Absolute worst staff and Dr. It started off with being impossible to get ahold of the office over the phone, I thought because they were busy and had only one person handling the phone. Yet, when I came in for my appointment there were FOUR assistants sitting in the reception area. The phone kept ringing, but nobody bothered to pick up. When the nurse checked me in, they seemed very uninterested and unprofessional. When I finally saw the doctor, it was the wildest most unprofessional experience I've ever had in healthcare. I informed him I was almost 7 weeks pregnant, and was hoping to get my ultrasound scheduled for week 8 (which is the recommended time frame). He said absolutely not, I'll schedule you for 5 to 6 weeks from now. When I started to panic and told him I couldn't wait that long to find out if there's a heartbeat or if it's ectopic he mocked me. He said, oh you'll know if it's ectopic because you'll be in the ER. I informed him that I had a previous surgery and my then OB told me I was at a slightly higher risk of preterm birth. He responded, yes you'll likely miscarry. What?? My previous OB never said anything about increased risk of miscarriage, let alone a LIKELY miscarriage. Again mockingly, he said what do you think preterm birth means? That's miscarriage. I left the appointment convinced I was going to miscarry my baby. My husband ended up calling the ER to get confirmation of my increased risk of miscarriage and if there's anything we can look out for. The ER assured us repeatedly that I was NOT at an increased risk of miscarriage and that preterm birth and miscarriage are distinctly different medical terms. Ladies, please please please do NOT see this Dr. He is rude, unprofessional and most importantly incompetent. I'm looking into ways to report him to the medical board as this type of misinformation could be very dangerous. read more

Be careful ladies this doctor was on medical probation for a while and he was still working he had a lawsuit on going right now. He literally told me that my body was saying to have children that's why I'm in so much pain! He then proceeded to not look at me and kept looking at his watch and then was like okay that's all then left because he had to go into surgery I felt so rushed. read more

I wait for hour and half and I could hear him talking with each patient in different rooms. This should be a prívate visit and confidential..He is very unprofessional, he is a clown. WARNING!!!! BAIT AND SWITCH!! This was the strangest experience of my life with medical professionals. I called this office, the location on Google said Hillcrest Washington st. "San Diego Women's OB GYN" had 10 reviews, all good ones. Day of the appointment, I find out the appointment is in CHULA VISTA. Every one of the positive comments on Google were about Dr. Phan, and a different office? But the number on Google is to the Chula Vista office for Dr. Chet. Which seems like a wild bait and switch. I get to my appointment and they tell me it's a $600!!!! Dollar appointment fee and if my insurance covers anything, they will send me a check. WHAT?! That's MENTAL and not how insurance works. I have never heard of such a thing. I look up the OGBYN office reviews that I'm at, and Dr. Chet has ABYSMAL reviews!!! The waiting room was so crowded there was no where to sit, which is worrisome considering there is only one doctor at the practice. I didn't want to be rushed or be just a number for my appointment. I was so confused what just happened, how I ended up in Chula vista and why they are charging me $600 for a basic OBGYN visit, so I walked out. I've waited a few years to write this and there's a reason why. I first visited Dr Rick Chac 12/2021 when I was in immense pain and having irregular cycles. I had an IUD so this was not normal for me. I was diagnosed with Uterine Fibroids by Dr Chac. As the months progressed so did my pain and cycles. When asked what my options were I was presented with pain management, and the option to "have a baby and then a hysterectomy". Other than seeming rather inappropriate of a solution; I explained children were not an option for me as I had a miscarriage in 2020 which was very traumatic for myself and my partner. I had also planned to have weight loss surgery May 2021. I was told a Myomectomy was completely out of the question and not on the table. I continued to be treated with pain management medication however I was getting worse as the months grew on. I had weight loss surgery May 2021 and followed up with Dr Chac 4/2022 with a pelvic ultrasound. I was told due to rapid weight loss everything that was happening was "normal" and my pelvic ultrasound confirmed the fibroids were still present. I ended up requesting a second option with another OGNYN-Surgeon who agreed to do the Myomectomy but most surprisingly also presented me with so many options to dim the pain until my surgery. I was so surprised I wasn't presented with these options by Dr Chac I really trusted him with my care. If you thought my story ended here it was only beginning. I woke up from my Myomectomy diagnosed with stage 4 Endometriosis,& Adenomyosis. How was this missed? For years I expressed how much pain I was in. Did it ever Occur to Dr Chac the symptoms I presented with could be this? I had an IUD removal and insertion done by Dr Chac- did he not find the presence of the Adenomyosis upon examination? Did he ignore it? I was left with so many questions. 2024: I just had my endometriosis excision surgery with one of the top leading excision specialists along with hysterectomy, salpingectomy, cystectomy, fibroid removal and I'm FINALLY myself again. I am PAIN FREE for the first time in my adult life & I need Dr Chac to know that. Let my patient experience be a learning experience. read more

