Rick replaced the engine in my 2010 Saab. He located a used engine and installed it in a couple days. After a day or so, I noticed that it was not running smoothly, so I took it back. Rick is a great mechanic. I had rotors and pads replaced with him and his price was equal with other quotes but he was able to have it done overnight as opposed to other places. He also did little things I didn't ask him for like inflate my tires to proper pressure, I appreciated that. I just called him because my tire balance was off and he advised me to wait as a snowstorm can cause that temporarily. A less honest mechanic would have probably taken my money to do nothing. I echo every single other five star review. My 1993 Volvo 240s wagon had a problem. For over a year, if I drove for more than 2 hours straight (sometimes less), my car wouldn't start for around 2 hours afterwards (sometimes more). No, it wasn't the battery (my previous, grinning misogynistic auto mechanic shrugged it off - even had the gall to ask if like, maybe I had made a mistake because it started fine for him). It wasn't the starter either. It was the wiring somewhere in between - harder to fix. My first mechanic couldn't even tackle the problem in terms of DIAGNOSTICS. Enter Rick. My boss recommended him to me, and I can't thank her enough. He fixed it immediately with some weird rig that I do not understand that is attached under my hood. LESS THAN 100 BUCKS and I've never had a problem since (knock on wood). That was 3 months ago and I've driven my car all the way to Canada and back and it's been 100% awesome! If you ever need auto repair, Rick seems incredibly honest and knowledgeable. Toyota dealership where I got my used Prius inspected before purchase told me to fix the drive belt and wheel alignment. Rick told me by phone that highly probably the belt is fine and will last many more years. He gave me a few tips to determine if I actually need a wheel alignment based on tire wear and, that if I wasn't sure, to stop by and he could check. I urgently needed a rear brake/rotor replacement on my old minivan, and wanted to avoid the shady brake shops in the area. Despite a parking lot full of jobs waiting (and a phone that would not stop ringing), Rick took my car in and did the job in about 75 minutes. I am not from the area and have been looking for a trustworthy place to get my car worked on. I needed new front brakes and rotors and I knew that before going in. Rick looked at my car, was completely honest about the wear they had on them, and priced them right in front of me. In the area, I have been unable to find anything more reasonably priced. He also went above and beyond by fixing a part on my car that I didn't even realize needed fixing, checking the fluids, and filling up my car tires without additional charge. And if that's not enough, he even did the repair extremely early in the morning so that I could to get to class on time. Solid 5 stars with 50 odd reviews - and I found out why! Rick did the diagnostics on my car and told me it was just a gas leak and probably a loose or bad gas cap. He then also filled coolant in my car which I had asked to buy. Then when I asked him how much - he said I didn't owe him anything. I was a little stunned - don't see that nowadays! If I could give Rick 10 stars, I would. I can't even recall how I got referred to him, but the first time we brought one of our cars to Rick, it was my wife's Subaru Outback. It had been rattling like crazy and was driving us nuts. Rick put it up on the lift and saw that part of the exhaust had come loose. He offered to clamp in for the time being but advised us that a large portion of the exhaust needed replacement. He said he could do it but that he thought the exhaust might still be under warranty. Rather than make me look this up, he went into his office and proceeded to get people from a local Subaru dealership on the line. They informed him that he was correct and that the repair would be made free of cost. So Rick sent me on my way after probably 1/2 an hour of his time and with the part clamped well in place without charging me a thing. I decided after that experience to only take our cars to Rick and we've never regretted it. He is incredibly diligent, knowledgeable, talented and honest. Yesterday I brought my Mazda 3 down for brakes and rotors and he did an amazing job on it, charging far less than any other mechanic would have. Then, as if that weren't enough, he called me on my cell this morning to make sure it was running well and that everything was to my satisfaction. Everyone here so far has it right. My friend's car entered a state of 'feeling unsafe to drive'. It had been in a shop for an insurance coverage repair unrelated to the current problem but they had mentioned that it looked like she had wheel bearing problems. Anyway, the reason I am writing this (instead of my friend) is that my friend knows nothing about cars, english is her second language, and $$ is tight for her-thus I led this battle as a supportive gesture! Previously, she naively brought it to the first place she could find (Firestone) when she had a wheel bearing problem in the past. She was charged over $1000. I searched Yelp and found Rick. And being the assertive, somewhat mechanically inclined person that I am, I kind of ushered her car into his care. Rick agreed to look at the car near his closing time and he worked on it past his usual hours. He was diligent about addressing the 'symptoms' described that did not seem to jive with the wheel bearing issue. In addition to the wh. bearing, an axle was replaced, wheels rotated and balanced, windshield wipers replaced, window RainX treated. He was EXTREMELY generous with his time. I mean EXTREMELY. I am completely confident that this man is honest, hardworking, talented, and has good communication skills. His charge (labor and parts) for the above listed fixes was less than half of what Firestone charged for JUST the wheel bearing replacement. read more

From the first second I called I could tell that I was not going to be getting the usual repair shop BS. Rick answered right away and instantly began diagnosing my problem (brake lines on a 2000 Dodge Caravan). I had it towed that same night to his shop and he texted me photos of the problem as well as a price quote by 7:15am the next day! He warned that it was going to be a big job, and that it was going to take some time. No issues there as he stayed in contact with me all throughout the repair process. He texted me several times with photos and updates...amazing! He completed the work, showed me pictures of the job he did, and even fixed my AC belt without charging me! All at a price that felt more than reasonable for the amount of work that was done. I still can't believe this guy runs this place all by himself. Hard to find an honest mechanic but Ricks is great. It's just a one man shop but he will always try to accommodate you. I had my exhaust system rebuilt by someone else less than two years ago when i brought my car into Ricks he called and told me that the wprk previously done HAD to be under warranty and took photos for me to bring back to the original shop.
