Need a roofer? In early January, (a horrible time to be contemplating replacing a roof) I contacted…read more4 local Boise roofing companies. Three of them responded quickly and provided in-depth project bids. I selected Chavez Roofing and Construction LLC and I'm glad I did. My house is a tall skinny with a steeply pitched roof. This project impacted not only me, but the neighbors on either side of me. Caleb and his crew had to fight with multiple demons of morning frost on the steep roof, and early sunset bringing the day to a close. The project took a bit longer than anticipated, however, each night before they left, they cleaned up the mess that inevitably lands between the houses. Caleb and crew were all polite and respectful of my neighbors and our properties. Caleb is a delight to work with. He communicates well and frequently, knows what he's talking about, and oozes sincerity and pride in his product. Oh, the 4th company? Their bid finally arrived the day Chavez Roofers were packing up for good. Their bid was also considerably higher than any of the other bids I received. Sometimes it's the young guys that are hungriest and most driven.

He wasn't "salesy" and didn't make me sit through an hour presentation. 2. His price was less than 50% of the highest bidder and $5k less than the lowest. Sometimes I'm hesitant when something is "too good to be true" but Caleb seemed very genuine and meticulous. Best decision I've made in a while. Him and his team were punctual, considerate of the mess and noise and did a phenomenal job. Even walked around with magnets to make sure my kids or dogs didn't step on a stray nail. He referred his uncle to me for house painting and he also was spectacular. At the end of the day they are good, kind, detail oriented people who have gained a massive fan. One knock on them that can't be left unsaid...he's a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Unfortunate, but nobody's perfect lol.

The fact that the company has been operating in the Treasure Valley for years in both residential and commercial markets and is part of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce made choosing a trusted company a no-brainer. When I expressed concern about other gutters, he took a look and said it wasn't as bad and thus not urgent, but he offered to provide an estimate of optional work, so I could decide, which I appreciated. It was not a hard sell. The estimate was provided via email in PDF format the next day, which I liked as it was written out very clearly and professionally, so no confusion. I accepted, and they came out the next day. The crew seemed to do a good job and were professional and friendly, and they cleaned up before they left. In reality, I won't know for certain if the work fixed the problem until we get heavy rain for days (as that is the only time the leak showed up), or in the winter when the snow piles up into an ice dam and won't melt for weeks, but I have no cause for complaint at this point; they did what was promised and the new flashing is certainly better and seems installed correctly. Regarding the cost (only rating I gave them below an A): To be fair, the quoted price seemed reasonable, but once I saw how it was done, how much time it took (crew of two in 3.5 hours), and what materials were used (just flashing and nails; no new shingles), it seemed a little high when I think of it as $225 an hour, so I gave them a B. However, overall I would go with them again.

There was no down time except for a lunch break. By 4:00pm the work was wrapping up and clean up commenced. And they left my property cleaner than they found it. They were gone at 4:30 pm. At 6:00pm Andrew came by to inspect the day's work. I'm thoroughly pleased. And the drone photos were a bonus. My roof looks great! And mowing my yards the next day I only found one nail. Seriously! I gave Idaho Roofing Contractors a call to ask if they did roofing inspections before making my final payment to the company that did our roof. Explained what looked good and what could have been done differently but was still ok. After a half an hour he said he was going to get out his drone out to see places we couldn't from the ground and snap photos. We then reviewed all the photos and I got a thorough roofing education, much appreciated! I don't know if they normally spend so much time for a free inspection, but regardless, Chris spent an hour with me and the roof and it didn't cost me anything. No sales pitch or request for me to write a review. I wanted to write a review because I wish I had found them instead of the other company I used.
