I signed up for Classpass and this was the first class I signed up for. It was a great first experience. There were only 4 of us In the class. I appreciated Doria's patience throughout the class. She broke down each movement and made the class very enjoyable. I look forward to returning. The studio was clean and after class we each wiped down our respective machines and accessories we used.

Ask the Community - Spencer Pilates Arts

My only conception of reformer pilates is solidcore, so just curious how similar or different this studio's classes are in terms of their machines, class format, intensity etc?

This studio is going to be very different that a chain-style branded studio. Many of the teachers have studied traditional pilates, which uses resistances which are strong but not overloading. Studios like solidcore prefer overloaded restances-…

Does this place have classes for beginners?

I don't think there is a class solely for beginners, but most of their reformer classes are open-level, meaning they are easy enough for beginners and modifiable for intermediate or advanced students. I recommend a private session if you don't think…

How do i cancel a reservation for a class?

You can login to your account, go to "My Info" tab on the upper left hand corner, and from there you see "My Schedule". All the classes you have scheduled will be listed and you can click the Cancel button from there.

Previously before 2020, I practiced in their LIC establishment when they were open. Their Astoria studio is very close to public transportation so it is convenient for those who use the Queens buses or M/R trains. I choose this particular yoga studio based on their hot yoga classes and highly recommend any and all classes and teachers. There are a variety of times to choose from, so I found time most of the week to take a class and get used to the flow. Besides the helpful and friendly staff, I find that their amenities are excellent if I accidentally don't bring certain things such as towels or even a yoga mat. The ambience of the studio is very calming for those who need tranquility. Membership is highly recommended over individual classes. Accepts cash and card. Mind Body and Class Pass users as well as drop ins. Bathrooms, shower and unisex locker rooms available. Open decently late. Classes everyday. Clean and safe.

The classes aren't overcrowded, and the teachers are great. We loved the variety--Hot Vinyasa is a super intense workout, standard Vinyasa brings total calmness, and Vinyasa Flow is the perfect middle ground. We dropped it to 4 stars due to the pricing and schedule. A $20 drop-in fee and monthly memberships are way too high for Queens--they're closer to Manhattan prices. Also, working until 6 PM leaves me rushing only to hot yoga. We'd love to see more variety in the later weekday schedule!

The workout is as easy or challenging as you make it, and modifications are always provided to make movements more accessible, with instructors providing detailed guidance on form. The mindfulness/breathwork section at the end of very class is also very rejuvenating. I usually take their Signature60 format, but enjoy taking the B3 Strength and Mindful Flow formats every now and then as well for some variety. The studio itself is beautiful and very spacious, with tall ceilings/windows and plants/cute decor displayed throughout that make the studio feel very cozy. They even have free coffee in the mornings! The staff is also incredibly kind and welcoming, both the front desk staff and the instructors!

While we seek for fun classes for lil dancers, we would like to see more corrections to learn the proper forms. Some classes are way too large. The waiting area is chaotic. There are often two classes begin and dismiss at the same time. The only changing room is in one of the class rooms. You have no choice, but change in the waiting are. Some wall hooks would be very helpful to free up the seats. The receptionist is always very kind, polite and considerate which is a plus. The sad looking bathroom needs a lot of help. The toilette paper hanger has been broken for ages and it's never fixed. The cleaner can also do a better job. The elevator has been out of order for at least 4 months if not more. The hookah lounge downstairs emits very strong smell that is also in the dance studio. I truly hope that this establishment will find a better space soon!!! ----//--- Update review (6/2018) My child has been taking ballet here for the past 3.5 years. It was all play before age 6. Then the students are taught more advance moves. Just saw the entire studio's performances for the first time. What a disappointment! The high level groups don't show any advancement. If you are looking for serious ballet, this isn't for you. What a big waste of money! No more classes there! Also 90 % of the kids of the entire studio were wearing the same costumes. Who does that? I am glad my child's grandparents couldn't be there. I feel terrible for the older audiences. I myself had a hard time finding my child on stage.
