It's been a couple years since I reviewed it or been there so I thought I would update my rewiew. Its conveniently located off of highway NM180 east in Silver City. I am a Best Western's rewards member and the staff recognized it immediately. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The parking is easy and plentiful. The room was clean comfortable, and spacious and had a continental breakfast in the morning it has the usual good stuff of a best western where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fruit things like that I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful and available. They also suggested a couple of nearby restaurants for both breakfast and supper. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping too. It's an old school way of thinking and I hope you will consider adopting it. The room's all the space I needed and a Mini refrigerator, microwave but no coffee maker. What they have now in the breakfast area is a coffee maker that makes espresso... i did a double shot and added some hot water for dark roast americana. Everything was working just fine and very clean. As I said, I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that I could. I have stayed here for up to three days while traveling. This most recent was overnight It's a old mining town with lots of cultural assets so I so its worth exploring, If they ever upgrade things i would recommend adding some grab bars even if they didn't one bathroom at a time.\nBecause even average seniors would benefit from grab bars. Best Western, You should be embarrassed to have your name on this place. Breakfast is awful. Based on a typical Best Western chain's breakfast, this is substandard. Hash browns were way undercooked (aka, hash whites). No drinking water. No fruit (apple, banana, orange). Coffee is terrible. Morning check in person was a surly woman who couldn't be bothered. Used the room's safe (NO sign there was a charge). When I checked my bill, I was charged $2.50. ONLY good thing about this place is JAMES. He checked us in the night before. I stayed here because there was a Dennys in the parking lot which was nice as I was on a motorcycle, and the price was right. Unfortunately they didn't tell me they were doing a renovation outside when I made the reservation so I woke up each morning to the lovely sounds of construction. The bed wasn't very comfortable either, so I would find somewhere else to stay the next time I swing through town. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Nice staff. I gave kudos to Jasmine at the front desk who did not tell me my room number in front of several construction workers that were hanging around after checking in. Rather, she just wrote the room number down on my key envelope. Later I went and thanked her and I even told the assistant manager how much I appreciated that. Decent gym with AC. Typical breakfast routine but nice little coffee machine for variety. I love the balcony on the second floor. Sometimes I'm pooped in the evening and don't really want to just be holed in my room. I actually took my phone and sparkling water out there and just enjoy the sunset and the nice cool air. What is funny is most the time people complain that there wasn't enough hot water. This shower in my room was way too hot and hard to adjust down cooler. But overall the room was clean and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place if you're going through. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I've heard others having really bad experiences with the manager at this hotel and she definitely is the worst I've ever seen. I rented a room over the holidays for family coming in from out of state. The girl that checked us in was great, the room was nice and it was a pleasant evening. The next morning I went to extend the room for another night for my parents and the manager noticed I have a local address and refused to extend the room! She said "I don't care that you have rented rooms from us over 10 times now, we don't rent to locals. You need to get your ass out of here"!!!! I have NEVER been treated that way at that hotel or any other. I have never seen a "manager" act like that before, it was appalling! The woman acts like a foul-mouthed crazy person that should be locked in a mental institution. I don't think I would believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. I'm not one to write reviews but STAY AWAY from that place, that lady is totally unprofessional and awful! I filed a complaint with their corporate office and got comped some free nights, but I will NEVER go there again or recommend it to anyone. Shame on SureStay Best Western for employing such low caliber of a person to represent their business. In all of my travels throughout the world, this was by far the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Plus, to my dismay, it was the introduction to Silver City for my family that traveled a very long way to visit. What an embarrassment. read more

I made the wrong reservation date. Front desk lady fixed it for me when I got there. Clean room, nice pool and Jacuzzi. Everyone on the staff was nice. I would stay there next time in the area. Kudos to management and staff for the great stay back in late December. read more

Quality Inn in Silver City NM seems to be an older property in sad shape. Got a clean, comfortable room with a king bed. A/C didn't work well and the controls have been worn away. Had to leave a window open to get some cool air flow. The fiberglass shower-tub had places where the finish was worn away. Breakfast was similar to most other places. If not for the room being clean and a comfortable bed I'd have given it a lower rating. Place needs some TLC. read more

An older facility that has been recently remodeled. Was clean and comfortable and the staff was great to work with.

