Be aware when answering health questions by your sharp on/gyn during your preventive health screening. If you answer any questions, suddenly they code the visit as a health follow-up and now you are liable for out of pocket costs when your preventative appointments are not supposed to be billed to the patient. Rude staff. This place feels like the DMV of Doctors offices. This staff needs some inter-personal and empathy training because every time we go in for an appointment we dread the experience. We have seen other doctors offices where the staff is pleasant, lively, and eager to build a relationship but not here. Lastly, we have never even seen the doctor, just a nurse who seems to want to rush us out every time. We are very disappointed that this is the experience we are having during what should be a beautiful experience. read more

Late post... Honestly I didn't think of Yelp before. But, I hate to think of anyone experiencing what I did. I agree with all of the other negative reviews about his scheduling / always having to wait. But, that I could forgive for a good doctor. This man is NOT! My story: I had extremely difficult menstruation - heavy bleeding that caused me to change clothes sometimes three times a day, regardless of how many feminine products I used. Accompanied by excruciating pain. Having previously had cancer, I preferred to avoid birth control pills and he suggested an IUD. The IUD ended up slipping out of place (no idea if his placement had anything to do with this) and it got embedded in my cervix and I had to go to the ER to have it removed (Horrible experience at Sharp Chula Vista ER as well - but that's a whole other story - including some other male doctor who had the nerve to tell me I was overreacting and that a slipped IUD wasn't an emergency - until they realized it had to be surgically removed) Fast forward to healing from that and determining Uterine Ablation would be another possible solution to my issues. The surgery itself was minor - but Dr. Levine LEFT SURGICAL MATERIALS INSIDE ME!!! After weeks of my incision not healing (and during a visit to my Mom who insisted something was wrong and I go to the ER - in her town) these other doctors discovered he'd left something inside me and it was incredibly infected. The whole site had to be reopened and cleaned out and I was very sick. When I confronted him about this - he said it was not a big deal, very minor, and an "easy fix". Well, no it was not! Needless to say, I never went back. You should never go in the first place!! Take care. read more

Rude staff. Doctor didn't show up to my appointment. They tried to pawn me off on a nurse practitioner. They had two weeks prior to my appointment to procure my medical records. Surprise they didn't. So they knew nothing about me & how far along in my pregnancy I was. No scheduled sonograms. Another suprise they don't actually do sonograms in the office at all! They schedule them with someone else in the building who only works mondays. So if your appointment isnt on a Monday you will have to come back. The staff told me it wouldn't be a good fit for me if I wasn't okay with the possibility of waiting for up to two hours for the doctor if he didn't show up to an appointment (which happens frequently at this office) before deciding to Go home if I didn't wanna see the nurse practitioner. read more

Honestly had a 50/50 experience. The front staff is very nice and attentive. It's the actual drs and midwife that I had problems with. Waited over a hour for the dr at one visit. Dr. Levine. Only for him to talk to me for 5 minutes and dismiss everything I'd asked. My last visit was today since I am moving and I felt very dismissed when it came to my questions. Asked for my records my new dr, and after the midwife just looked at me and rudely said okay and walked out. Didn't tell me where to go or what to do. So I waited in the lobby. Never was called for any test results about anything I had done. I had to continually call to get my results. I'm a first time mom so of course I'm anxious. I just don't recommend this office for first time moms. If you can, find a different office. read more

Worst obgyn by far! I kept trying to schedule an ob appointment since I found out I was pregnant and they kept calling me ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT to cancel/reschedule. They did this about 4 times. Thank you for making me take the days off work for no reason. Finally when I got the video consult with the doctor it was a 5 minute consult seemed like he wa sin a rush. I ended up going to a different obgyn and thank God I did. I love my new OB. read more

