Lousy wine...like seriously, I've never had such bad wine before. Also the staff seem overworked and rude which really reflects on the management. I've recently read an article indicating this business is fighting with the landlord. They should just give up. Close up and move on. Let someone who knows how to run a wine bar step up! We need more cool spots to go in Richmond and this is not one of them. read more

Wow! Have you ever heard of a cover charge for a wine tasting room in 2020's. We'll we were dumb enough to pay the $5 cover each. It was nice to see dog friendly and Milo was there. Then the bad news. A Milo employee told me dogs don't recognize my dog as a dog because of his black face?!?!? Wow! We walked away my wife reminded her Black Lives Matter and these are dogs maybe with the B word involved. Then we are waiting for over a hour and a half for our pizza to come while the same Milo Table enjoyed 2 other pizzas. Never again maybe that was a exception in no way will I support this place terrible with an amazing view. read more

10 stars! I went to a going away party at the winery on Sunday and realized after I got home that one of my diamond earrings was missing. Left a voicemail and the owner Kevin called me back within 10 minutes, told me he was headed to the winery on a holiday Monday and would look for my earring. He also thoughtfully asked where we had parked and whether I had been in the restroom so he could look there. HE.FOUND.IT! Called me back, made arrangements for me to pick it up and refused my offer of a reward. Restored my faith in humanity. Please give Kevin and Barbara your business, they are good people! read more

Ambiance: So I love the look of this hidden gem. It's perfect for upscale birthday parties, weddings, a date or day out with friends. You get to take in beautiful views of San Francisco as you sip on your wine or cider. You can choose to sit inside or outside this place is perfect for either. Wine: I tried the Cider which was pretty good but the one that had the best flavor was the Quava Cider. It's sweet, crisp and fruity giving you the perfect buzz after a glass. The wine wasn't that impressive. I went with a flight of the white wine because I'm more so into white than red but I'll try the red next time. Service: great service here. The staff is kind. I would love them to tell you more about the wine while you're tasting. Makes you appreciate and savor it more. read more

The space and views are great. The pizza was also pretty good as are their special events. However, if you're a wine connoisseur, plan to drink something else. We tasted 8 different bottles (whites and then reds) and they were all really really bad, We could not find a single one. Had to have the sangria. (Which was good). Disappointed for the 2nd time visiting. They are as bad if not worse than Four Fools Winery in Rodeo. read more

The location is interesting and pretty cool however, we had reservations for two which we believed were for outdoor dining. Upon arrival we were told outside was too windy that night so we could sit inside and keep our window open. Would have been nice to know this before arrival. We ordered a bottle of wine ($45) and are pretty sure we received the wrong bottle (we ordered a white and got a red...). To make matters worse, I know that when you order a bottle of wine, it is opened in front of you and poured for a taste and then upon approval the glasses are poured. Here, the waiter brought the bottle and two already poured glasses and said "oops I'm sorry, I poured your wine already but I swear I just opened this bottle for you." My boyfriend and I were surprised and things got awkward. The server hoped for the best and left us. Not only did we not really have an opportunity to reject the wine (since it was wrong and turned out to be gross) but now we were stuck with this $45 bottle. As my boyfriend paid the bill, he did make it a point to let the manager know that the wine was disgusting. Her response was that hopefully they could make up for it next time. And no, she did not offer anything for next time other than her hope. WHAT??? Why would we come back here? The menu... the place has like five things on their menu, two of which they were out of. They get some credit because their Mediterranean platter was good. This place has a lot of potential but between their lack of snack/food options and sub par service I'd say they are wasting it. read more

