She is caring, has great bedside manner, easy to talk to about anything. I like their patient portal- you can message her directly. As a patient it is YOUR own responsibility to verify your medical plan benefits/coverage & verify the medical provider & facility is in-network/where to go for cost savings and coverage before calling to make appointment. Don't rely on office to solely do it for you. PLEASE call your insurance 1st for anything related to Medical - Denta - Vision plan. (That's what insurance companies are paid to do for you) Know before you go! Save yourself $$$ A good office will book your next preventative appointment in advance as they do. read more

If I could give this facility negative stars I would. The brief experience I had at this office was far from quality care and extremely unprofessional. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and by the time the front desk receptionist checked in other patients who were ahead of me and sat on the phone making calls, it was 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. She finally begins to assist me and then proceeds to tell me that it is now 10 minutes past my appointment and that MD Nguyen is now refusing to see me. The receptionist and medical assistant then proceed to speak in Spanish negatively about me, not knowing that I understood them. I am actually content I was refused to be seen because if this is an insight into the quality of care I would receive then I want absolutely nothing to do with MD Nguyen or this facility. read more

South Bay OBGYN - Extremely rude and unprofessional front desk staff. - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me - Chula Vista, California

I am very unsatisfied with the services that have been provided at the Chula Vista location. I went in for my annual exam which is covered under my insurance as preventative only to get a bill for $156. My second appointment that I waited 4 weeks for an iud placement was a fail because the doctor dropped the iud contaminating it and could no longer be placed. My insurance was billed for that appointment. The biggest problem is that I cancelled the rescheduled appointment I made for an iud placement and while looking through my claims, noticed that my insurance was still billed for over $2500 when I never stepped foot in that office for that appointment that day. The claim was processed and the doctor got paid but the services were never performed. I am forced to escalate this to fraud department as this was a major billing error (if you can even call it an "error") and my records are now incorrect. The CEO Suzzane Catalano has been very unhelpful and made me feel like I just don't understand my insurance when in reality it's how they bill my insurance. Very frustrating and upsetting! read more

I do not recommend prenatal care here. I dreaded coming to appointments. The office staff at the national city & sharp chula vista location are very rude and unprofessional. They will also blast your phone and call you 10 times in a row instead of simply leaving a voicemail. Clinical staff has input false patient information a few times, and when I brought it up to them they did not remove it from my medical records. Many of the medical assistants are inexperienced. For urine tests they use paper cups left in the bathroom instead of sterile plastic cups. The floors of the check up rooms are filthy (NC location). The doctors were okay but overall had a poor experience. read more