Decent location off the main drag in SC. The bed was amazingly comfy as were the pillows...so for the sleep comfort level 5-stars, but that was about all my room had going for it. I was on the first floor in a handicap-accessible room by the housekeeping and laundry facilities, so lots of noise early in the morning from that. On top of that, the walls and floors are super thin. I could hear every step the people in the room above me took and the TV in the room next to mine to the point I could tell they were watching Law & Order. Needless to say, I was only able to get to sleep after I put in my earplugs. There were also these little black bugs everywhere, especially in the bathroom. After walking to the bathroom barefoot and stepping on a couple on the carpet, I had to put on my flipflops everytime I got out of bed. A $90/night hotel this was definitely not! I have a feeling they get away w/charging that much because there aren't many other choices nearby. I was disappointed w/my experience here, especially since the bed really was super-comfy, which seems to be a rarity in hotels these days, but for the price and the room I got, I cannot recommend! I will say, however, that the guy who checked me in was very nice and accommodating. For some reason my res was showing cancelled (I have a feeling a glitch w/the Choice App because it was the 2nd time it has happened to me) and he was able to reinstate it and give me the one remaining room they had left for the night. Maybe that's why my room was so awful, but honestly, it's no excuse. read more

You get pretty much what you expect from an Econo Lodge at this place. The rooms are clean and not run down. Standard issue old-time bedspreads. Only shampoo, no conditioner. Each room has a microwave and a small fridge. You get breakfast (cereal, bagels, muffins and make-it-yourself waffles). Lots of channels on cable. One tip - ask for a room on the non-street side of the hotel, as the street noise is surprisingly high in the middle of the night for a sleepy little town like Silver City. read more

The front desk woman was on phone when we arrived, didn't look up or acknowledge me in any way. After 5 minutes, another woman working there who had been strolling around drinking a high calorie drink and eating candy, neither of which she needed, decided to walk (in slow motion) to the back to get someone to help us. Finally, there was friendliness! The gentleman was kind, apologized for the wait, was engaging. The room was very clean, newly remodeled, very quiet even on the street side (we were 3 floors up though). Good breakfast, eggs, biscuits n gravy, all the goodies! Besides the first 2 women at the desk, my only complaint would be no clean places to walk dogs. This is a pet friendly hotel so we expected a place to walk them...oh, and the pool was cloudy enough that you couldn't see the bottom of it in 5 feet of water. 3 & 1/2 stars. My family & I stayed here for a week while we were dealing with a family emergency. We booked last minute for 2 people with a big dog & they were able to take us no problem. The rooms are very nice - clean, big & really comfy beds with lots of pillows. All rooms include a mini-fridge & microwave which was great too. There was a lot of extra furniture in the room too: a big comfy chair, a desk & a desk chair in the room too. Lots of places to put belongings! The continental hot breakfast was decent. I wish they had more healthy options such as fresh fruit & yogurt, but it was still good & had lots of other options (sausage or bacon, biscuits & gravy, waffles, cereals, etc.) One thing that was annoying was that our keys were always deactivating & we had to go to the front desk to get them fixed every time. The staff were always nice & apologetic about it, but still annoying regardless! In addition, the wireless internet was inconsistent. They have several networks & all were easy to connect to, but sometimes they didn't work or would disconnect randomly. Annoying to deal with while we were trying to get stuff done. For Silver City & the very limited amount of choice you have here, this place is great! You & your family will be extremely comfortable & will enjoy the very friendly & small town service. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I stayed there on July 30 and checked out on the 31st. I had left an expensive pair of sandals behind by accident and went back to retrieve them several hours later. According to Tabitha at the front desk, even though it was before noon and check out isn't until 11, my room had already been cleaned and rebooked. I don't think anybody works that fast. I believe the girl who cleaned the room must have stolen my sandals. I was told that the assistant manager would call me but here we are August 4, no call and no shoes. I asked to speak to Genie, the manager, but haven't heard from her either. YOU HAVE A THIEF WORKING FOR YOU!!! All I want is my sandals back, but instead, you're going to force me to give you a bad review. I will also be contacting the BBB, so enjoy that. read more

We have stayed at this Econolodge two years in a row now. We are impressed with the service and cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel in general. The beds are comfortable and fresh cookies and milk in the evening is a nice plus. The hot breakfast is great as well. read more

A very clean Hotel with a very friendly staff including front desk room service and food service. The breakfast is your standard fare at all the hotels with the bacon and sausage rotated day by day. Long as you got the oatmeal and the OJ I'm set. The internet sucks it's just too damn slow. I got better results using my phone as a hotspot. Too bad. Everything else was excellent. read more

