I experienced a right balance of being challenged and allowed to breathe into my rusty body:-). I took a Bodyhoo yoga class, but there are Pilates mat, apparatus, aerial hammock classes also available. Also, the playlist is soooo good! I finally agreed, rearranged my schedule, and traveled to a location so far out of the way it required logistical planning worthy of a business trip. On the day of my class, I arrived five minutes late. That is my responsibility. But what happened next speaks volumes about the culture of this studio. I was met -- in full view of multiple front-desk staff members silently watching -- with a flat, unyielding refusal to join. The stated reason? That I would "miss the full experience" of a 30-minute class. Yet when I checked in, the class was still in its opening phase -- everyone seated on reformers, listening to the instructor talk. In other words: I wasn't missing anything but the chance to be treated with basic courtesy. As a Latina, I have experienced enough to recognize the passive-aggressive racial undertones in someone's delivery, and this was a textbook example. They did "offer" to reschedule -- but only at times so impractical they might as well have said, "Don't bother." That's not accommodation. That's a calculated brush-off. The contrast is staggering: a studio that invests more effort in cold-calling and pressuring potential clients than in welcoming them once they arrive. This isn't an oversight -- it's a choice, and it tells you exactly who they value and who they don't.

The space was nice and cooling with a good view since we were on the fourth floor. Pilates kicked my butt literally, I didn't realize how many muscles it would target. My core and glutes were on fire at the end. We were doing the Pilates reformer class, and it involved a lot of stretching and holding with the machine. Even though this was my first time, the instructor's direction was easy to follow. Time passed by super fast, and by the end of the class, the next class was already rushing in.

Also it's a little bit cramped and gets a little bit busy in some regards but overall I like the place and they think it's a good gym - better than a lot of the ones in Queens and Brooklyn as well. Not as lavish and fancy as Manhattan but then you wouldn't expect to be. They've done a good job for Ridgewood and if they just had some great parking then I would probably give them five stars. Fairly new equipment across the board kind of like mine. I parked illegally for 3 hours and nothing happened to my car, but the fact that there was no legal parking (and I looked for a long time) is the only reason I can't give 5. One of the employees had a crush on me, and it was mutual. She gets 5, easy. I guess I'm easy, too.

I love coming here for pilates classes twice a week and my favorite instructors so far are Cynthia and Caitlin! Both women are so knowledgeable and provide good feedback to help me improve. They facilitate a friendly and welcoming environment for us all and I truly look forward to each class. Thank you for making this a workout that I really enjoy and hope to continue for many years.