I went in for a Pap smear in April 2024 and have been filling out forms on their website and calling and emailing to get my results and to set up another appointment - no one picks up on the nurse line, it's impossible to get ahold of someone on the phone when I call their office line as directed. It's been four months since I went in for my Pap smear and the medical group still hasn't given me my result. I don't know if I'll ever know at this point. So, why even use them as your health care provider, if you can't get your results? Based on how impossible it has been to get ahold of anyone who can tell me my results, I've lost trust in the ability of South Bay OBGYN Medical Group to take care of me when I do become pregnant. Absolutely Unprofessional, Negligent, and a Pure Money Grab My experience at Southbay OBGYN was, without a doubt, the most negligent and frustrating medical encounter I have ever had. I came in with a serious issue--an IUD lodged sideways in my cervix, causing me significant pain--and was met with a dangerous lack of preparation and an appalling level of unprofessionalism. Prolonged Negligence and Unnecessary Pain This office has been aware of the critical, painful position of my IUD for over a month, yet has shown zero urgency in resolving the matter. On two separate appointments, the medical staff failed to review my medical record prior to my visit. Had they done so, they would have seen that a previous attempt to remove the IUD had failed and that I would require a planned, more involved procedure (dilation and anesthesia). Instead, they tried to manually remove the IUD for over an hour, causing me intense, unnecessary pain, only to fail, proving they had not done their homework. This prolonged negligence, wasted time, caused undue suffering, and was billed to my insurance. Deceptive Communication and Billing Focus A follow-up appointment was scheduled, giving me the impression they would finally perform the necessary removal procedure. At no point was it clearly communicated that this appointment was a pre-operative consultation or that the actual removal would be considered "surgery." It appears that maximizing billable visits was a higher priority than honest, clear communication about my care plan, especially given their months-long awareness of my condition. Appalling and Unprofessional Conduct The conduct of the doctors was utterly unacceptable. First, the final attending doctor displayed an astonishing lack of preparation by falsely assuming and accusing me of having FOUR C-sections when my chart clearly shows I have had only one. This disrespectful assumption, which was not followed by an apology, underscores their laziness and failure to simply read a patient's record. Second, when I attempted to voice a complaint about the poor care I had received, the doctors were rude and literally walked out of the room while I was speaking. To top off this disrespect, I then overheard the doctors openly discussing the specifics of my sensitive medical case in the hallway, violating basic standards of patient privacy and professional discretion. This clinic is an absolute disgrace. They are clearly more focused on racking up insurance bills than providing competent or compassionate care. We initially came to Paradise Valley Hospital for our appointments but switched to Sharp. We were able to see Megan Jett at both hospitals and she is truly amazing. By far one of the sweetest, most attentive nurses I've ever had. Both locations had great staff, with the exception of just one of the front desk receptionists. Everyone else was very friendly and helpful and informative. They responded to my messages on the portal quickly. The clinic in PVH is a little old but the care we received was great. This place is ghetto, I was referred by my primary doctor and I was called by their front desk associate. As she was leaving a message for me to call them back she didn't hang up the phone and proceed to say "this girl is a walking effin hysterectomy," if that doesn't tell you what type of people they hire then I don't know what does. Right off the bat the receptionist raised her voice to me and threatened to cancel my appointment because I didn't have my physical insurance. Do not come here unless you genuinely can't find another provider who takes your insurance! My first prenatal appointment I was asked for a pee sample (typical) but they have us pee in DIXIE CUPS then write our names on with a sharpie!! Then I was given a Pap smear (which I was totally fine with) however, while I was getting undressed I realized that there was no curtain between the door and where I'm getting examined so sitting there naked with the paper covering was uncomfortable b/c I felt like anyone walking by could see a glimpse of me naked if a nurse or doctor opened the door. I had to go back for an ultrasound and you can tell how old their machine was because I can barely see anything on the screen, the sonogram tech had to push down a little hard in order to see anything, and I wasn't even able to hear the heartbeat. Excellent care for Dr. Scott and her staff. The assistant manage Neli and Suzanne Catalano, charge me $500 because my insurance system is down. BASICALLY MONEY DOWN BEFORE MEDICAL SERVICES WILL BE RENDERED. This manager SUZANNE CATALANO need to charge me before they do the service. I called the insurance and my insurance said I shouldn't be charge. Then I called and spoke to Neli to tell them about what the insurance told me. She said she will let the manager Suzanne Catalano to know but it's been almost 3 weeks till now no results. Their system is just money making. This service is not acceptable. read more

I've been a patient here for years had both of my children with this office. Fast forward to present tried to get an appt to get an annual exam/IUD removal which this is the office that placed it. I'm currently a kidney transplant patient which I still have private insurance through work as well as Medicare for my kidney transplant needs. Called the office for an appt and was told I couldn't be seen cause I currently have Medicare mind you my private insurance is primary I was told they don't accept Medicare but the insurance handbook says differently. I've been doing medical/dental insurance billing for 22yrs I know how it works tried to explain and the rude worker still act like she knew how it works . The providers are very nice but the staff is rude and need training on all aspects of the system. I was told find another provider and let them know I need a IUD removed. read more

I have had a wonderful experience at South Bay OBGYN. The staff are all lovely and friendly and genuinely seem to care. More patients should be encouraged to write a review because after reading the bad reviews I think it's from the same person who seems very vindictive and is creating fake accounts. A few things I feel people need to know about this place. 1. They charge $35 copay for every prenatal visit. Most insurances cover 100% of prenatal visits. Luckily, my insurance has reimbursed all the so called "co-pay" I paid SBOBGYN. 2. They are very eager to do induced labor without a valid medical reason. Even their contracted delivery hospital Sharp Chula Vista said that too. 3. As you can see from the picture, their equipments are nasty. And old. They use the old school scale, which I believe to be off about 5lbs. 4. They sent me to get various lab tests but I never got my result back without asking. I asked them about it during the next visit(4 weeks later), they told me they hadn't received the result from the lab. The very next day, they told me they just received it. And the result was dated 3 weeks prior. This happened twice and I just believe my lab results were just sitting in their office for weeks and I probably would have never got them had I not asked about them. read more

