Sirloin burger with onion rings.
Jeremías C.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I got a sirloin cheese burger. It was cooked perfectly but I don't think the burger was seasoned. It lacked salt and it was a really thick patty. You have to pay extra for onion rings and the onion rings were ok. My kids got a grilled cheese and a Mac and cheese. They enjoyed it. The waitress gave us great service. She was engaged with our kids. My wife thought her burger was ok. The location was in a great spot beautifully decorated. Bathrooms were very clean. My biggest complaint would be the prices. 2 burgers 1 plain mac and cheese 1 grilled cheese was about 80 dollars. It's a nice place but I don't think I would go back.

Sirloin Burger with Sweet Potato Fries
Joseph S.

I'm visiting family and friends in Wilmette and had breakfast on Sunday, and lunch on Thursday at the Ridgeview Grill. I thought I would combine both meals into this review. For breakfast on Sunday, I had pancakes, and an omelette with hash browns and toast. I selected the Garden Omelette, it was very good. The egg was fluffy and had a substantial amount of spinach, broccoli, onions, tomatoes and feta (I substituted instead of mozzarella) cheese. I forgot to ask to have the omelette made with butter, which I believe substantially adds to the flavor of the egg, but the oil they used was fine. The hash browns were crispy on the outside, not too oily, and cooked just right .....we added salt and ketchup and they were delicious. If you saw the picture of the pancakes I attached, you'll see they're small, and flat. They come with the omelette (you get the choice of toast or pancakes). It appears they're made in large batches and may have been sitting on top of each other. That being said, while I was hoping for a large, fluffy pancake, this one at least, was soft and tasted fine....and given the choice of toast and pancakes in the future, I'll still take the pancakes! I went back to the Grill on Thursday and had the sirloin burger with sweet potato fries. I like my burgers 'medium well', which I've found is next to impossible to get right. Restaurants can't seem to figure out how to leave the center pink, not red, or well done. This one was well done; but juicy, tender and flavorful, which was fine with me. The sweet potato fries were very good - I've read some reviews where there were criticisms for lack of salt. I like adding my own salt - so on my hash browns for breakfast and the sweet potatoes for lunch, I added salt and they were perfect.

Athenian Chicken

Everything is amazing here. I got the Athenian chicken today and I paid the up charge for the French onion soup. Husband got the meatloaf with blue cheese crumbles and chicken noodle soup. Everything is so fresh. Well seasoned and great customer service.

Slow service, not so great (and very salty) food. Not interested in going back. However, very clean.

Casual atmosphere, good food and selection of microbrews. Nothing special on the menu, though.

We ordered the shrimp tacos, truffle parmesan fries, and the vodka pasta. The shrimp tacos were definitely the star for me -- super flavorful, fresh, and had a nice little kick without being too much. The truffle fries were also really good and easy to share, especially with the extra aioli on the side. The vodka pasta was creamy, comforting, and just one of those solid dishes if you want something filling and reliable. Everything came out looking really nice, portions were decent, and the whole meal felt like a cute little dinner moment. The ambiance definitely adds to the experience here too -- it's one of those places people come to for the vibe, but the food still holds up. Overall, I'd come back especially for the tacos and fries. Cute trendy spot for dinner if you want good food and a fun atmosphere.

At the end of our meal he turned to me and said "it either used to be way better here or maybe the restaurants in the burbs have just gotten a lot better over time." Our meal last night at Pescadero was just A-OK. Our waiter got the job done, but wasn't overly helpful. Ex: he asked after we put in our entree if we wanted anything else and we decided to throw in some oysters. He then told us he didn't know if he could get them out before our entrees since he already put in the order. Well he asked, didn't he? When we asked if the east or west coast oysters were meatier his response was "they are all the same here." They get a star for having Riesling and it was a pretty tasty one. We had very unexciting shrimp cocktail and oysters for our apps. I would skip both next time, which is sad for a seafood & oyster bar. For my entree I got the scallops special. According to my last review from here i loved the scallops. These scallops (served with risotto) were enjoyable, but would probably order something else next time. And my husband said his salmon was just fine. I love a good seafood & oyster bar so bummed this didn't live up to our past meals here, but it's a nice atmosphere so was still a nice Sat evening out in downtown Wilmette.

It came out on a sizzling plate which made it feel extra legit, and the salad was actually beautifully plated...not just a throwaway side. That said... for $24, I still kinda feel like they should've just included the miso soup instead of charging extra. BUT -- the miso soup? They did NOT skimp. And I just have to mention that the service is outstanding and attentive. We decided to go with a plethora of dishes starting with their fried calamari to share. Perfectly tender with a light batter and served with both a house marinara and lemon aioli. Personally I LOVED the lemon aioli but the marinara not so much. I was just expecting more of a robust flavor from it. I chose my main from their 2 course lunch which is a pretty damn good deal. I chose the Baby Gem Salad and their Siena Smashburger and I knew I made a wise decision. The Gem Salad was actually the perfect lunch size and the burger...whoa. I know my burgers and this one was a good smash burger. It wasn't 'glammed' up like some burgers which I appreciated. Just the right amount of sauce and simple condiments. Next menu item...the Prosciutto and Fig Pizza. Ok today I learned that Bar Siena has major Neapolitan pizza game. The marriage of flavors drive me crazy. The crust, the toppings and even the arugula! I'm not a fan of arugula as I find it to be a little too pungent but I don't know what they did but this was so smooth and that pungent flavor was absent.
