My husband is returning from deployment this month, so i thought it would be a good idea to have his car serviced prior to his return since the car had just been sitting in the garage for months. I showed up to the station around 8:15 and noticed one mechanic named JD helping several other people, after waiting what seemed like to be forever for him to free up i decided there is no way im leaving my husbands car at a place that has such low service standards, but the tires looked dangerously low on air so i decided to ask the cashier in the store if she could get someone to help me. About thirty seconds later a young man in street clothes approached me with a warm smile and a good morning, introduced himself as Ash and proceeded to fill all my tires for me and check my oil. We chatted as he worked and he really made me feel better about my experience there!!! I decided to leave the car there and give them a try, everything worked out great. I used to go to a cheap mechanic that basically just did the minimum he installed my brakes, didn't inspect the breaks and just do enough to keep the car running. Rick on the other hand, showed me what a quality mechanic at a great price can do, Not only did he fix my master cylinder on my brakes but he also made sure all of my brakes worked properly on all four wheels and that the brakes were properly adjusted and cleaned.Just from watching him work,I knew that he is an expert mechanic, he's thorough and does quality work. Coming to see Rick for a Tune up on my Toyota even after their lot is always full of cars was a lot easier than what I thought it would be. Rick not only gave me a smoking deal on my 120k service, but even gave me a ride to my work nearby and let me know of any services my car was in need of. Rick and his technicians let me know what services I could wait for if I was on a budget cut considering that Christmas is just around the corner and what he recommended if I planned on staying with the car for the next few years. I had gone to Toyota Poway before stopping at Ricks shop and Toyota tried to rip my leg off to replace my rear brakes. Rick coincidentally recommended some of the services Toyota recommended and even gave me $60 bucks off my brakes. I'm extremely happy I found Rick's RB Auto Center. I got new brake pads and rotors put on my Corvette along with DOT4 brake fluid. I couldn't be happier with the results. They are extremely friendly and joked with me. Their prices are amazing. At a dealership, I was quoted around FOUR TIMES the amount of Rick's prices. They also never tried to sell me something I didn't need. I will definitely recommend this place to all my car friends. They were able to get me very fast appointments as well. They even went an extra mile to help me out when I needed an alignment on my Corvette, which they didn't need to do. ***BEWARE OF THIS CROOK*** This company is a complete fraud. I have done business with this company only twice by selling him good auto parts, and both times the owner, Rick, has written me BAD checks. For the first bad check, I tried numerous times to try to fix it with Rick, but he never took me seriously; so I ended up suing him and winning the lawsuit and sent sheriffs to him until he was forced to pay. For the second bad check, I am also trying to fix it with him, but I guess he hasn't learned his lesson because he still isn't take this issue seriously. I am done wasting my time, I have already put in motion another lawsuit in order to get my money for the parts that he is trying to steal from me. (Engine light) I originally took my vw jetta twice to a shop in North Park that specialized in vw jetta. And could not figure out problem. Then i took my car to the vw dealer and was going to charge me a arm and leg to find out the problem + parts. I was recomended by a friend to go to Ricks Auto Center. I went to Ricks. Rick approached me professionally and courtesy He explain step by step what needed to be done. He ask me if i can leave car for a day or two- just in case. To make a long story short. I was impressed. I needed to get my car repaired to pass smog after failing the test. I knew 237,000 miles on the car would make it a challenge. The car hadn't been tuned up for 160,000 miles. The first step they took was to estimate and then perform just the basic repairs that they thought had a good chance of doing the job, based on the smog test results I provided them. The pre-test they did after those repairs indicated the car would pass so they took it to the test station for me (for no additional charge) and it did in fact pass. The net result was that I was smogged and my registration renewed for a whole lot less money than I would have expected. read more

I decided to give these guys a try after my neighbor highly recommemded them. So i took my acura and tundra for complete timing belt replacememt with water pump and seals.After checking with several local shops and dealers Ricks Rb Auto was not the least expensive but during our conversation i felt he was the most qualified for the job.My acura was finished that day Rick Jr surprised me with a detail on my car i was blown way.My tumdra ended up needing more work including tires.Both of my cars are running amazing i highly recommend this shop .Gas prices are up the roof but i believe Ricks rb auto is completely independent great job guys will be back for sure. read more

I took my F250 diesel truck to rick because it was making some weird noises everytime i turned my tires, took it to the FORD dealer and gave me an estimate of 2755.00 to fix all my suspension, they said all 4x4 trucks wear out the ball joints and it was best if i replaced All the bushings and ball joints on my truck. went to rick for a second opinion and after showing him the dealer estimate he said, "dont worry, im a hook you up" there's no way it can possibly need ALL of that, after replacing only ONE bad ball joint and one stabilizer bar linkage my bill was 325.00 and my truck runs and feels like new again.....super glad i took it to rick! read more

I was out for my morning run the other day, and i noticed a familiar face it was Rick my favorite go to guy. He recently took over the Rancho Bernardo shell so happy to see him closer to home, I just want to say this guy and his new crew are great!!!!!! I've been going to Rick's now for 2 years since I moved down from the bay area. I have several cars; Rick and his team have worked on all of them. One of my cars had a major overhaul (engine rebuild) and has been running like a champ since. Rick and his team have been terrific, professional and honest. I cant believe how poor the Service is in the shop. I had the displeasure of meeting the shop manager named Tony who was the rudest man i ever met. He made me wait while he talked on his cell, and later said the "F" word about 5 times just loud enough for my daughter and i to hear outside!! Needless to say he was a real jerk!! The only reason i still go to this station is because the owner Abbey is a real gentleman and is a great guy, ill still buy my propane and gas there but ill never use there shop as long as that asshole Tony is there!!!! read more

My car broke down in the middle of the freeway I was able to coast it to the side being super scared I didn't know who to call. Our coach had once mentioned that Ricks Rb Auto at the shell station was great. So they came down got the car started it was an alternator issue I was in and out in less than 2 hours for under 300 dollars. This place is very competitively priced, the average hourly rate in San Diego County is 104.00/hr. they charge $98 same as the big boys chain down the street... they're fair, Rick is honest, and they take care of it if there's any kind of problem with the work later, he stands behind his warranty. They have a excellent customer base with many repeat/long time customers, like myself... Visited Ricks team with my toyota after the dealership quoted me a bible of repairs. Ricks inspected my wheels and was able to tell me what was necessary, what could wait and what he felt was not important and most likely recommended due to mileage. Rick and his team did a great job diagnosing and fixing a problem with my car. There was a grinding noise emanating from my rear wheel. Rick's team quickly identified the problem and successfully replaced the rear axle, etc. He showed me the damaged axle and explained the cause of the problem.