Worse doctor I've ever seen! Completely heartless when it comes to miscarriages. He made sure to tell me about how the lab would "throw away my baby after testing". Who says something like that to a grieving person? He straight up lied to me about other things. I was not impressed by the customer service skills of his nurses. I could hear him and his nurse shouting back and forth about testing one of his patients hadn't done yet. This is the first time I saw this Doctor. I was not examined, nor asked any information about my health, past exams-results, or my sexual history/activity. He gave me a prescription and instructions for changes in my hormone replacement therapy, was condescending toward my questions and instructions I was given by another another gynecologist. He did not answer a couple of important questions I had, he did not touch me or examine me in any way. I was rushed out of there with an order for imaging (mammogram). The paper says that "patient does not have breasts implants." He did not examine me, he did not ask me if I have implants, I was wearing a large wool sweater and sitting at a distance from him. No way to even see what kind of breasts I have! He never offered to examine me. I waited for months for this appointment. This was a waste of my time and completely unacceptable. read more

This doctor is a JOKE. My best friend and surrogate went to see him , after explaining that this time we decided to take a more holistic natural approach with a midwife he decided to call me cheap , not knowing my past history of 10 years of infertility and over 200k trying to have a baby . We explained to him over and over again about the IUI procedure and he keep asking us how many embryos we put inside of her . Well IUI DOES not involve embryos . He has dismissed all our questions and concerns about the pregnancy. Absolutely disrespectful and condescending. After I left this same review in a different site , this egotistical man decided to break the hippa laws and share my surrogate information publicly. I called his office immediately as says officer manager under the answer, and for my surprise he answers the phone , and starts with this same dismissive speech again , soon I mentioned to him that lawyers will be involved he immediately toned down and said he would remove the part he was lying on the answer for the review I post about him . I scheduled my initial appointment for pregnancy and saw Dr. Chac. At the time I thought it was weird that no ultrasound or heartbeat check was done and that I was told my appointment was for a gynecological consultation. But since my previous pregnancies were after doing IVF I thought maybe that's why it was different and this is just the way it is. They told me they had to do a pregnancy test at this visit first, before they do anything else because some people don't know when their LMP was or lie about it. Okay... Since then I've called other ob offices in the area and a friend who has had two recent pregnancies and have learned that this initial "consultation" is not normal. I did not ask to schedule an appointment for a gynecologist consultation. I asked for a pregnancy visit. Maybe it's not a big deal for someone who has a $20 copay, but I just paid $385 to "find out if we like each other" and have my stomach felt for 15 seconds? This is absurd to me. Even if I did have a cheap copay isn't it taking $ from insurance companies unnecessarily? They said it's their office policy to have that extra visit. If that's the policy it should be explained before patients (and husbands) take off work, get a babysitter, wait in the waiting room for 45 minutes etc to come in. If you give someone and charge them for something they didn't ask for, that's stealing. Is this legal? It sounds to me like it's just a way to make an extra buck. Also I talked to my insurance company about the issue and they said dr Chac's office charged me for a 45 minute visit when I was only with him for 15-20 minutes max, mostly talking about insurance, confirming what I already knew after the receptionist told me something wrong about how it worked. (They charged me $385, and I assumed correctly that after sending it to my insurance the amount allowed would be less than that and I would be reimbursed the difference. But the receptionist didn't know that's how it would work.) Our conversation relating to pregnancy was probably 5 minutes. He seemed nice though so I'll give a generous 2 stars even though the entire practice seems shady to me. read more

Worst experience of my life!!!!! He was so cold hearted about the diagnosis of our baby! And he refused to do the ultrasound on my week 12 and at 18 week ultrasound he revealed the results and our baby didn't make it! EVERY OTHER DR I SAW , specialist i saw after him ! TOLD US THE CONDITION OF OUR BABY WAS ABLE TO BE SEEN AT 9 weeks ultrasound and 12 weeks ! It honestly would've saved us the heartbreak! Bad experience with Dr. Chac's office! I made an appt. went in early to fill out paperwork and was told I needed to pay my entire deductible upfront, not even the cost of an office visit, which I have never heard of. The front desk was adamant that I make a $600 payment and they would reimburse me what insurance covered. I was pretty appalled as this was just a regular office visit and not a procedure- why would I need to pay that amount up front when they verified they took my insurance? I offered to call the insurance and have them verify my coverages and she stated it was the policy of the doctors office to pay the whole deductible upfront. I would not pay my deductible up front especially when office visits for preventive care are covered on my insurance and my co-pay is normally $20, I probably would have paid $200 for an office visit to be reimbursed, but not the $600 deductible. When I called a different gyno office to setup a new appt, they said they had never heard of a provider charging the deductible and that it sounds like they are taking advantage of their patients. They did not call me to discuss this before I came in and I had provided all my insurance info and even called to verify they took my insurance, they gave me no info on this odd billing practice before I came in and its not on the website! I would not recommend anyone to use Dr. Chac and would stay away! read more

