I began to browse the bikes and 1 walks up about 2 minutes in and asks what can he help me with. I tell him I'm looking for road bikes 500 or less. He points me to 1700 & 2400 dollar bikes immediately. I restate my price range where he then points me to 800 dollar bikes. All said and done, Expensive bikes at a high end bike shop is understandable, my issue is I asked him if anyone in store is a cyclist of any sorts and could give me pointers on bikes that are most suitable for me and his answer was inexplicably ridiculous. "No one here rides, it's just a paycheck".... Well I'll be....... Ownership consider revising your team. I'd give zero stars if I could. I was in there awhile back and the old guy who was there was super cool but this one guy was a jackass and looked like he was 30ish which is no problem but he went from being tolerable to being sinister. I could not wait to buy my MTB tires and get the heck out of there. So, now, that I am a doctor at NW-Palos Hospital down the street. I will never recommend this bike store! So, one bad egg can spoil the whole batch! No, worries to me I"'ll just tell people the truth and if I hear co-workers talking about bicycles I warn them not to come here! I went in on a Sunday just to check the place out. I honestly have no idea about bicycles, I'm into classic cars as a hobby. But I recently found my old 1986 Schwinn Predator Aerostar in my moms garage. I have two young boys now & want this next generation to appreciate the 1980's-Early '90's BMX era. It's up to us ya know? Well I needed a white seat (which I later found out is called a Viscount Aero) and white bmx handle grips. This young guy I believe his name was Chris.. his specialty is old school bmx bikes, helped me out. Knew exactly what I was talking about. I was in tears thinking my daughter's bike was ruined. (Because Walmart sent it that way) Who ever pre built the bike put the screw in the handlebars so tight until they stripped it! I took it to Richard's. They saw the problem and fixed it! T there were some other issues with it as well, Richard was honest and courteous about everything. I just moved into the area. I was excited to get my bike and hit the trails in this area. But my tire was acting up. So I was happy to see a shop relatively close. I didn't expect the shop to be as cool as it is. Great selection of bikes and definitely a place I would of purchased a bike from. My plan was to get a quick fix and feel out the shop. The attendant that helped me out had such a bad and entitled attitude. He had advised me on replacing my tire and a few things that was going on with the rim. I was only prepared to replace a tube that day. After letting him know this, his attitude went from helpful to resentful. It was actually very disgusting. Even his coworkers seem to quit down when his energy shifted. I'm sure everyone else in their is cool. But who ever dude is, has shitty people skills and should not be front facing with customers. Also the tube didn't even last the ride home. I could of came back but his attitude sucked so much I went to another spot were the service was super friendly. They filed the spot on the rim that made the hole and replaced the tube. It was an easy fix. Richards shop charged me $30 with a shitty attitude. The other shop charged me $20 very good vibes. I won't name the other shop. But Richard's shop, that dude is not cool. Even though your shop has a cool selection. He needs to be in the shed (no lights and no AC lol) in the back fixing bikes away from people. read more

My husband was in there 3 times, twice was never acknowledged while in the store. Lost a sale.

I took my bike there for chain changing, they dropped some sort of oil on my bike handle that melted the red handle wrapper. I didn't knew it then and put it right on my back trunk, the melted handle left red trails all over my soft roof inside, tainted bike seat, clothes and hands. I went back and told them what happened, all they did was gave me a number of car cleaning place to call. For me it was a bit irresponsible, because my roof was totally ruined. But regarding the service, they did everything very fast, I am impressed. Might need to be more careful with customer's properties and take more responsibility. read more