So this was our first visit. The young people on staff were all sweet, explained how the place worked, friendly and helpful. The young man, Bashir, at the wine bar helped suggest a tasty wine. The huge windows let in lots of light and there was a talented band. Why only 3 stars? The furniture was really uncomfortable. Only high tops available with super wiggly, backless stools. I worried it would collapse. The biggest negative was the food. The menu looks good but don't be fooled. What was supposed to be a soft pretzel with cheese came out as a dry, unevenly cooked, crunchy twist with teeny cups of ordinary yellow mustard. The pizza was small and woodfired, which meant burned in spots. The prices for the food were expensive, those two items added up to $30! We might return, but we wouldn't come hungry. read more

This will be fun to review. I see the energy and potential for this place as becoming the top hangout for everyone especially couples and groups in the near future. We understand plans are in the works. I can see where it could go and what it needs in the short term. It is understated in appearance right not but that is an easy fix in the short term and they have are making plans at this time. People already coming here love it. I do recommend using GPS as the Port Planning committee doesn't make a straight rode until you reach a building or the bay. Riggers Loft Needs a BIG SIGN out front for sure. But it's what's inside that makes the trip worth it. Remember we live in the SF Bay Area. Dress in layers to stay warm. The place is large and can get cool at night. Parking - private and plentiful Greeted/Seated - Happy smiling faces behind the counter Atmosphere - lively Décor - Industrial open warehouse. Kegs and fermentation bins. Service - impeccable, thank you Joey and staff Cleanliness - very clean Menu Selection - 20 + Items from semi-permanent food truck "At their Door" literally. Presentation/Portion - Definitely has the eye appeal. Unique - This place is massive and evolving. Bar - Wine and cider. Maybe beer Value - $$ Cash/Credit - Yes This is a collection of 3 wineries and a cider mill in one location. There are so many wines offered, I get the flight so I can have the wine experience of all of them. Represented are R&B Cellars, Carica Wines, Irish Monkey Wines (which moved from Oakland to this location), and the Far West Cider Company. Here virtually the opposite side of the dock from the "Red Oak Victory" WWII troop transport ship. Tons of parking here. The whole area is magically throwback to a time gone by. Bay views. OMG ... you have to see them to believe them. You won't see a sign for this place. I'm not sure why. But if you are at the aft of the Red Oak Victory ship it's directly across from it next to the Bay. The interior is massive. An array of windows looking out across facing the San Francisco Skyline. (Amazing and romantic at night) On the left are wine barrels coming of age and fermentation tanks. Other off limits back rooms for production. The bar and seating is on the bay side so views and libations fuse nicely. The staff is on spot. They know the products of all the wines, wineries, and cider. The room is always inviting visitors to play ping pong, giant Jenga, and Bean bag toss. Music is all genres from songs like Tequila to Beyond the Sea. Even some mice couches to finish off food comfortably. Food - - - What a nice surprise to see a semi-permanent food truck literally in the doorway taking orders. From burgers to Paella to seared tuna Tacos. Presentation and flavors complimented the wines and ciders perfectly. "STREET EATS" food truck by Chef Paul Skenktny, does an amazing job with a menu of 20+ items. Most of the people there were eating. That is a good sign. You will find them there in the afternoon to evening. I was there for trivia night and that was a hoot. They also have live music on Friday nights. They are considering Karaoke in the future. I got addicted to the giant Jenga. I had a blast and my girlfriend and I were glad to know it is PET FRIENDLY. Yaay. I am looking forward to meeting Adam the manager and not just by phone. read more

One of the best decisions my husband and I made was to have our wedding at Riggers Loft. From start to finish, the owners, Barbara and Kevin, were super friendly and responsive, and really took great care of us. Also, the venue itself is super unique, and we got a ton of compliments on our choice from our guests! You really can't beat the amazing view of the SF skyline, being right on the Bay, in such a cool and historic area. Oh, and the wine and cider selections are simply impeccable! We cannot recommend this venue more highly! read more

I hosted a family and friends appreciation celebration (wedding reception) here, and it was amazing. I can't shout out Barbara, the co-owner, and Chef Frank enough. They were communicative in setting everything up perfectly. We had food, wines, ciders, non-alcohol drinks and set up for a DJ and table games. We lucked out with beautiful weather and folks were hanging out and playing cornhole outside. I love this place! read more

