I took my bike to get repaired. It cost $100. The owner insulted me by saying my $500 bike wasn't worth repairing. He wanted me to buy a new bike from him. Not with that condescending attitude! You don't make rude comments to a potential repeat new customer and think they're going to return for more snide comments. Establishments with a poor attitude like this indicates a lack of bike repair competition in the area. I'd NEVER come back here. I still have my bike he told me to get rid of. Walked into Ridge Cyclery for the first time excited about what I might find and optimistic that the staff would be knowledgeable and open to questions... Excitement and optimism very quickly faded to "What?" and disappointment. Staff uninterested and mute. Mumbling softly with blank stares towards a wall of hanging disastrously organized accessories and/or a cell phone must have replaced face to face interaction and legitimate time to understand what the customer is asking for/about. I finally found a bike shop that does does not fix a spoke. Not my first experience here (all bad) but this confirms never again. They excel in not solving my bike repairs. Hate to say it but the Trek store is only a few miles away so don't waste the gas to try this shop. read more

I've been coming here recently now that I own a bike worth getting a tune-up on. The staff may come off as rude and uncaring but each time I go They've all been helpful and to-the-point which I really like. They even fixed my bike up within a few minutes of walking in and didn't charge me for it. read more

long story short, we disassembled a bike for the cross country move, took all the parts to this bike shop to have it assembled again, but they don't know how to put it together. I'm sure they have fine bikes to sell you, but their service center is a joke. read more

I had a great experience with the staff and the outcome of the work they did for my bicycle. I'm not an enthusiast, so I can't speak of the selection or prices. My mission was to put a trailer for my son and things went splendidly. The staff is very knowledgeable, they noticed a safety flaw and recommended I replace a part so that it would ensure that the trailer didn't detach from my bike. Now if I had done the job at home most likely I wouldn't have noticed that it needed to be done and I would've thought that's how it's supposed to be. But I wasn't taking chances when it came to the safety of my child and myself. So labor and parts were cheap and I even walked out with some maintenance oil and spent around $30 bucks. A small price to pay for peace of mind. Oh and did I mention they did all the heavy lifting for me and put my bike up on the rack :D thank you gentlemen! read more

Ok, so my fat ass, decided to buy a bike from off of FB sales. Payed only $75 for a Pro Flex Arcadia 21 speed bike. At 55 years old, it's bad enough when your own doctor charges you a $35 (co-pay), just to call you "Fat" in his tiny freak'n office!!! Never the less (I can take a hint), it was time to diet and exercise. Okay, so I know have the old bike and wanted to find a place near by for me to access for my "bikey" needs. I Googled and up came "Ridge Cyclery" only 1 mile away. Stopped in the store and spoke with Jeff and Piolo, they were both just awesome!! Took pics of what I wanted for later purchases (that $75 hit my pockets someth'n deeeeep). The prices were reasonable and the sales staff were excellent!! read more

If you walk into this shop, you will likely be ignored for a really uncomfortable amount of time. Then, IF you can get someone to help you - they act like they have more important things to do. ie. looking at the clock, their phone, out the window, --- I purchased a Raleigh bike from them because I liked it a lot. However, bad customer service kicks in right away. They are not as concerned about fitting a bike for you as they are selling the ones they have. They never open the heavy door for you so you don't bang up your bike. They won't do your 30 day adjustment if you come in on a Saturday. Raleigh cheaped out on cable slack, so upgrading the handlebars is cost prohibitive. They will not notify you when your bike is ready. YOU and your bike are not important to Ridge Cyclery. read more

I purchase 3 bikes at Ridge Cyclery in Highland. I live in Michigan City, but I had heard they were knowledgeable and I figured it would be worth the trip. Good bike stores don't grow on trees and the stuff I see at Walmart is garbage in my opinion. The three bikes I purchased, for me and two children, proved to be money well spent and it was worth the $3.00 in gas. I guess you could call Ridge Cyclery a hidden gem in Northwest Indiana. You don't see too many full service shops anymore. Don't waste your money on junk department store bikes. Get the bike that fits you and they will answer a lot of questions for you. The most rude condescending idiots I have ever seen. I bought a bike thinking a local dealer would be great, my mistake. They set the bike up completely wrong, then were unable to fix the shifting. It take 3 days per adjustment and after there inability to repair the bike it was decided I don't know how to shift. Try there competition you will be much happier. read more