Dr. Chac is amazing! He has great bedside manner and always has a smile on his face. He always answered all our questions and was very informative. Dr. Chac delivered both our daughters via c section and the scar is way smaller than I imagined! The girls in the front are friendly and super helpful. Any time I called they made sure to answer all my questions or call me back if they did not have an answer right then and there. I worked with Dr. Chac for about a year and a half when we lived right up the street. He was very knowledgeable and helpful when my husband and I were wanting to start our family. It wasn't easy for us but Dr. Chac pulled out all the stops to make me feel comfortable and heard. His office is very clean and the staff went out of their way to remember my name so it feels very personal/welcoming. My only issue was there were times I'd have to wait an hour plus to see him but he does run is own clinic so I guess that comes with the territory. Overall I'd highly recommend him! read more

In 2016, I got pregnant but unfortunately miscarried. Two weeks after the miscarriage, I started bleeding nonstop and went to the ER because apparently I had tissue stuck in my uterus that not even the doctor from the ER could take it out. I thank God and doctor Chac because they saved my life from dying. Plus, I now have beautiful one-year-old daughter who came to the world perfectly healthy. Dr. Chac really cares about women's health, is highly intelligent, straight forward, and very funny. I love him and his staff very much. Bless them all! read more

Dr. Chac is by far the best Obgyn I've been to in my lifetime. He delivered my second child in 2016 and will be delivering and handling my prenatal care for my third child. If i could give this doctor no stars I would. It was the worse experience i've ever had. I went to get checked after having a miscarriage and when he came in he was like "okay, sorry i'm late. Let's get into this miscarriage" as if what I went through was nothing. He showed no emotion and was passive aggressive. I asked if I could get an ultrasound done to make sure everything was out and he said no I did not need to get checked. I asked questions that I was concerned about and he literally laughed at me and told me I was overthinking everything and that I was young and had nothing to worry about. I left his office in tears and feeling worse about my situation and wished I had never got referred. The reason i'm now writing this review is because I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after having a second miscarriage. I could of been diagnosed months ago and could have started my treatment if Dr chac chose to listen to me and do his job. My new obgyn diagnosed right away while having my ultrasound done and I began my treatment the same day I was diagnosed. Ladies please be mindful about seeing this doctor. I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through and by seeing other reviews, other women have also experienced how horrible this doctor is. read more

Love Dr Chac and his staff! They took care of me during my entire first pregnancy and he delivered my son. Now that I'm pregnant with my second I went back to Dr Chac again and everything has been great again. He always takes the time for me and my husband. I highly recommend him! I have been Dr Chac's patient for more than 2 years and my follow up visits were always great and comfortable, until problems with his referral department arised recently in which her referral personnel treated me with disrepect and rudeness. I asked for someone else to speak with, but guess whatt?? doctor Chack took the phone and spoke with me regarding the referral issue and was defending his staff even though I mentioned him of the bad situation. As a result of this, I think that the relationship Patient-Doctor was broken and I would'nt feel any more comfortable to step into his clinic anymore. I have always understood the patient should come first no matter what, and I used to feel caressed and well trated by Dr Chac, after this situation I wil no longer "bother" him with my presence nor will I have intentions of making future appointments.. Just to say something...My previous gynecologist was Dr Fred Schnepper, who has been retired for few years. My boyfriend and I went to an appointment and dr chac wouldn't let my boyfriend into my ultrasound appointment. I was scared and didn't know what was going on finally dr. Chac came in the room and said that when my boyfriend and I came to our last appointment that he sat in the chair in the waiting room and the chair scratched the wall so he was not allowed to attend this appointment. I'm sure if we scratched the wall it was a complete accident and they chose to not allow him to attend my appointment I do not understand this I have been coming to this dr. Office for over 15 years and dr Schnepper was my dr he was awesome now dr. Chac has taken over it is time to leave this office asap read more