Disappointing - have come here pre-covid and enjoyed the wine and view, but for some reason this time the wine was sooo gross. One of the Sauvignon Blancs tasted like apple cider vinegar, a glass of red tasted like port with some nail polish remover added to it... we tried 5 different glasses and none tasted quite right. The food was also icky - old yellow lettuce and dry meat. My advice: if you come here, make sure to taste test the wine before you order, and stick with appetizers. Two stars because the servers were nice, music was good, and the outdoor seating was lovely. read more

Nadine will take gooooood care of you. After hiking at N Knob, I thought it high time to find the urban winery that I had heard was here. March 26 was its opening day. Now, to those who aren't local....once exiting Canal, do not fret, as you will be driving a good :10 due south, and you will be passing all of the unsightly Toyota cars ( great scene for a movie ), as if you were about to plunge into the water. There, perched in this old warehouse (painting, was it?), adjacent to the Red Oak Victory ship, is your Riggers. Found it, and after a scintilla of hesitation, stepped over the high threshold ( reminiscent of old Chinese courtyards), and introduced myself. Nadine promptly, de gratis, poured a GSM for me, and another red blend ( Syrah?), happily explaining all the while the 4 different vintners (labels)--one focusing on Italian grapes, another on the Rhône style grapes, etc. The former was a wonderful wines the latter, I didn't really prefer. She even poured me a beautiful chocolatey dessert port. Oh my, yummy. The space is amaze-balls. Sprawling and expansive, view of Brooks island and water....in the works, a built-out kitchen for hot food. Presently, the cook ( whose hand I shook) cooks out of a truck parked right alongside outside. The bar counter and comfy couches will make for a brilliant afternoon of imbibing and enjoying the water's view...unhurried, inviting, and staid. Do come and give their wines, food ( and even hard cider!) a try! read more

We arrived after a 6 mile hike in wildcat canyon and were ready to relax! Gorgeous location, even the drive out was beautiful. Love the hidden industrial setting and options for seating indoors or out. My dog was in heaven, he loves music and cool concrete. My date had made a reservation and we were running late but were seated outside still where we could hear the performers and enjoy the view. We had a terrific bottle of champagne, the Mediterranean plate, popcorn and huge cider bottle of water! The variety of people celebrating, relaxing, and gathering with friends made for satisfying people watching. It was quiet enough to talk and have a long conversation but hear jazz. The view is amazing and one I have never seen before. Definitely coming back. The people who worked at the venue were helpful and easy going, very pleasant. read more

I love coming here! Being a member of the R&B wine club gives me an excuse to come every few months to enjoy the views and awesome wine. This place has a large outdoor area and will impress anyone who visits. The staff are always friendly and they will help out with most questions you might have. Parking is easy to grab, music on weekends is fun but keep in mind they now charge $5 for that, they have their COVID protocols, and recommend reservations. My only recommendation would be to improve the quality of the food. I'm not a fan of their dishes because they are extremely underwhelming. The prices for the dishes aren't reflective of the quality and I would avoid getting food there if you can. It would be awesome if you had food trucks from local owners stop by. Aside from that, this place is my favorite spot for wine with a view. read more

Great spot! Beautiful view, so peaceful, fun atmosphere, very kind staff, we got lucky and even got to sit and watch the live band for just a $5 cover charge/pp. The white Moscata was really good! We also got the Mediterranean plate, which was pretty filling for the price. For our second round we tried the Syrah, which I'm normally a fan of but this I do NOT recommend, it had a very bitter taste to it, as if it went bad. But when I told the bar tender that it wasn't for me, she was VERY kind, was happily let me pick something else. So I would just recommend trying the reds before committing. Other than that, everything was delightful! Such a great way to spend your Saturday afternoon. read more