Dr.Levine has been my doctor for the past 4 years and he was referred to me by my sister in law. He's helped me plan my pregnancy when I decided to have a second child and he's also helped me with preventive situations like abnormal papsmear and most recently I had a procedure called a leep. Through all of these times in my life Dr. Levine has always been honest and straight forward. He's been dependable through and through and with any questions I have he's always had patience to answer them. 1st time appoinments I understand they take longer due to paperwork. But other then that I always came in early and was always attended within the 1hour or 1and a half. The staff members are friendly. Except for the front desk lady she always has different moods. Dr.Levine always seems like hes in a rush, goes in the room and out he goes to the next. I litterly wait outside to be called and then go inside the check in room to wait again for the Dr. Then I wait 30min+ just so he can come in check my babys heart ask if everything's okay I have some questions and his response is thats normal everything is going to be fine. "Just drinks lots of water and get plenty of rest"Total time with him less then 4min. In total you only receive 2 ultrasounds this should improve. I have went to Tijuana to have a 4d ultrasound done the doctor had told me my baby is healthy but to tell my docter (Dr.Levine) that my babys umblicord was around her neck (she was around 5months) I told (Dr.Levine) about this and he like always said everything is normal shes to small and she'll grow out of it. My contractions started 1 week early I was in L.A at this time and had to deliver there. My labor was 18hours long my baby girl heart was lowering down every single time my contractions were coming. I was forced to take the epidural or choose a C-Section. When she finally came out her umblicord was wrap around her neck and body and was detached from the placenta. The doctors were surprised she was even alive something like this HAD to be a Emergency C-Section and even though only had 50% chance of survival.Thank god she was born healthy and strong! I would not go back to Dr.Levine or recommend him for a docter. Yes mistakes happen but in this case I had told him about this and he insisted everything was normal. I wanted an ultrasound done an he insisted everything was fine. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Mauricio Levine for the last 13 years. He has always been very professional and caring. He is a great surgeon and a great human being. I had my two healthy children by C-Section under his care and I recently had an emergency hysterectomy. No words can describe how good he treated me and my family during these hard times. The surgery was a success and my incision healed very nicely and without complications. At the hospital Dr. Levine always made sure everything was done correctly and according to his instructions. I would never change Doctors !!!! He saved me from a lot of PAIN and from Cancer!!! I definitely recommend Dr. Mauricio Levin as a gynecologist, as a surgeon and as a heath care decision maker for all women's issues... I have experience interacting with many OB/GYN MD's. My experience with Dr. Levine is that he is very smart, compassionate and thorough. He spends time talking with his patients and explaining what his thoughts are in terms of his plan in caring for them. He is easy to talk to and has a very calm and relaxed demeanor. Yes he is a busy doctor, as is any OB/GYN. He has babies to deliver, surgeries to perform and patients to see in his clinic. Despite this, he takes time talking with his patients and the staff that is helping care for his patients. Overall, a wonderful doctor. read more

Dr. Levine has delivered both of my daughters and I couldn't be more pleased with his work. Everything from how he truly cares for his patients to how much detail he puts into his work. With my first daughter being born in 2012 to an emergency csection Dr. Levine reassured me that everything would go perfectly smooth and safe and of course it did. I recently had my second daughter as a scheduled csection and Dr.Levine not only left a beautiful incision but his work is so well done and done very quickly. After each of my girls we born he continued to check in with myself and the girls. From doctors appts he was always very quick and to the point but soooo detail oriented when it came to the health and safety of my babies and of myself as the patient. Everyone in his office are very friendly and extremely helpful. Never had a problem being seen quickly and promptly or rescheduling if necessary. My questions were always answered and I was always informed at to who I would be seen by at my next visit. I can not find one negative thing to say as both my experiences with the Dr. have simply been amazing which is why myself, my mother and two sisters have always been seen and had children delivered by him. read more

Want my advice? Do NOT go to this doctor. Don't let the new building fool you, you won't be pleased here. First of all, in the four months I was a patient here I saw the actual doctor once. I kept getting appointments with their midwife who doesn't even deliver the baby. When I would ask about seeing the docter I would get the stink eye. When we finally met him he made it so obvious that he wanted us in and out practically pushing us out the door and didn't really want to answer our questions. He made it seem as if we were taking up his time (total visit with the doctor: 5 minutes). Most of the certifications he has hanging on his wall are from Mexico btw. With regards to his staff, oh where do I begin? The front desk lady is the worst one! She is the heavier set lady with the black hair who is always browsing the internet instead of working. She obviously hates her job or should not work customer service. She rolls her eyes, she is rude (in person and on the phone). Just asking her a question feels like we are inconveniencing her. The ultrasound tech was nice but again, too quick, in and out and didn't even let us enjoy seeing our baby for the first time. Their equiptment isn't the best either. The midwife was nice but she told us she would do one thing only to say to the staff she never said that (not professional and not cool). One time we went to our appointment 5 minutes early only to find the door locked (I'm assuming for their lunch?). I knocked and no one answered. I could hear them laughing inside. Finally, five mintues AFTER my scheduled appointment someone got up and unlocked the door (mind you only unlocked it, didn't even open it to say hello or apologize after they heard me knocking). On top of that I STILL had to wait ten minutes for them to get their sh$t going and call me up. I have never been seen on time. The most I've waiting is 40 minutes to see the midwife. I'm not even done but one thing that grossed me out was that as you know you have to give a urine sample each time you visit. You go to the restroom and place your sample in that cubby that they get from the otherside...tell me I didn't open up that cubby only to find two samples from other women still sitting there in the cubby!? WTF? I don't care if you are paying by medi-cal, private insurance or cash, no one should have to endure the stupidity and lack of customer service from these people. I know, I know #harshbuttrue BTW: Dr. Levine will not be delivering my baby. read more

