Boo. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I'm never going back to your goddamn business again. I use to go here because it was convenient (isn't that how we usually pick our men, uh - our cleaners?). Then one day, I came to pick up my beloved pink cashmere sweater. Because I wanted to wear it. The owner said that it was "misplaced"...probably at the factory, or someone had mistakenly picked it up. So for the next few weeks, I checked back periodically, until it was clear that someone in Oakland was walking around wearing my pink cashmere sweater. Someone other than I. Their "policy" restricted me to a $30 reinbursement. Which is $170 less than I bought it for. You do the math. You would think I would have learned, right? Ah...ever the glutton for punishment, I started using them again. Until I turned over two pairs of pants for hemming. They only needed slight modification and they were brand new, tags still attached. When I came back to pick them up, they had been altered a good 4" MORE than I had specified - and since the seamstress had cut-off the remaining material, there was no way to let the pants down to an even quasi-normal length. THEY HAD TURNED MY BRAND NEW SLACKS INTO PEDAL PUSHERS. The owner then proceeded to advise, with a straight face, that I just wear flats with them (?!). GREAT SUGGESTION Mr. Cleaners, that solves my problem straight away! I told him to eat it and that I wasn't going to pay and quite literally, stomped out of there with my too-short pants in tow. And there they sit in my closet, tags attached ever still, a perpetually painful reminder of my poor choice of dry-cleaners. I sincerely appreciate Ridgemont Cleaners. I've used them a few times now and figured it was time for me to drop a review. First off, he won't bullshit you. I came in a while ago with a coat I knew I had ruined (I got a stain on it, tried to "clean it" myself, further stained it, etc.) and he explained how the chemicals and fabric affect each other. He didn't charge me to try to assess what had happened, gave me advice, and I was on my way. I've also had several pairs of pants (about 8 now?) tailored through this location. I know it's more expensive to have it shipped out to a tailor but man does their tailor know what they're doing. Also, he again gave me advice and explained what was or wasn't feasible for tapering / hemming. It's this kind of service that goes beyond just taking money and handing over a product that I come back for. Again, he's doing his best to give you the best service possible. I was hesitant to go to Ridgemont Cleaners based on the other reviews, but thought I'd see for myself. We moved to the Oakland Hills from Alameda and I was used to going to a dry cleaner there. But I had a suit tailored there and they made the pants too short (we're talking high waters). Anyway, I really needed the pants for the suit back in a hurry, and the Alameda folks wouldn't do it in a hurry. So I remembered Ridgemont cleaners up the hill from our house. So I took them there and they did a fast turnaround on my trousers. They hemmed them just right with the right amount of break to them. Since then, I've brought in 3 pairs of pants and each time, they have altered them to my expectations and with a pretty good turnaround of a couple of days. Oh, and also, these guys are so much more cheaper than my previous cleaners for the two services I use a lot, dry cleaning and alterations. I highly recommend them. read more

I really regret using this dry cleaning service. First, there is no quality control. A pair of my paints with a drawstring cane back with the string having come out of the loop. They didn't bother to try to put it back in. Then, a pair of my black pants came back with a ton of lint balls, a give away that they were WASHED and not dry cleaned. Help. I dropped my dress off to get tailored for my sisters wedding. I work all day and this place was supposed to be open until 7pm but when I got there at 6 there was a sign that said they're closing at 5 now and opening at 10 instead of 7am-7pm. Never had any problems here. Whenever i brought in alterations, everything was fine within a 3 day turnaround. Reasonably priced.

Just moved here from Hayward and found this place close to my house. It was convenient and the people are friendly, it's just that they are expensive and most of my slacks came back (clean but) with creases pressed into them around the crotch and butt areas. Very unflattering. Make sure you inspect your clothes before you leave this place. As for me, I'm going to try another. read more

I've been doing my dry cleaning here for years. The quality of service and convenience are unparalleled. My dry cleaning is always done on time and done right. I've altered suit pants here which was accomplished flawlessly, and have also repaired fine Italian shoes here as well. The alterations and repairs look seamless and have withstood the test of time. The owner is super friendly as well, and certainly knows his sports. I wouldn't take my clothes and shoes anywhere else. read more

After the shoe incident previously mentioned. I brought 4 shirts and a pair of jeans in to be laundered. A friend of mine had previously brought my shirts in to be laundered they came back clean and properly laundered. So, at a later date I took my shirts and a pair of jeans in for the same service. Which was to be laundered properly. Well, I have never had to examine my clothes once I pick them up from a cleaners. I just assumed the clothes are laundered properly. Well not the case here the shirts came back filthy! They looked as though they were just pressed and never washed! So I returned the shirts showed the guy ( who says his name is Fred), who works there, the filth and I asked him to have the shirts properly cleaned. He had the worse and most unprofessional demeanor. He actually became quite indignant and loud he exclaimed "DO YOU WORK IN THE FIELD OR...DO YOU WORK IN THE HOUSE I MEAN WHERE DO YOU WORK" he says doesn't know how the shirts could be dirty (really).. I am a Black American female Are you a "field or house n..." was the implication! I also had to return the jeans which looked like there was an excessive amount of starch on them or the white spots may have been cause by the cleaning solution the cleaners uses. So it looks like the jeans are ruined. I showed him the cleaning tags which were still attached to the jeans. He then makes the ridiculous statement "You can get those tags anywhere. How does he know that I had the jeans cleaned there?" Really? I asked him to clean the jeans or replace them. In addition, I said to him that his statement was racist, and that he had no business saying anything like that to me . Once again he made the same racist statement and said he wanted to know if I "WORKED IN THE FIELD." Once again, I told him that his choice of words were racist and he had no business asking me anything like that. He told me I was "CRAZY" and continued to try to intimidate me by raising his voice. I am a senior citizen and this guy was insulting me as well as trying to bully me. Unbelievable! all because I wanted him to give me the service I had paid for. Unfortunately, if this guy sees one African American as a field or house n...! I have to assume he sees all African Americans the same. This cleaners is located in a community where a large there is a large number of African American residing. So I just say beware of who you are spending your dollars with. Trust me I am a 65 year old woman I am an educator and professional business owner and in all my years I have never been treated so poorly while doing business with any business establishment. read more