Comfortable beds make all the difference in the world, and this place has got them! That's a big plus! However, the second floor is a smoking floor (we don't smoke). The hotel has a big open stairway that goes from the lobby to the third floor. You have to walk past the stairway when you get out of the elevator. The dirty nasty smoking floor smell goes up to the third floor and when you walk past the stairway it's totally gross! Breakfast is pretty standard . . . five flavors of waffles is nice for those who like to eat them. Their choice of yogurts is ok, not great. There were no individual cartons of milk -- just a big pitcher in the fridge to use. . . no flavored creamers for the coffee, but the coffee was Farmer Bros, which is wonderful. The indoor pool and spa were nice; the signs say 4 max in the spa and 7 max in the pool. Our last night there were 13 kids in the pool when the employee came through to tell us they would be closing in 30 minutes -- he said nothing about so many people in the pool, so I guess they don't take their signs seriously. . . The spa was nice and toasty but the jets were ineffective. They have a nice outdoor courtyard and a small deck off the second floor for smokers who are staying in non-smoking rooms (1st and 3rd floors). The internet was very iffy -- sometimes not bad, other times too slow to use. Staff was all very pleasant and responsive. We'll probably stay here our next visit just because once you find a comfortable bed it's hard to chance staying somewhere else!!! read more

We spent three nights here on a trip through the Southwest. We were very comfortable here and pleasantly surprised given the inexpensive price. The rooms were very clean and quiet, the breakfast was really good for a continental breakfast, the staff was friendly, and they allowed pets. I was surprised by how nice the rooms are. There are not many options for hotels in the area but the room was basically brand new. Bed was comfortable breakfast was good, I had a blueberry waffle. The only reason I gave them four stars is the hallways need to be updated and there really isn't anywhere for the dogs on the grounds. We didn't use the pool. The manager Rena Kershaw informed me that there was no way they would allow me to cancel my reservation, even though I called 3 days before my scheduled arrival. So, $295.56 was deducted from my credit account without me ever seeing the place. She is the most unreasonable and greedy hotel manager I have ever encountered in the 44 countries I have visited. It doesn't matter what the quality of the oatmeal or the bathroom or the pillows when you treated like that. Stay far away. The Holiday Inn Express is far better in customer care. read more

Worst hotel experience. Jeremey, who works at the front desk, is a belligerent jerk. The AC unit was not working in the first room my husband and I were in. We reported this and had to take all our luggage to another room. The next morning, we noticed a bad odor in the new room and reported that to Jeremy at the front desk. He said our room would smell better when we got back so we left for a few hours. When we returned, the room still stunk! We spent the night in a stinking room. We are back home and have not been able to get hold of the manager. Jeremy is obviously afraid of getting in trouble. He yelled at me and told me to stop calling! ( I called twice.) I'm still waiting for manager to call me back. read more

I've written several hotel reviews, but never have they been this negative. This would have been a very nice place to stay, had I not had my camera stolen. The theft really ruined our trip. It was packed when we left home, and we only stopped to have lunch, between home and this hotel. Truck was locked and in our sight the entire time. Our luggage was left, at the General Manager's suggestion, behind the front desk, as our room wasn't ready yet. She assured us that she would watch it, and that it was under a security camera. We left to do a little shopping. When we returned, our room was ready and we took all of our luggage, on the cart, up to our room. The next evening, when I went into my suitcase to get out my camera case, it was missing. I called the front desk and shortly the General Manager called me back. She insisted that the only people who had been into our room were us and the housekeeper (who has been with them 8 years and would never take anything). I told her that the camera had to have been taken either from the cart behind the front desk or from our room. She basically told me that it wasn't stolen in her hotel. The next night, I realized that a jar of my cosmetics was missing. This also, according to the General Manager, could never have happened at her hotel. We declined housekeeping the next day, since I was pretty paranoid by then. Nothing disappeared that next day. The GM said that she would talk to the owner and get back to me, which she never did. I contacted the corporate office of Choice Hotels International, and was told, via a form letter, that they can't do anything since the hotels are individually owned and operated. So, if you stay at this hotel, make sure that all of your valuables are locked in your vehicle. If anything of yours is stolen, you certainly won't be believed, or receive any satisfaction at all from the hotel itself. But, staying at this hotel, is your choice. You couldn't pay me enough to stay there again! read more
