A quiet, family, run RV park just on the edge of Silver City, New Mexico. This RV park offers…read moreapproximately 25 sites all with water and power. Reservations can be made with an on line form, but at the end of the day all reservations are finalized over the phone. No confirmation emails are provided by this business. Upon arrival we were met at the check-in office by an individual in a golf cart, who guided us directly to our campsite. The campsites are fairly close together, however a row of brush/trees does offer a bit of privacy. At arrival we were also provided the camp guidelines/rules that outline the number of items that are not posted on their website nor were we informed when we phoned for the reservation. A couple of very important items that are not mentioned on the website is that there is only one combined toilet/shower facility for the entire campground. While this may work for big rig RVs. this does not work for many. I think it's very important to note for anyone looking to stay at this location that the single bathrooms/shower is not handicapped accessible should they need that type of accommodation. There are no outdoor fires or charcoal barbecues permitted, even during low fire season, propane only. If you do not have a propane grill, they were offering rentals and/or the free use of a community space for grilling. It should be noted that the owners reside on the property and they had a charcoal grill and charcoal, which is contrary to their own rules. We were also noted at check-in, that once we had checked in, we could not change our reservation and there would be no refunds if we chose to shorten our stay. Having a pop-up camper, we typically rely on campground amenities, such as public bathrooms and showers; this RV park having only one combination bathroom and shower for the entire campground, which also is a little outdated and quite frankly could've been a little cleaner. While limitation of only one facility was not a problem while we were here it did delay our departure, as only one of us could use the facility at a time. While this may work for some, had we known about the bathroom and shower situation beforehand we would not have booked this location. There are a number of washers and dryers available for use with payment. Games, cards, etc. we're available for campers. Other than the washing facilities, games, and a gathering place that was enclosed there's really not many more amenities at this location. There are no nearby trails, bike paths or running paths. Attempts for a morning run through the nearby neighborhood resulted in being chased by loose dogs! The public road to the facility can be a little rough in some spots particularly if you are pulling a trailer. The family was pleasant and they do offer a complementary barbecue on Saturday nights if you happen to stay in the area and there is nice socialization among the camp regulars. It does appear that a number of the campers at this location are here for longer term rentals and have larger campers that do not require use of the public facilities. While there is restaurants and shopping within 10 to 15 minute drive, there is absolutely nothing within walking distance. I would strongly encourage this business to post the information on their welcome documents in the website, so that it's crystal clear for customers as to what they should expect. I would also encourage this business to provide confirmation emails that reiterate the information noted above. I typically rely on reviews for alot of my choices as to where I stay when I go camping. I also hope that the business owners enhance their website information, and pricing structure, to allow customers expectations and what they provide to align.

Let me start with the unpaved, unkempt 7 mile wash board dirt road. Management as well as…read moremaintenance are slacking to keep this road which leads in & out of the campsite drivable especially with an RV. After assessing my situation of damages visiting Burro homestead cost me $3,000, due to needed an alignment on my coach, and another new water pump, I say another because I had just replaced it, but with all the violent rocking back and forth for 7 miles on an unkempt road at 3-5 MPH it loosened my check valve & I had a busted leaky pex pipe as well. But wait there's alot more, but It's actually so much to write I'll give everyone a ballpark shorter version of the damages. My plastic panels in the cab popped out, the overhead bed came loose, and now I have a squeaky noise coming from somewhere that I cannot identify nor find. I had never had any squeaks nor rattling of any kind until I went to Burro plus to add one of the maintenance guys I think James he offered to see my water pump, but when he came he had a different attitude and didn't want to look at anything puffed up his chest and was so rude to me. I never met a cowboy who was not true to his word I didn't expect him to do any work for free i told him I didn't have cash, but we live in a digital world money transfers every day with a click of a button, I could have paid him with Zelle, Venmo or any other money transfers available. Long story short DO NOT GO TO BURRO HOMESTEAD IN SILVER CITY NM, you will regret it as I did, and the staff seem welcoming, but once they have your money they don't care that's why they expect payment up front booking through the website before you get there, and there are signs stating no refunds because the place is a dumpsite instead of a campsite. To be honest the only thing I enjoyed were the hot showers, the water pressure was excellent, but still earned one star for the damages on my rig.

