even made personal conversation along the way. It seems like he really cares about you. I went on a weekend which is what initially drew me to them so I wouldn't have to take time off as the vast majority of eye doctors only work M-F during standard biz hours. My appt was at 4:00 and there was no wait at all. Dr Lee is friendly and warm but most importantly he is very good at not only his work but communicating with the patient all pertinent information as it relates to something as complex (and important) as the eye. They run a very efficient operation. When I called to make the appt. they got my details and had insurance matters all ready to go when i walked in. Traditionally I've never been that enthusiastic about visiting the optometrist, but Dr. Lee has blown me out of the water. Right off the bat he was extremely friendly and remained so all throughout the visit; he was quite thorough in the examination and took time to explain all of his findings. It was also probably the first time in a very long time that I've been happen with how the lens fitting went; usually I have a hard time discerning the difference between each lens, but Dr. Lee took care to make sure that he went slow enough that I could examine them. After calling every optometrist in Santa Rosa and being told that there was no openings until the end of next month, I called Target Optical (which I didn't even know existed) and got an appointment that same day.
