We met Ali in September and right off the bat, he was courteous, friendly, and not pushy. In my experience, getting roof estimates were like buying a car, all of them treat you as if you are "targeted sale". I can honestly say I didn't get that vibe at all from Ali. We got an honest opinion, more than honest help, and most importantly a great price for a brand new quality roof that didn't give us a heart attack. His guys that came out and did a great job on the roof and clean up. They worked very efficiently and diligently. Everyone was very professional and CLASS A+ WORK! I would recommend them for any home improvement job! I can only hope that in thirty-plus years time, I can have them back to do another roof. Word to the wise! Go with these guys for a great price and solid workmanship!

We were looking to have a composite deck built and were provided several referrals. I have…read moreexperience with construction and built our previous deck, so wanted someone I thought could perform at a high level and stay on schedule. After meeting with four different contractors we chose Wilderness Construction based on our initial positive discussions and confidence that they could get the project done quickly. The beginning stages were positive and Steve was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. The framing and permit process also went well. But the remainder of the process was an absolute nightmare. The first three photos are examples of how they left the deck after rushing to get the job done the first time. Scratches over 4-5 feet long, several gouges, completely dirty. I work from home and witnessed several of the workers tossing the composite decking across the frame many times, so I wasn't all that surprised. We had composite decking before and these were clearly not the normal scratches caused by use...this was clearly from their poor quality of install. I was obviously not pleased and reached out to Steve to rectify. After some back and forth he and the company agreed that the decking was installed poorly and not up to their expectation. In fact the decking was so bad they actually agreed to remove every deck board and start over. The second time around they did a better job overall and actually put a little effort into installing the boards. They called me out to have me give my approval and I mentioned overall it looked much better, but the section they were currently working on had way too big of gaps (measured 1/2" instead of the 1/8" spacers they were supposedly using) and asked if they could please fix that. They indicated they would, but then two hours later the trucks peeled out of here without addressing. They also miscut the stair treads and tried to glue in a little piece in several spots (they didn't do this the first time so this was clearly not correct). The last two photos show the large gaps and the miscut. We originally referred them to other people but quickly withdrew that, and the company that referred us to them also strongly agreed with our opinion and indicated that they would no longer be referring. If you're looking to have a composite deck built please save yourself the money, frustration and poor quality of work and go elsewhere.

Had work done recently on our condo balcony. I admit that it was my fault for not reading the…read moreestimate in detail- however, there was faulty communication through our condo board as well. Wilderness was to be replacing our balcony decking as well as a fascia wrap. It was my assumption that the deck boards and wrap were all going to be Trex as the board wanted everything to look uniform on the outside. The estimate stated the boards were going to be pressure treated wood. HOWEVER- I was NEVER given the the price difference, nor was the option EVER discussed that we had the option of pressure treated wood or Trex. I spoke with Dan this morning and he insists that I was told the difference- $1200- of COURSE I would have gone with that option. Now I have ugly pressure treated wood to look at.

Beware of Joe Hileman …read more He is completely dishonest . He met with us and presented himself as a father and son company . Not at all . We never saw him pick up a hammer! Never saw his son again either . Instead we saw several crews of non English speaking men mulling around our property. Anytime we did see Joe he never had time to talk with us . Was always in a hurry to get to another appointment. Basically , we had a new roof installed, some trim and some siding which he installed the wrong kind that doesn't match. Trim doesn't match either! They used my shingles,! So the job should have not cost so much ? Nope . They removed a concrete slab that we didn't want to be moved . They removed barn doors and never replaced them . They never completed the job! They left gutters off too . The whole experience was a nightmare. I could go on and on about all of this companies mistakes. We don't speak Spanish so we were unable to communicate with his workers. The worst was the bill ! Unbelievable. The bottom line was to have a bunch of Mexicans on my property for two months all needing a paycheck! Absolutely, no communication whatsoever with Hileman . We had no idea that he was going to give us a huge bill ! Since this mess we've had to spend thousands of dollars to fix numerous problems and we are still not done spending money. ! I hope you read this Joe because you know it's the truth

Compared to other contractors that I know, Matrix deserves 5 stars. I gave only 4 because nobody is perfect, but they come pretty close in the world of contracting. 4.5 would be more precise. What got our attention mostly is the material they use. The walls are made with foam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of magnesium board. A basement flood won't destroy your basement, and the material is stronger than regular drywall. The drop ceiling sits straight and the floor looks great too. At first we wanted to know how much just the material would cost us, because we wanted to save money the dyi way. During the estimation process we had them price out the complete contract as well. Then we decided to save ourselves a lot of headaches by letting them do almost the whole job. I like doing the finishing work myself, such as trim and doors. That saved us a few bucks and gives me a few weekend projects.

I knew they were one of the most…read moreexpensive options, and I was willing to pay a premium for quality service, but instead, I ended up with a higher price and lower‑level service. From the very beginning, things went wrong. They didn't get one of the room sizes correct, it was literally the size of a closet -- and then tried to blame the blueprints, even though their own measurements were wrong. Despite that, they still charged me to fix their mistake. Then, after agreeing to a $107,000 price to finish my basement (yes, they are that expensive), they had the audacity to bill me separately for the permits. Imagine agreeing to a six‑figure renovation and then being told the permits aren't included. They claimed it was "in the fine print," even though the fine print only says the home owner is responsible for the permits, however it doesn't say that the cost is separate from the total. To make matters worse, they still haven't picked up their trash (pictures below have been in my basement for the last month and a half). It's been sitting in my basement and garage, and the project has been at a standstill for four weeks with zero communication or progress. Stay far away from this company. They are extremely overpriced and provide terrible customer service.