I am not a huge fan of…read morecamping but was happy to stay in their deluxe cabin, which has an AC unit and was the perfect amount of space for my husband and two small children. There was one full size bed with 1 bunkbed with a bathroom and shower. There was also a fridge, toaster, microwave and a coffee maker. There are 8-9 cabins total and space for RVs to park. The campground felt safe for the kids to run around, which brought my normal anxiety level down. It was nice that the kids were tablet free because there were endless amounts of games and activities to do in their game room such as PacMan, Foosball, and Ping Pong. There is also a playground with an open field to run around, a sandbox and a basketball court. Then there's the gift shop. We almost bought the entire store from all the cool apparel, accessories, souvenirs and gifts that were there. What made the whole experience worth it were the hosts, Josh and Mary. They treated us like we were family and were very hospitable. Although our trip was short, we were able to check out downtown and visit the City of Rocks, which is about a 30 min drive from the campground. Parking is $5 for the day. I would definitely come back to Silver City KOA annually!

Probably the worst KOA we have ever visited. The grounds were basically gravel and stickers and…read morenot well maintained. Basic rules were not enforced. 10pm to 7am quiet time was violated and not enforced nearly every night we were there. From late night arrivals that left their bright lights on all night to the late night arrival that had kids up and loud until after midnight and then the adults stayed awake talking and laughing until well pas 1:00 am. Did not get much sleep those two nights. The icing on the cake was our neighbors Pit Bull. It was tied to one of the patio chairs. When I walked my mini golden doodle past the site, it charged, pulling the chair across about 20 feet of gravel street going straight for my dog. I got between the two and the Pit Bull simply mowed me down(I am 80 years old) and was headed to my dog's throat. Kept the Pit Bull away from my dog but in that effort, my hand was bitten. Finally, my wife got our dog in the trailer and I was left on the ground holding onto the Pit Bull with a bleeding hand. Finally two men from other sites responded to our yell's for help and came down and took control of the Pit and helped me up. Owners were absent, one sleeping and one in the bathroom but finally showed up. Called 911 and sheriff and paramedics showed up. Filed the appropriate reports. When asked for rabies documentation, it was not to be had though they said it was available. Left the next day and finally found out that there would be no rabies vaccine documentation forthcoming. I was back home by then and was directed by my doctor to immediately go to an emergency room and begin the rabies 9 shot two week shot protocol The KOA people, while seemingly nice people, said they had no control over what dogs people brought. All other KOA campsites we visited had dog restrictions, no pit bulls, Dobermans and rottweilers, not this place one. There was no enforcement of the quiet times or limited categories for animals. The did not want to take any accountability or responsibility for what happened other than to say, "I am so sorry". Not sure we will continue to go to KOA campsites. Will certainly make sure they have limitations and enforcement.

I finally made up a sign and put it in front of my trailer and it started working out. Then I found out I was responsible for mowing the weeds on my space. Whoat construction worker carries a lawn mower and a weed eater? Just another way for them to get into your pocket. My electric bill went from a reasonable 50-55 dollars a month to over $100-110 a month for a 8 x 30 trailer. I know people with 4 bedroom homes that don't pay that. I complained but to no availI was there for about 9 months, never missed or was late on my rent. Then I get a notification from the manager that my check came back said insufficient funds. I had over $3000 in the account. Immediately, no consideration for the fact that I had been a long standing loyal Tennant the manager sent me an email and said I owed $35.00 for an insufficient funds check and a late fee of $25.00. Well it ended up that the check was not declined for insufficient funds. It was a bank error, but I will tell you these people did not cut me an ounce of slack. They came at me hard like I was some kind of low life that didn't pay his rent on time and did this sort of thing all of the time. These people are disgusting human beings. And on top of all of this they did this during the coronavirus pandemic. They have no consideration for anyone, they are not courteous, they are after the almighty dollar and will screw you trying to get it. I would stay away from this low end park. There are many other options. Joyce the manager won't respond to your emails or texts. Walter the owner must live in lala land, or maybe California. He strikes me as being one of those type of people, you know the California type. A real low end park stay away.
