Every day we think about how lucky we are to live in marina bay... it's becoming a foodie enclave with stunning bay views, the Sf ferry docking nearby the grand bay trail meandering along the shores, great "mild weather" it seems to always Hover between 65-75 In the day. Kayaks, yachts,bikes, wind surfing fishing and a a slew of casual fun and funky eateries cropping up. It's been a few years since Noel warmly welcomed us "neighbors" into his establishment, prior to officially opening. Through the ups n Downs of Covid and him finding his business legs, we've happily supported this spot, meeting his entire family in the process. Well he is still sweet and humble but.... Busy! I mean as in this organic wine thing is... a big THING! I hi knew??? Apparently Noel did! He's graduated from the curious neighbors and locals featuring his Purity wines, to coop with a dedicated following of passionate organic wine makers and their entourage of fans , Friends devotees; restauranteurs, and media moguls all centered around the notion of organic wines aka a cast of thousands! Damn grapes never had it so good. Case and point Point now following his Instagram account lead by his bike riding enthusiast protege, Tyler, the Study hosted a massive event last weekend. We didn't plan to attend but were curious and anxious to see if it was a success or a bust. The event By the way featured more than 20 wine makers, there was food fun music and when we drove by as nosy neighbors, we heard the music pumping. Wow the crowd was massive! Standing room only spilling onto the drive way and garage bay. Of course the crowd was typical Bay Area, ethnically diverse hip, smart and totally having a blast! You may be wondering why we didn't go? We have a puppy who is bat shit cray cray. He loves people so much he would be all over anyone who say ah cute puppy and mayhem would be the result! Not to mention the wine spillage food tables rummaged. All this even tho Noel insists we bring Koa over so the team can meet him. Well maybe a lazy Thursday or Friday evening when things aren't quite off the chain.which frankly... seems to be an impossible goal. The study wine bar is chocked full of wine related happenings and the fan base has exploded! Hell I remember I had to help Noel create his Yelp account. For 2 years he had less than 10 folks commenting! Wow times have changed! To quote Steve Harvey, You go boy!!! This was my first "natural wine" experience, and it was fairly enjoyable! We tasted 5 different wines, all from different makers affiliated with this establishment. The unique flavor of natural wine grew on me throughout the tasting, but it's quite different from traditional wines. The ambience here is authentic (if not entirely glamorous) -- at one point a big forklift full of grapes was driven right past our table! Service was super friendly and a bit slow, but overall a good value, considering we had 3 tastings and snacks for under $50. We found this place because it's only a 5 minute walk from the Richmond ferry terminal, which is super convenient! read more

The Study is in an odd place, but it was a cool vibe. We showed up for a temari pop up. Sat outside with friends and our puppy. The music was flowing and so was the natural wine. Most of my group enjoyed the red wine, but I was a fan of the strawberry sparkling white wine. Once the temari sampler came out, we were all happy. It came with 9 pieces per person. I didn't think I would get full, but it was very tasty. Every bite was well thought out with fresh ingredients. All in all I would come back to check out future pop ups. read more

Natural wine bar and importer with great prices! Confession: I am not the biggest fan of natural wines. However, I was recommended this spot by my partner-in-wine and decided to go in with an open mind! Ended up purchasing three bottles of Purity Wine to compare- a Rhône blend (Strawberry Daze), and two Syrahs (Earth & Cherry, and Umé Bashi). The Umé Bashi tasted like earth and olives, but was slightly sharp- I paired it with truffle cheese to smooth out the sharpness. The Strawberry Daze was fruit forward and tasted like young red plums. The Earth & Cherry Syrah was my favorite - more earth and dark red cherry notes! While I'm still adjusting to slightly effervescent nature that the natural winemaking process brings forth, it was a fun to expand my wine palate! I've been here multiple times and it's a fun unpretentious wine bar featuring natural wine. It's owned by Noah of Purity Wine but you will run into many other wine makers here. Last weekend I tasted and bought a lovely Oregon Gamay. Easy choice: Visit The Study! They have light food items as well or go to Golden Gate Bistro and get a fab pulled pork sandwich. While in the bay, visiting a friend and escaping the Sacramento heat, we came to the Study. The space itself for tasting is quite small, but it has a large warehouse feel to it. We sat inside on the couches, but I do believe there was also some outdoor seating. The wines were interesting - not quite what I'm used to or what I enjoy but I'm sure there's definitely a palette out there somewhere that this place speaks to. Purity Wine / The Study is such an incredible space with amazing natural wine! The two owners Noel and Barrie are wonderful people and have created a space that is easy to have fun and relax in! We have been to their wine events, pop ups, wine classes / school, tastings and also recently hosted our wedding reception here. Truly could not say more wonderful things about hosting a private event here. Would highly recommend to anyone. Barrie and Noel helped us personalize the event (including making our own wine labels for the event, tasting wines ahead of time with our family to choose what we wanted at our wedding, and met with our planner and DJs ahead of time set up the space perfectly. They also let us bring in NA drinks for our wedding guests who don't drink. The dance floor lighting and disco ball was the perfect set up and we ate dinner outside before it got dark. They also helped set up our dessert table/ wedding cake. Highly recommend this for private events and also to stop by for any pop ups or wine fairs! read more

I discovered this on my birthday weekend and loved going there. I was looking for a place, didn't want to go too far, and my husband and I both loved our visit and the food that we ate was OK. But, the wine was fantastic! What I loved is that I felt like I was in a comfortable, neighborhood wine bar. This is a wine bar that I will get to know. When in Oakland or Napa, it's a place that I will visit once and then leave. But, this place is close enough, that I'll go to regularly, once this pandemic is over. But the company was good too. The proprietor has a passion for wine making and it shows. There were also several regulars and we had a fantastic, comfy, intimate evening, with group of wine loving people.
