This review is strictly on the customer service not the baked goods. I have been a customer for years at Riesterer's and have always been welcomed with such bright and cheery staff. As I was waiting in line today, I overheard the conversation the person in front of me was having with the sales girl. The sales girl was SO RUDE to the customer I was shocked. The person wanted to order a cake and was trying to explain what she was looking for. The sales girl said "well I don't know what you want so I can't help you." It blew my mind. The customer began getting flustered and finally walked out empty handed. I hoped I wouldn't get her to wait on me but unfortunately she was my sales girl. I first wanted some cake pops and she had no ideas on the flavors. Then I asked what type of cookie the decorative beach scenes were and her response was "I don't know, you try it and tell me." I was stunned and didn't think it could get any worse. I ended up getting my favorite chocolate chip cookie which was delicious. She had the worst attitude and customer service I have even encountered. Very disappointed. She is going to end up driving away customers. I wish I caught her name because she needs to brush up on her customer service skills. read more

My husband asks for Black Forest cake quite often for his birthday. Unfortunately I live in an area where the closest bakery is located in a supermarket. The supermarket Black Forest cakes are barely passable. Just recently a work associate told me that when I called him, he was having a donut at a German bakery nearby my work site in West Hempstead. That bakery is Riesterer's. I went there after work and purchased a Black Forest cake for my husband. Later that night we each had a slice of it for dessert. I learned then why this is my husband's favorite cake. The cake was masterly prepared; the moist chocolate cake, cherries and whipped cream, all absolutely delicious. read more

I needed a cake for my daughter's Christening and like all things we forgot about getting the cake. My wife then called Reisterers and they were very understanding and had the cake we want for the party within 24 hours. And it's nice to have a family owned business give you personal attention. As a West Hempstead resident, I know they have been around forever, but we never went in there. The first time is a charm as they worked with us like we were loyal customers for years. read more

Entering Sapienza Pastry, I was flabbergasted at what I saw. I will get back to that, but first I must tell you how I was treated. Walking inside dressed casual, I see Sapienza decorated with pastry items and bakery items while immediately receiving a hearty welcome along with exemplary customer service engagement with a smile at Sapienza pasty. I mean, after all, greeting someone when they walk in, is good ethics for a business. I was waited on by one of the staff members and the engagement that I was given was- "beyond customer service interaction" and for that I am grateful. Sapienza pastry is your full service pastry go- to, there is no if's, and's, nor but's about that. Sadly it took me three years to find out. So there will be no more going to Floral Park. Sapienza pastry has everything, I am talking cookies, cakes, personalized occasional cakes, cheese cakes, cannoli's. They even have, (drum roll- this is where I was flabbergasted) NAPOLEON'S in variety!!!! Drop the spatulas and walk off!!! WHAT??? I was like a kid in Sapienza's pastry shop. I asked what the pastry was next to the Napoleon pastry. I was told that it was an old fashioned Napoleon. OMG are you kidding me!! I have seen one before but did not know it was old fashioned, I just thought people didn't know how to make the Napoleon pastry because I've only seen it with the icing on top. The Classic French Style-Mille-Fuelle- Napoleon pastry* is known as milli-feuille- stacked layers of flaky, crispy puff pastry filled with rich pastry cream or custard. It's an elegant dessert that is celebrated for its contrasting texture. HA- ELEGANT DESERT! It is topped with two layers of rich vanilla pastry cream/ creme patissière. This has always been a D'licious treat but very sweet yet enjoyable to taste. The Old fashioned Russian Style (Napoleon Cake)* assembled like a cake and constituted of 8 to 16 layers of thin pastry layers. This exterior is greatly different from the classic as you will see when as captured this image, it is completely coated in pastry cream and covered in a blanket of fine tasted pastry crumbs. NOW this is a pastry to die for. This is my new found love and I am so happy to have finally tasted this difference. I will now forever continue to delight myself in the old fashioned style asI did find it really d'licious and not too sweet. This is one of the real reasons that I love to Yelp, because I can discover delicious pastry shops and I can... Inspire more, Yelp more!
