My mom constantly sings the praises of her wonderful caregiver, Kendra, who is both professional and kind. Not a recommended caregiver company. Hired them to take care of my 82 yr old dad for 3 hrs a day ,…read more4 days a week. The ladies of the company were nice, but I think a bit rehearsed in their speech and although they said they wanted to find the right fit for my dad, the people they sent were really 'out there'. Gave specific requirements and needs that they said they could accomodate. The major needs were a good cook and someone who can hold a conversation. The first caregiver they sent changed the schedule to fit her needs and had a month long vacation planned which would have required another caregiver to be sent out. Why did they send out someone who would have to be replaced in a couple of months? We told them we were looking for someone long term. My dads desire was not to have to bounce from one person to the next. The same caregiver then decided to take $20 cash for gas that was offered in kindness, but as a professional caregiver you should know that you never take money from a patient for ethical reasons. Gas money was not part of the contract, unless the caregiver drove the patient somewhere in their own car, which she didn't. Some seniors who are a bit forgetful or just not all 'there' might offer money, unaware that it is not what should be done. The final straw with her was letting us know last minute that she couldn't come on a day she was scheduled. So we had them send out another caregiver. ( The company did reimburse us the $20 on the second invoice). The second person they sent had absolutely no personality and ruined $7 worth of chicken trying to cook a meal for my dad. It was horrible and I can't believe she would try to make someone eat it. Basically boneless thigh meat cooked in soy sauce until it was completely inedible. And white rice with nothing on it. Really?? this is someone who can cook, huh? She had no understanding of what was being said to her and I often had to say, "do you understand what I mean?" due to the lost look in her face. Ok, person number 3 was a 24 year old who had no experience! She may have been certified, but she has no interpersonal training or experience. She came several days and then I get a call from the director that the caregiver said she didn't want to go to my dads anymore because he propositioned her for sex!!!!!! OMG!! My dad is 82 and couldn't understand what was going on when I told him she pulled this. He would never do that, even in jest. The caregiver mentioned an older sister and my dad said "oh, she wants to come work here, well sure, send her over!" . And the caregiver took that and ran to the director to file an incident report that my dad propositioned her! What the HELL?? YOu have to know how to distinguish fact from fiction and this girl had no idea how to talk with people or how to understand what a senior might be talking about. My dad was mortified that she said that, and although he was unsure of his exact words, he was very clear that he never said he wanted her to be his mistress!! He told me, "she's a child, he would never to anything sick like that! ". I am totally disgusted by the parade of incompetent people that were sent to care for my dad. I'm starting a new caregiver soon and will review them after experiencing their quality of service. In the meantime, stay away from All Seasons Homecare, I would never use them again based on our experience with them.

Overall, we had a GREAT experience with case manager Jennifer and the caregiver "Jo" who became my mom's main caregiver. Coordinating care for an elder is no simple task - there is no way I could have given my mom all the support she needed for a successful recovery. It took a while and we had to try a few caregivers, but Provident filled in exactly as I needed them when we needed them approximately 10-20 hours per week. Difficulties, but still deserves "Great" rating: A major challenge was finding the right schedule and caregiver for my mom, but that was resolved to her liking. A second major challenge was our thinking my mom's LTC insurance policy would cover a significant amount of the cost, but Provident Care Home Care is not a Medicare qualified provider, so we paid out of pocket and may get some reimbursement from her insurance but we don't know yet. HOWEVER, even if we have to pay the full amount for her 12 weeks of care from Provident, it was 100% worth the expense. Finding a private caregiver is always an option. However, I really appreciated having an agency and a care coordinator to ensure adequate coverage and provide general support for me as my mom's primary caregiver.

I was putting off trying to find a care home for my mom for the last six months. Prior to that,…read morealthough she had been declining, I could still communicate with her somewhat; push her around in a wheelchair, and watch her eat most of her food. However, from January 2025 on, it seemed like every two weeks, she would get worse dramatically. She wouldn't eat; she wouldn't take her pills - she was fading in front of me everyday, and I was powerless to stop the deterioration. She needed an around the clock care giver or be at a facility at all times for her well-being, but I didn't know where to start or what to look for. I didn't have grandparents that lived to an old age and my dad died when I was a teen, so this search was foreign. I called a few places, but I didn't know what to ask for and what I should be looking for in a place for my mom. A nurse gave me Nicole Fauss's number and immediately Nicole wanted to get a sense of who my mom is. From her thorough, yet sensitive and understanding, questioning, she deduced that my mom would do much better at a smaller residence. My mom had become almost completely aphasic and her recognition of English had vanished, leaving her with just a scant familiarity with rudimentary Mandarin - and even that was pretty infrequent. So Nicole started to comb the Bay Area for possible, suitable place. She sent me names, short descriptions of these homes and contact info. I revised other things I thought that would be important as this process was undertaking: distance, dietary needs, style of food, I even thought that my mom may feel a bit more comfortable with other people who were Asian and were also in need of memory care. With all these changes, Nicole adjusted her search and would promptly send me lists of places. She would call many of these places first so I didn't have to feel so awkward during my initial phone call. All that she did for my mom and me were far more than I had ever expected anyone to commit. I called, visited and they didn't feel right. Nicole did not push me to take any of these earlier places; she just continued to look for us. I called a place that was surprisingly close to my mom's apartment. It didn't check all the boxes, but it had other aspects that Nicole could sense would be valuable to my mom's health and my state of peace. Nicole's guidance and diligence have led us to this wonderful residence for my mom and has shown that this stage of my mom's life doesn't have to be so saturated with fear and sadness. The home is small. The caregiver to resident ratio is small. There is a pretty yard. The caregivers are not Mandarin speakers, but they listen and observe attentively. The caregivers make sure that the food meets my mom's picky needs as well as her nutritional requirements. They've also expanded my mom's palate as she now eats and drinks far more than she did a month ago. The place is also not a home  specifically for elderly, memory-care residents. Because of this diversity, the energy of the home is much higher than some of the other places I have seen. Being situated in this has helped my mom. She taps her feet to the Supremes coming out of the radio; smiles (she smiles often now) at the other residents on her floor; has meals with them and tries to talk to them. I have a better comprehension of what living with dignity is like. My mom is now in a place that feels like a home, because, quite frankly, it is a home.