I have had 3 children under the care of this Drs office, and absolutely love them. There has been a few times that their hasn't been the best communication with the office, but the care I received from Dr. Wang has always been so pleasant and positive. As well as the care I have received from Meagan. I absolutely love them both. Dr. Wang is so calming while delivering your baby and his energy is just so relaxing and beautiful. I highly recommend them both. The lady that works the front office in Chula Vista also is amazing! I will definitely be returning here if there's more babies in my future or any other medical needs. read more

HORRIBLE. I chose M. Gonzalez to be my dr in August of last year. I met her once and then I was told "she would be out for the rest of the year" cool, fine, so I had Dr. Scott see me until they would inform me that Dr. Gonzalez would be back (or so I thought! Nope, never) which I thought was unprofessional of them. Aside from that, every time I come in I wait AN HOUR to be seen. Not exaggerating. Only to be seen for 5 minutes & brushed off. They don't really seem to care about your health here or maybe just mine. I'm bitter that I had such a bad experience with an OB/GYN during my pregnancy. Terrible experience! After waiting over 45 minutes for my appointment, the physician ordered lab tests I was never made aware of nor did I need. I was stuck with a lab bill (that had no merit) that I was now responsible to pay. The office manger, Jackie, said she would take care of the bill, but 1 year later & many empty promises, I am now getting mail from a collection agency! Wonderful, welcoming place. The staff is wonderful, comforting, caring and they take everything you say into consideration. Dr Scott is a no-nonsense dr who will tell it like it is, but will also listen to your concerns and encourage you to ask questions if you have them. I was being seen following a miscarriage, and she's been the first Dr that has listened to my concerns ever since the first appointment. The nurses are sweet and funny as well. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! they are so unprofessional and Ditsy! I made an appointment just for a regular check up and I noticed that they didn't ask for a urine sample like most doctors do at every appointment. When DR karen kabayashi did a physical check up I mentioned to her that they did not ask me for a urine sample, and she asked if i could possibly be pregnant and i said maybe. She brushes it off and says you should be fine. A month later, I find out that I am pregnant and went in for my prenatal visit. They marked down that i had hyperthyroid ( which i dont) and sent me to get lab work and a special image ultrasound that had NOTHING to do with my situation!! even the Dr at the ultra sound place said they sent them a fax requesting the wrong type of ultrasound to be done for me! On top Of that I recieved a call from them saying that they forgot to give me my Prenatals 15 minutes after i already left! they need to go out if business. People's health is not soemthing to mess with, and sending / diagnosing them with wrong things is deff a safety concern!!!! read more

