This is the third time we've gone there. We usually go to the Castro Valley rigatoni's but it is a little bit out of the way. The first time we went here it wasn't very good, but we gave it another try the second time was pretty good. And this third time was completely inedible. We ordered the Cajun chicken fettuccine Alfredo the garlic and the chicken were both burnt. Will not be going back to the Hayward location. Don't waste your time or money at the Hayward location Go to Castro Valley. The only good thing is that I called to complain and the manager said they would refund our money. read more

The restaurant is always very clean, and staff very friendly. One thing that I am very unhappy, there is no consistancy with the sándwich and the amount of meatballs it comes with, is 20+ for a sandwich with THREE small meatballs it dors not not seem fair at all, depending who makes it sometimes it has more and others less. Order first, before self serving. I got the chicken and spinach rigatoni and my bf got the spicy Cajun pasta. My rigatoni had Alfredo sauce which was kind of bland. I had to add a lot of chili pepper to give it some flavor. Overall, the pasta was cooked right but the sauce just needed more. They give you a lot so I have left overs. The Cajun pasta was good!! I wish it was spicer. Ambiance is nice, small restaurant at the corner. Good parking. You serve your own water, utensils, bread, etc. one worker checked in on us after giving us our food, very nice lady. The pasta was around $16 which I think coulda been better for that price. I've been coming here for quite some time, and I like this Rigatoni's!! They keep their Italian food simple, I doubt it's authentic, but that doesn't really matter. The food is good and reasonably priced!! I usually roll with the Fettuccini Alfredo or one of their specials, which is written on a small chalk board that you see upon entering. You also can get unlimited amounts of bread and butter, and the service is great!! I really liked dining in here before Covid, sitting by the window and kicking back and enjoying my meal, can't wait to get back to that again!!! read more

Our dinners from Rigatoni's were mixed. Cesar salad and garlic bread were fine. My husband's chicken Parmesan was ok, the chicken was a bit dry and overcooked, pasta accompaniment was ok. I ordered the Pasta Bolognese which was satisfying, would order it again, good size portion. The biggest disappointed was the side order of Minestrone which I would NOT order again. It was clear that the vegetables and beans had been frozen and were not completely cooked. Flavor was bland. I love Minestrone, and would not order this again. The Italian lemon cake for desert was good, if expensive. Dinner out or to go is NOT inexpensive, including this dinner. Their pasta is made from scratch right before your very eyes in their homestyle open kitchen a few feet past the counter. Yup, it's an order at the counter, they'll bring over your meal type of place. AYCE bread! 3 kinds: sourdough, "everything" with seeds/garlic/onion, and pumpernickel? No longer warm so butter doesn't spread as easily. Prices are pretty reasonable. Spaghetti with meatballs is $14.99. My favorite is the rigatoni bolognese! Al dente textured rigatoni tubes with savory red sauce mixed with cream + cheese and crumbled sausage in every bite! So good!! I also had the fettuccine with shrimp & mushrooms in creamy garlic sauce, sauce tasted a bit sweet to me, but microwaving leftovers doesn't cause oil separation in the sauce like at Olive Garden! Shrimp content is a bit skimpy when you add it on to a dish. $3 for 6 pieces. Garlic cheese bread is enough for two people. Eat it as soon as it's served! Gooey cheesiness. Almost forgot we ordered spinach cheese tortellini with shrimp. Fantastic! You can't go wrong with any of their fresh made pastas. Caesar salad was ok, also tasted sweet to me. As far as taste goes, I definitely would say Rigatoni's is delicious. We had ordered several types of pastas for a mini gathering as well as garlic bread and everything was great. I would recommend any to anyone who loves pasta. But as far as service, I think there is space for some improvement. Granted we picked up our order earlier in the day (around 11am), the person at the register wasn't as helpful. And when we thought there was something missing in our order, she came out to double check but had a pretty bad attitude about it. Hopefully it was just in the moment that the service wasn't as pleasant, but I would definitely go there if you're craving for some pasta. read more