A friend recommended this shop to me so I was looking forward to trying it out. I got a tune up and noticed the paint had chipped off on my bike after I got home. It looks like it must have bumped into something and no one had let me know anything had been damaged. Not a great experience. The place is presentable and clean. Stock is minimal. Parking is decent. Customer service is lacking. When walked in , there were three employees in the work area. Not one greeted or acknowledged my presence. I proceeded towards the register area stood there, mind you well within eye sight. And again " crickets" I was the only potential customer in the shop at the time. So, if your looking for customer service, not sure this is the place. I am in the market for a new bike. Excellent friendly service. I recently got into mountain biking and bought a bike. I decided to upgrade my drivetrain. Any tools they didn't have to sell they let me borrow to put my bike together. They spent time digging though their spare parts bins just to find the proper brake line barb for me... and just gave it to me. Obviously out for more than just my money. They carry excellent bike brands. Mike let me test ride two bikes to determine which one I felt most comfortable with, as I transitioned from a Specialized road bike and ended up buying the Unisex FX2 hybrid Trek, in a great matte grey color. They took my accessories off of my Specialized Ruby Sport and put them on my new Trek with no charge. I like the informative repair crew. I only wish they had explained to me the Trek tachometer I purchased for my new Trek bike before I left, as they didn't give me the box. I'm glad I found a new bike shop for my biking needs. They have a nice lounge area to wait, while you're getting your bike serviced. Well staffed too, so the wait wasn't long. read more

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! Mike helped me find a perfect bike for me. He was patient with me while shopping, took time to explain the differences in the bikes we were looking at. I was looking for something that could handle longer distances, was durable and would last. After test driving a few, I found a perfect bike and couldn't be happier. I was actually able to take the one I tried on the floor. He reassured me that they cycle the models on the floor and this bike was new. He put the kickstand and water bottle attachment on for me, showed me how to fill the tires with air and helped me load it in the car. I can not thank Mike enough for ALL the help. I brought my Cheap Walmart trike in to get assembled. (After spending almost a day of me trying to) Also to find the problem of the pedal spinning but not making the bike move. (Paid $125 delivered) I got it back (delivered) and when I took it for a spin, I discovered not only they didn't fix the problem I was having, but now the chain derailed when I dropped it in 7th, so I called them back, they had the delivery person make a U-Turn and pick the bike up. I was pissed, but didn't want to show it, (you attract more flies with honey than vinegar) So they look into it and found the derailer (on a BRAND NEW BIKE) had a crack in it and a locking pin was missing. So they replaced the derailer and pin and took it for a test ride, (Something I suggest they do whenever a customer brings in a bike for repair) But I gave the a 5 star review because the replace the part and returned it to me free of charge. I will definitely return if I need another bike. A little pricey for me, but you get what you pay for. So who knows, I might come back next spring to get a better bike. read more

These guys are great. They won't pressure you to buy something-they just want to see you get on a bike that's a great fit for your style of riding. (Mountain, road, trail,etc.) I went in with a friend who knows a lot more about bikes than I do and this is the only place he ever goes and I wasn't sure why. But I went in with him to get a new bike and Mike worked with me to try to find a good fit. Even though they were closing, there was no rushing me out of there of pressuring me to buy anything. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. My boyfriend and I have been discussing buying bikes but we both drive small cars and would need a bike rake for the back of one of our cars. So we stopped and looked around a bit. We decided to ask if they had the car bike racks at the counter. A couple was already being helped at the counter so we stood and waited. And then waited some more. And then continued to wait. There were three people working behind the counter. One person helping the couple in front of us, one person working on a bike, and another person walking back and forth looking for things to do. I love to support small businesses but I will find a different bike store to purchase from. After standing for 15 minutes waiting to ask if they sold the car bike racks we would need, we left. We were even just curious about a price range for buying one. In general, I would not return here since I felt like we were ignored for too long when all we had was a basic question. Maybe we don't like look bike owners or regular customers, but that's no reason to ignore someone waiting for help at a business. We'll just have to go somewhere else when we decide to purchase bikes. read more

Richard's bikes is awesome. I bring my bikes from the North side to have these guys take care of repairs. Recently my lower bracket was making a click with each rotation of the pedals. After doing all the obvious things I found online I brought it in for the experts. When I got there I saw the sign posted that repairs were running a week to ten days. Everyone is riding these days so that would have been fine with me. When I described the problem a fine young man said it's probably loose and threw it on the bike stand. He fixed it in less than fifteen minutes at a reasonable price. Take your bike to Richard's, thank me later. read more
