comfy recliner!
Cassandra W.

Having stayed at a Motel 6 in Arizona for the past 3 nights I'm glad I found Copper Manor in Silver City. This place is way nicer. The two things I like best: comfy recliner (when do you ever get that at an inexpensive hotel?) and SOFT towels. The towels are especially appreciated since the ones at Motel 6 were like sandpaper...thin, puny sheets of sandpaper. Besides that, it's a very big room with crispy clean sheets, and the fridge has an actual separate, sizeable freezer (important for me since I'm here for research and have to freeze my samples). Air conditioner and wi-fi work fine and unlike Motel 6 you only have to re-enter the wi-fi password the first time you log on. The interior does have a 1970s look but that doesn't make the room less comfortable, just less modern. I'm giving it 4 stars because I gotta keep it real -- it's not a 5 star hotel.

The room was extremely clean and seemed newly remodeled. The proprietor, Bobby, was most helpful.

Both the green and red chile were perfect-not too hot but enough to make your lips pleasantly burn. I even bought Hatch fresh roasted, peeled and diced green Chile in bulk (frozen) in their stocked store, as well as a jar of Hatch red chili sauce for when I make my own cheese enchiladas at home. I should've gotten their homemade salsa to go as well, which is as good as any I've tasted in NM. We had heard from a local about this place and made the mistake of not driving all the way into Hurley (only a mile off highway) and mistook a gas station diner that is not even worth mentioning here (neither of us finished or even ate half of our breakfast). We realized we had the wrong place as we were about to head back to Silver City (about 10 mi or 25 min away from the heart of downtown). We decided we were still hungry enough to at least split something and are we glad we did!! Friendly people who work there, spacious yet down home feeling inside and outside seating (we opted for the patio as it was named after) that had a wood fire going and heat lamps so it was truly cozy! Our beef and bean smothered burrito "Christmas" style (both red and green chile) was outstanding. I'll be back to try their chile relleno and carne adovada. Our waitress also mentioned people come from all over for their steak nights every Friday, and their burger menu was impressive. Yum yum!

I am a Best Western's rewards member and the staff recognized it immediately. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The parking is easy and plentiful. The room was clean comfortable, and spacious and had a continental breakfast in the morning it has the usual good stuff of a best western where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fruit things like that I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful and available. They also suggested a couple of nearby restaurants for both breakfast and supper. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping too. It's an old school way of thinking and I hope you will consider adopting it. The room's all the space I needed and a Mini refrigerator, microwave but no coffee maker. What they have now in the breakfast area is a coffee maker that makes espresso... i did a double shot and added some hot water for dark roast americana. Everything was working just fine and very clean. As I said, I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that I could. I have stayed here for up to three days while traveling. This most recent was overnight It's a old mining town with lots of cultural assets so I so its worth exploring, If they ever upgrade things i would recommend adding some grab bars even if they didn't one bathroom at a time.\nBecause even average seniors would benefit from grab bars. I'm not talking , totally handicapped accessible , just grab bars.

It's true that the accommodations are older (the sinks are in the room with you, be prepared), but the entire place has a charm that I found really cozy and sweet. Our bed was comfortable although I can't speak for other rooms. There is a bookstore immediately next door owned by a lovely gentleman from Scotland who is very knowledgeable about the building and the city. The breakfast had enough selection for us picky eaters and passed our coffee snob test, and you can't beat the location. While our paths never crossed with the staff for long enough to have a substantial conversation, everyone we met while in Silver was truly wonderful. The parking is street parking but we never had any trouble finding a spot immediately in front of the hotel or at worst beside it on a side street. I did wake up once on our second night to some noise on the street, but that was my only issue the entire time.

Air conditioning barely worked -- it stayed tepid the whole stay despite adjusting the settings. The breakfast area was dirty and didn't feel well-maintained, and the toilet wouldn't flush properly. We had constant trouble with Wi-Fi, was slow when it worked, and it kept dropping out. Mg ac unit was loud and annoying, could barely hear the tv. I had hot water in the morning, but my daughter did not the night before. Shower seemed especially gross. Pictures attached. I made the mistake of booking this hotel while driving. Lesson learned. In 19 years of business travel, staying in hundreds of hotels across the western United States and Canada, this was the grossest hotel room I have ever walked into. Looking through recent Google reviews after checking out, I realized I should have read those first. Some guests report clean rooms, while others describe cleanliness issues similar to what I found. My experience unfortunately matched the negative reviews, not the positive ones. Let's start the tour... * The bathroom tile looked cleaner than the rest of the room, but that's where the compliments end. * The carpet around the baseboards has reached the point where I think it qualifies as a protected ecosystem. I don't believe a vacuum has visited those edges in years. * The headboard had layers of dust along the top and mysterious stains that I had no interest in identifying. * The walls had random splatters and marks that looked like they had been collecting souvenirs from previous guests. * The chairs looked like they skipped every cleaning schedule since the motel was built. * The bed skirt had what appeared to be old bug blood splattered across it. Not exactly the relaxing welcome you hope for after a long day on the road. Then came the grand finale. The bed had a two-inch memory foam topper under the sheets. While checking the bed, I found poop underneath the sheets on top of the mattress topper. Game over. At that point I wasn't wondering if I was staying. I was wondering what else I hadn't found yet. I checked out about 30 minutes after checking in. The front desk employee was polite and offered another room, but she also told me the room I was in had already been cleaned. If this was their definition of clean, there wasn't a chance I was rolling the dice on Room Number Two. No refund was offered because management wasn't available to authorize one. I wouldn't walk around this room barefoot. I wouldn't let my suitcase touch the carpet. I certainly wasn't sleeping in that bed. The bright spot? The vintage orange rotary phone was the cleanest-looking thing in the room. I almost wanted to call housekeeping from 1973 and ask if they were planning on coming back. I honestly would not wish this room on my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor. Read the recent reviews before booking. I wish I had.