We keep trying this place and each time we've had a funky experience. We tried coming one time to hear some music I had seen advertised in Facebook. There was no mention of needing a reservation. Disappointed that we made the trek across a bridge to check this place out, we just headed back home. So this time I called to make a reservation, left a message. No one returned my call. I called again during business hours only to have an incompetent person take the reservation. Once we arrived....no reservation. This time, I insisted we had a reservation. We got in and we're seated at an undesirable table....nowhere near our friends. We spoke with Marina, the manager. She is useless as well. She just said we should have called to confirm! Since when is it the customer's job to call to confirm, after I called twice to begin with?! read more

I apologize for the long review but I can't explain it any other way: My partner and I booked this venue for our wedding celebration last year. Having grown up in Richmond, finding a venue here meant a lot to me. We were so excited! We picked our date, signed the contract and paid the deposit. As we were preparing for it, we decided to pay the rest of the venue fee so we didn't have a huge bill at the end. Sadly, life happened and we had to cancel to deal with urgent personal matters. That was devastating enough. We knew we were gonna lose half of our deposit and had accepted that loss. What we weren't expecting was what came after. Before canceling, if I reached out with any questions I would hear back within a day. Two at most. After canceling, I wouldn't hear back for weeks at a time. I had to keep reaching out. Making sure they got our cancellation notice. Asking to start the refund process. How long it would take. If there was anything else we needed to do on our end. Every few weeks I had to reach out. When I finally heard back it was always an apology and explanation why it was taking so long. I get it, things happen. When we finally started talking about the refund, we were told we would only get back 50% of the overall payment because we "decided to pay the rest of the venue fee." At this point it really felt like they were trynna get over on us cuz I could've sworn the contract said half of the initial deposit. So my partner and I kept going over it and we just didn't see it. We asked for some clarity and Barbara, one of the owners, insisted that that was their policy. My partner told me that we must've missed something and was ready to deal with that bigger loss. But it just didn't sit right with me. Why would they keep half of everything when they didn't know that we would decide to pay for the whole venue in advance? The rest of that payment wasn't due until after the wedding. Anyways, I ended up asking one of the staff attorneys at my job and they agreed. According to their cancellation policy, if we cancel 60 days before our event, they would keep half of the initial deposit. It didn't mention anything about any additional payments. When we got back to them with this, they agreed and said we were right. By this time I'm even more uncomfortable with this dynamic. I began to question their professionalism and their intentions. If we had just gone with what they told us, would they have just taken our money? Also, has this situation never come up for them before that they honestly didn't know their own cancellation policy or how to deal with it? Now, I'm spiraling and super stressed. I just wanna get our refund and be done with this situation. But that was not the case. Again, I have to chase them down for updates. No response for weeks at a time. The refund was finally sent. My partner and I were grateful that we are finally gonna be done with this. We open the check and it's half of what the refund is supposed to be. WTH?!?!? I reach out, again. They've split the payment in two and didn't mention that. Okay, I guess?!? I deposit the check. It was declined for insufficient funds ‍ Reach out again. . . .got more apologies, reasons, excuses and justifications. We are all going through things and times are hard for everyone. ALSO, clear communication is FREE. That is the main thing we were asking for from the beginning. We finally get the first half of the refund. We were told that the second half would come a week later. And then another week goes by and nothing. No communication, no heads up, nothing. We had to send a demand letter to get that last payment. This experience was very unpleasant and stressful. Never again. Unless you are 1000% sure that you won't have a reason to cancel, it's not worth it. 0/10 don't recommend. read more