TERRBLE!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!! I was referred here by my sister, because she had a good experience with Dr. Elizabeth Scott when she was pregnant with her baby. My sister did warn me that the office isn't the newest and some of the patients are questionable, but she really liked the fact that they do an ultrasound at every visit. During my first prenatal visit with the nurse practitioner, Megan, she warned me that the office gets bonkers, but she loved Dr. Scott. I don't need a fancy place. Just a great doctor for my needs. I wanted to be open minded because I needed to find a new ob/gyn once I found out I was pregnant. I didn't like my previous ob/gyn and my sister liked Dr. Scott. She warned me Dr. Scott was a lil quirky, but I just needed to try someone new. I went to that office for 3 visits. I waited an hour for my appointments. What is the point of scheduling an appointment when you don't get called in until an hour later? I was always patient and never complained, but that's really ridiculous. I didn't want to stress during my pregnancy. They have a sign that says, "If you have waited more than 20 minutes please let us know." I let them know and they did the generic, "We are sorry, someone will be right with you." Dr. Scott never rushed me, but my experience with her wasn't the greatest either. She is a bit quirky and went through different types of tests with me. I have a hormonal disorder and it caused me to gain 7lbs faster than I should have gained. She told me, "Whoa! You need to lay off the food." I had to defend myself and explain why. But I shouldn't have had to do that. She was my doctor and should have known my history. Then when she examined me she saw some scars on my abdomen. She asked what those were from. Seriously? I am your patient. Review my chart 5 minutes before coming into the room to see me and pretend you remember who I am! I had some blood work done from a previous appt and when I came to see her I was expecting to find out the results. However, she asked me if I received my results. Why would I receive them? Isn't it her responsibility to get the results and explain to me what everything means? Well, after this 3rd visit with her we had an ultrasound done. She told the nurse Aracelli to print them for me. Then I asked the receptionist 3 separate times because we were waiting for the printout of the ultrasound for over 30 minutes. The 4th time I went to ask the receptionist again. She called the nurse and asked again. The answer I got was, "Sorry, but you should have asked her sooner before she called another patient back and they deleted your ultrasound." I was in shock! Are you freakin kidding me??? It was also her tone like she didn't care. We have tried and waited 9 years for this moment. It is a special time in our lives. I can get over not having the picture as long as our baby is healthy. But the unprofessional attitude, rudeness from the staff and doctor, and the crazy wait time was enough for me! At another visit I was waiting for Aracelli to write up my lab orders. Instead I see her going to the front desk and chit chatting about the news with ppl while I'm just sitting there waiting. I was also the only person in the waiting room. They were not busy that day. My last appointment with them was on Monday and by Thursday I had a new ob/gyn from Sharp Reese Stealy. DO NOT COME HERE. There are hundreds of ob/gyns in SD. I had started my journey with southbay last July and in the very beginning I was happy I really liked my DR Rivera. After my first appointment I was told I must come back in 6 months to retest me there was some worrying results. I promptly made my appointment exactly 6 months later by this time I was worried... I tool the day off work unpaid- that night I was driving home from work and and the office called a canceled my appointment gave me no reason and said I had to reschedule. This happened 4 yes 4 more times after that every time the night before!!! I finally called and spoke with Jackie the office manager, she was really nice and apologetic and asked if there was something she could do to make it better to wich I responded just get me seen! I go back to give then m one more chance and they were suppose to order more tests and told me they would get back to me in a couple of days. After 3 weeks I call I know exactly what has happend they forgot me agiain... Very disappointed. Oh one last thing I didn't mention when I called to find the results of a different test I had had done a nurse there read me off someone else's info! As she was reading I kept telling her I hadn't had any of these issues she was telling me about! She then got really quiet I told both Jackie and Suzanne this information. The appointment its self went well, and quickly. But when I called back later a couple weeks to ask if I can pick up my results for an over seas screening they told me they could not give me MY results unless they charge me $25. OR I could have them faxed to my PCM. So I asked them to do this. And after me asking them 3 times and my PCM calling them ask grilling them as to why they are charging patients for their own records it finally got faxed. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! First off I'd like to say it's pretty ridiculous that every time I call I can never talk to my obgyn and they usually never return my call I have to call back numerous times, and they are always rude giving me the run around but my BIGGEST issue with them is that I am pregnant and have hypermesis gravidarum and it is hell its severe all day sickness and it's like I know more about it then they do and the only thing they can say is why are still sick!? Like seriously and treating me like I'm just trying to abuse medication when I'm just trying to have the safest pregnancy for me and my unborn child and stay out the ER like who asks someone why they are still sick as if I'm suppose to know that! Then I call about my prescription they prescribed to me and they have no record of it "supposedly" and basically acting like they don't even know who I am it's super ridiculous! Don't go here if you need serious help and you are pregnant because all they have to say is what they think shouldn't be happening and I'm sorry but a man that has had no experience with being pregnant should listen to their pregnant patient or look up the disorder at least if they are not "familiar"with it instead of treating me like I'm doing something wrong! read more

Once again, I'm writing this review to express that negativity is much more widely expressed than positivity! My experience with SB OBGYN and ALL of their Provider's has always been positive... I believe that there must be active interaction on the part of the patient in order to have her needs met. A passive patient will always be dissatisfied with their care; no one can meet your needs if you do not express what they are... As a patient, I am an active participant in my coordination of care and have formed a partnership relationship with the Provider's at SB OBGYN. No one should have to have a negative experience with their doctor; by taking responsibility for your part in the process a patient can find the right Provider for them within this group of Providers and their multiple locations! read more

Horrible experience!! Went in in October of 2014 for my first prenatal with Karen kobayashi and she came in shook my hand without even looking at me then did the ultrasound and told me she wasn't even sure I was pregnant even though we saw something on the monitor. We heard a fast heart beat but she said it was probably mine and told me I probably didn't have a normal pregnancy. She got up gave me a bag with prenatal pills and said to come back in two weeks to confirm pregnancy. I tried to make an appt and she was going to be out for three weeks so I made an appt with another doctor two weeks out. Two days before the appt I got a call from the doc office saying my appt was cancelled cause the doctor couldn't make her appts. By then I was going crazy trying to stay positive so i just looked for another obgyn. I did have a normal pregnancy and just gave birth. Like others have stated, they don't seem to care about their patients more like just billing the insurance. Oh and I just got a bill from them for first time patient and the ultrasound even though my insurance covers 100% maternity care, I called them and they said they never confirmed my pregnancy since I never went back! read more