We are not new to Rigatoni's as we've been there a plenty of times before our situation changed where we don't get out as much. So we decided to order online from Grubhub and it was delivered to perfection! Everything in the order was hot and fresh, and the garlic bread, it was super delicious. Rigatoni tasted very good and so did the spaghetti. I appreciate the extra layers of foil wrap to keep the garlic bread fresh when it arrives via delivery a delivery driver. It made for a great dinner. But we got full halfway so we saved the rest for lunch today. It's just a meal you don't want to pass up on a Friday or any day of the week. Not the best pasta to be completely honest, even olive garden is better than here & that's saying a lot! We were passing so we decided to try. We didn't eat inside, i'm not too entirely sure they even had a dine-in option as there wasn't anybody eating there. Either that or they're not really popular but regardless, we got takeout. Now, if you go back to my previous reviews about pasta, you'll see that i live for fettuccine alfredo. Rigatoni's fettuccine alfredo just is not it. I can't even give it a rating because i have no description for it. My wife got their lasagna & that is the ONLY reason why i am giving 2 stars. It wasn't the best she ever had either, she also agrees that there are a whole lot of other better places to get lasagna. But it was decent is the thing, it was actually sort of saucy & wasn't dry like mine. The woman that i picked up from was very blah, wasn't really helpful so i gave the minimum tip because my toxic trait is that i always tip regardless of what server there is. We ordered the Grilled Chicken with Mushroom and pasta. It included a small bread with the meal for $16.99. The sauce is very creamy and pretty darn good. It's similar to chicken marsala minus the marsala wine. The amount of food is good. I would say they are on par with Olive Garden. I'll come by and try out their lunch specials next time to see if their other items are as good. The waiter was very friendly. Overall it gives of a homey vibe. Food: Came in about 10 minutes. The cheesey garlic bread was a bit salty for my taste and doesn't taste garlicky enough for my liking, but soft bread makes up for it (I'm not one for rock hard "crunchy" bread). The pesto and pine nuts pasta was a bit disappointing since you can't taste the pesto under all that cream. The chicken they used is the cheapest cut of chicken breast. It's been a long time since we've been to Rigatoni's. Back then we would go to the one in Castro Valley because that was where I used to live or when we were around the area. Hubby was craving pesto pasta and the only place I could think of around Hayward was Rigatoni's. After our relaxing massage, we decided to grab lunch! Upon arriving we were greeted and got our orders taken. We both ordered pesto pasta and one drink to share. A number was given and we went to find a seat. After about 15 minutes our pastas came. I really enjoyed the creamy pesto pasta that they made. Hubby on the other hand was hoping for it to be a little different. When I make pesto pasta it's not as creamy as Rigatoni's. It was more of just a nice coat of pesto on my dish that he likes and was hoping for that. He still liked it, but just wanted it a bit different. Haven't been in over 2 years. While the chicken was fresh and the bread plentiful, the portions have gotten smaller and some things are cheaper. They now have margarine instead of real butter. They only have plain white French bread. No longer have the seeded baguette or the dark brown bread. The "olive oil" is yellow and definitely mixed with canola or corn oil. Not the real stuff they used to have. Some of the chicken in my sisters dish was freezer burnt. Overall, somewhat overpriced for sub par food. Quality is gone. Service was friendly. I don't ever remember having an experience this positive at a Rigatoni's before. The food did NOT taste like cheap Americanized Italian food, it tasted like genuinely high-quality food crafted by a skilled chef. Rigatoni's also seems to be one of the few remaining restaurants that doesn't skimp on the parmesean, and just has full dispensers of it on the tables, which is fantastic. I always drive by this place every time I go into Target. My 14 year old son went to when he was 11 years old at the Castro valley location. He had the spaghetti and said it was good. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations last night. I was a babysitting 3 kids and 2 on my own so I decided to not cook dinner but to order take out. Everyone agreed on spaghetti and looks like this was the closest thing to us. I always like to give business a chance even with 3 stars rating. I've gone to Italian restaurants all over and had some great spaghetti. Frozen dinners are comparable but probably better. We ordered 2 spaghetti, garlic bread, 2 Cesar salads and 2 cheesecakes. Spaghetti- barley no sauce, and it's just a light tomato to sauce and 4 big meatballs. To describe it, it's like the boiled the noodles and dumped a can of pasta sauce and frozen meatballs and warmed it up. I could have made this 10X better with meat sauce included. Lack of flavor. 2/10 Garlic bread- decent but came hard 3/10 Caesar salad- very basic, the only thing that was flavorful and thankful the lettuce was crisp and not old 3/10 Cheesecake- basic, takes like the ones from Luckys/Safeway. 5/10 Maybe there are other great dishes here? So crazy average that it totally serves a purpose. To feed suburban families, Americanized Italiano. And this is why I give it an A-OK three, because I simply do not see anything "wrong" with it. Let's face it, 90% of suburbanites use/or have used grocery jarred sauces and dried pasta. Now how one elevates it, can vary like crazy. So the point is, for a pasta meal the bar isn't set too high, especially if you're trying to feed multiple mouths. The pricing isn't cheap here, $10-$15 per entrée (no complimentary soup/salad either), but it is hearty enough to either split or pack for future meals. Which is why I always see lots of families here. Been here multiple times and here are some finds: Minestrone (4*) Don't know if its homemade, but it fulfills the minestrone definition. Hearty, good chunks of veggies and a tart tomato-y broth. Dump (not sprinkle) the decent soft parm that's in the shakers and get ready to dip their cold sliced baguettes in. Legitly decent. Chicken Caeser (4*) I like to split this. Pretty good as the chicken breast is grilled to order so it has a nice tenderness. Romaine crisp and cold, dressing pretty standard. Croutons aren't mixed into the dressing which is common but a tragedy to me. Spaghetti and Meatballs (3*) I think all their pastas don't reach 4* level. Mostly because the pasta has a gummy like texture, from not being boiled long enough, even through the reheat. And it doesn't get "cooked" into the sauce, so the sauce doesn't penetrate the pasta. A good pasta dish, everything melds. Here it seems disjointed, which gives it a cafeteria quality, more than nice restaurant quality. The meatballs taste premade but not bad. Very close to Ikea meatballs, especially in texture. I didn't love this dish, but I also most certainly didn't hate it. Italian Sausage with Marinara (3*) This usually comes with a cream sauce, but I'm more into red sauces. Their marinara is basically crushed canned tomatoes so it isn't crazy clingy. It does have a good dose of dried basil, which is the saving grace. Sliced mushrooms are there, but they are more raw than they are supple and meaty, like a good cooked mushroom turns into. I just don't know why they don't throw the sauce/ingredients into a skillet and blast it with heat along with the pasta. As it all boils together it would come together as one. But instead it seems it just gets tossed in a bowl last minute, which does little for my impression. The presentations are very clean though. Picture wise, you could pass some of the stuff as "nicer" restaurant fare. But upon tasting, nope, it definitely looks better than it taste. The worker at the cashier was very polite and helpful, he recommended a couple of things, I ended up ordering Spaghetti and Clams, and The food was Plated very nicely and it looked really appetizing. I had ordered a light combo, which was an order of pasta and a salad.