Beautiful spot. A must-see for anyone with time to kill in the Bay Area. Modest eats and good wine. Highly recommend the "Guava Be Kidding Me" cider. I would give five stars except for the fact that I was helped by an extremely rude person when making a reservation. A male answered my call in early October and laughed at me because I tired to make reservation for 11 am. Through chuckles, he explained that Riggers Loft opens at 1 PM on weekends. He giggled throughout our entire conversation and it honestly made me very upset. Riggers Loft purports to be a fancy establishment, yet they have buffoons answering the phone. Riggers Loft is a wondrous gem with fantastic drinks, a beautiful view of the city, and wonderful people. I came here on a (quite busy) Saturday night with friends for the first time and we found ourselves indulging in the various wines and ciders that the winery had to offer. I've fallen in love with the sweetness of the guava cider (you should try it -- it's amazing!), yet I definitely recommend trying out some of the wines as well! The staff members here are so welcoming and helpful! When you come here, try to get ahold of Tim! He helped my friends and I through the wine tasting process, giving very detailed descriptions of the drinks and what flavors they are known for in addition to sharing the history of the wineries Riggers Loft partners with. This is a great place to enjoy good company, a mesmerizing view, and tasty drinks. I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

Haven't visited Riggers Loft since pre-pandemic and decided that I would never go back - wine was terrible - then. I'm glad my friend found a discount coupon to try it again under new ownership or management. PLEASANTLY, HAPPILY SURPRISED. R & B Cellars Sparkling Rose was wonderful. We had one glass, then went back for another and the friendly bartender commented after I talked about how delicious it was, "so if you're coming back for another glass, why not get a bottle". Good idea! Then we somehow found ourselves talking to another table and they purchased another bottle. The food was average, but the wine made it better. I'll be back with more new customers as long as I don't have a black dog that won't be recognized as a dog because of its black face. WHAT? Server was "new" - couldn't answer questions so he sent another server and we were taken care of. Service was a little slow with just 2 in the area. read more

Almost couldn't find the place! The door is a little red door, located to the left of the four wine barrels by the fence when you're facing the water. It's underneath the big "sheet metal"words. It's not in there other side where it actually saids "riggers loft". They had a reasonable selection of reds, whites, and rose. The guava cider was also popular if you're into ciders. Would go back again. Great view and relaxing vibe, especially with the live band. read more

We had a private event there in honor of my husband's retirement. A little pricey on the event side (reserved both indoor and outdoor space and on hindsight I'd only reserve one or the other - but it's on the water so it's hard to make a call). I worked with Barbara and she was very communicative and easy to work with. We used Chef Frank Miller who is their in house chef and our guests were very pleased with the food. What I love most about Riggers Loft is the location and views - those can't be beat by anything I've experienced in Richmond. Would recommend for just a nice outing as well as life events/parties. IMO an amazing venue. Service from bar staff was impeccable! read more

Very interesting place to have a winery at - a shipyard. But it turns out to be a great location to come and have a drink with good company and a view. Due to COVID, it is reservation only, but I actually enjoy that more. Menu is more limited, but the drinks are still great. I highly recommend the Guava cider and Dry Cider. Currently only outdoor sitting, but the view is worth it. It can get very chilly with the bay breeze so I recommend bringing a jacket or something to keep you warm. And the staff is great! My friend became a wine club member and we just picked up! Loving the R&B Cellars Alexandra Valley Joy Zin. It has a smokey taste about it.

A star for location, staff & music (although I didn't like it inside & the band was boring & played a lot of original stuff). I totally want to like this place, I have been multiple times. This last time we only went back, because we thought maybe the band would be good & they had some new vintages of wine & oyster! Reasons we're not coming back: The wine is not up to par, the food was not good for what we paid & basically we just don't like the vibe. I love the venue & concept & I truly wanted to say the 5th time's a charm, but unfortunately it confirmed our previous experiences. I'm sure Riggers Loft has plenty of loyal fans but it's just not our jam. I chose to write this after several visits over the years. read more

I'm reviewing Riggers Loft as a wedding venue, as I recently had my wedding here. The venue is spectacular: the views are incredible, the building has the perfect warehouse vibe, and there is an active Osprey nest nearby that adds to the overall allure of the place. Ships, both big and small, float by, reminding you that even though this is part of an old WW2 facility, the nearby port is still very active. My partner and I interacted with Barbara, one of the owners, to plan our wedding. Barbara was always kind, professional, responsive, and totally accommodating of our requests. Thanks to Barbara and Riggers Loft staff, our wedding went even better than we imagined. Very scenic setting in which we enjoyed pleasant outdoor seating for live music. The food could be much improved. The burger for example, which should be kind of a benchmark for this kind of place, was not the "how would you like that cooked" variety but rather two thin, charred well-done, kind of unpleasantly flavored patties with a very basic setup. Fries were decent. For $16, there are much more impressive burger options elsewhere. Even In-n-Out is far superior. Very limited selection for vegetarians. read more

I would have given them a 5 star review until our last visit! We had online reservations with a prepaid cover charge of $5 only to find when arriving they had suddenly changed it to $10 ! It was still listed as $5 on their website. We Informed them this was considered "bait and switch" and illegal. The attendants kept insisting this was the way it was and required by management. This is flatly against state law ! The music was good, as usual, and wine good if not great. BUT, it will be some time before we return after being treated this unfairly ! read more

Made a reservation, which actually cost $10 surprisingly. Got there and they said seating was outside but most of the tables are reserved so move quick. Said "oh, one of those will be mine I have a paid reservation" they said nope your reservation didn't come with a table. Asked them what kind of reservation did come with a table, they said "don't know". That may have been something to do with the event happening? Ambiance is nice, they're in one of the old factory buildings south of the Richmond refinery. Long drive past the refinery and factory spaces but follow the signs and you'll get there. Outdoor space on the water with boats going by and seagulls all very nice and pleasant. Seats and tables are the "slightly uncomfortable so you'll leave quicker" variety, mostly stools to perch on with a couple of plastic chair sets if you're quick enough to grab one. Ordering only available by QR code, QR code system requires a bunch of personal info that I didn't feel like giving to some rando back end service just to order from the people 10 feet away. Went inside and asked to order with a person, they went off to find out if that was possible. Came back and said "well I can help you order with your phone", told them no thanks. Never tried the food, ended up eating somewhere else that I really enjoyed. read more

This rating is more for Irish Monkey then Rigger's Loft (although both are great). A few months ago, I accidentally discovered Irish Monkey's old location on Google Maps. Their website was intriguing enough to make me want to try their wines. I'm no stranger to urban wines and thought to make the trek out to Richmond. Rigger's Loft itself is situated on the water and is a slide of WWII History. This venue boats a great view, with a food truck and a very hospitable tasting room crew. Our first time there, Bob happened to be hosting something for his wine members but once done, graciously came over and introduced himself and his wines to our table. He's was very approachable, funny and passionate about wine. He's been at this for nearly twenty years and it shows in his craft. Today, I was seeking some unique and good wines for our Thanksgiving Dinner and headed out of SF to Rigger's Loft specifically for Irish Monkey swill. As the time before, he had some great wines and I left with half a case in hand. I will definitely be a long time customer of his and appreciate his addition to the ever growing urban wine community in the SF Bay Area. read more

What a fun and amazing hidden treasure in Richmond - you have to wind your way through the Port of Richmond, past big lots of off-loaded cars, warehouses, industrial buildings, and finally up to the docks to get to this converted warehouse housing three wineries and a craft brewery. We were there on a Friday night to hear a friend sing in a jazz trio. The interior has of course the fermentation vats and aging barrels, but also a wine tasting bar and nice grouping of tables and comfortable sofas and coffee tables. They have food truck there on Friday and Saturdays and they were dishing up some very wine appropriate and tasty offerings. You can order tasting flights, single glasses, or bottles of the wines/beers/ciders that appeal to you. They have table service so you can relax, chat with your friends, sip some wine and enjoy the music. I enjoyed the wines that I tried - all quite good. This is a really good place to take your out of town friends as they will be mystified as to why you are taking them through the Port area - but it is worth seeking out and they will be delightfully surprised. read more