If you are expecting parents, don't go to this Dr he is a terrible choice. Starting with his staff (especially the front desk lady) at his office who is always pissed of at you or something. My wife and I are well learned persons, and were amazed with the things this Dr said. Turns out that my wife developed a condition called preeclampsia @34-35 weeks so we went to this Dr the only thing he did was monitorize her and talked her to drink lots of water and get some bed rest, during this time I started to read and investigate about this condition, turns out that if its not treated right with medication it can evolve into something fatal for either mom and baby or even both. That in most cases the best thing is to deliver the baby as soon as possible, c section is the best choice. I told the Dr about this and what does he say I'm not doing a c section lets wait till week 40 until she goes into labor. Long story short the 4th of July weekend came up and we went down to TJ to visit my inlaws, during that time my wife starts feeling dizzy and tells me she started seing twinkling lights (this was because of the preeclampsia), drove my wife to the hospital inTJ the Drs there took a look at her and told me she had to have an emergency c section other wise things could get worse for my wife and baby. They did an ultrasound and found out that the placenta was getting old and ugly and that my baby had the umbilical cord wrapped around for days now, that if we have waited more who knows what could of happend (when she was monitorized just 2 days before nether him or his staff saw that). Thankfully my wife and baby are doing excelent right now. I just want to warn expecting moms and dads about this so called Dr with such a terrible judgment read more

If I could give this guy negative stars I would. My story with this doctor starts when I had my birth control removed (the implanon) he didn't actually removed it. It was the nurse practitioner who did. I didnt replace the BC cus i was planning on getting pregnant. A couple months later im pregnant. I asked to be seeing by dr Levine but get another lady this time. She goes and checks me and tells me im 9 weeks. I knew that was impossible since it hadn't been that long since the bc was removed. Its in the chart!! She says that im wrong and dismissed me. After she touched me down there and squeezed the hell out of my stomach I started having the worst pains. The only thing that would bring relief was being in a tub with warm water. I called to get an appt. Levine is out of town. I went to the ER. Turns out I was only 5 weeks. They did a vaginal ultrasound and tell me they see something abnormal. They send me to levine's office. I get there where the same lady who removed my bc sees me. She says "according to your chart and the info from the ER your baby is dead. Never attached. Go home. Do bed rest but most likely you will lose the baby. After you bleed come back and we will check nothing was left inside" how do u even tell someone that?? She had no emotion, didnt even offer to help or say sorry for what you are going through, nothing! This is my first pregnancy with my husband of 3 years. We were so heartbroken! I didnt want to go to the bathroom in fear that i would bleed. I did bed rest for a month with the worst pains i ever felt. After a month of bed rest I go back to get checked. I had bleed but not enough to have had a miscarriage. I was scheduled for an ultrasound. I get there and all this moms are leaving the office with pictures of their babies and im crying knowing my baby will be dead according to the nurse practitioner. My mom and husband were super sad too. My turn comes. I explain everything to the tech who says "im sorry you are going through this but dont lose hope. Lets see what we find" she squeezed my arm. The only person with a heart in that whole office. She checks and we see a flicker. Its my baby!! She's alive!! We cried like well, babies and celebrated and were so grateful she was ok. Turns out i had a cyst that had burst. Next appointment i get the nurse practitioner again. I go off on her telling her how dare she scare people the way she had scared me and how if i had been someone else i could of had aborted a healthy baby only because she sucked at her job. After that I only ever saw dr Levine. The visits would last 5 minutes. He would just hear the heartbeat and say "sounds strong and steady. Come back in a month" all the questions my mom husband and i had were answered after a sarcastic laugh saying we were "too worried". By 5 months I start itching like a crazy person. It got to the point where i would make myself bleed. He said it was my skin stretching. Then I started fainting randomly. At 7-11, at the grocery store, at work, in the shower. I couldn't be alone. My blood pressure was through the roof. He said it was me overthinking. Wrote me a note to get pregnancy leave from work (im an instructional assistant). At 38 weeks i couldn't feel my baby move and I was terribly swollen all over. Called the office. Told me to count kicks and drink oj. I counted. Baby wasn't kicking. Went in to the ER. Had to get induced asap. They couldn't believe Levine had dismissed and IGNORED all my symptoms-itchy,bloated, swollen, high blood pressure, fainting, low iron, anemia- I had preeclampsia. My baby was under so much distress that her heartbeat was dropping fast. I told them Levine had said I wasn't going to deliver till week 42 because my cervix was shut according to him. They told me with preeclampsia babies need to be delivered at 36 weeks. My baby had been distressed for 2 weeks!! He had seen me 3 days before and hadn't said anything!! After 36 hours of labor my baby girl was born. Everything was set up to resuscitate her because the doctor who delivered her (not Levine mind you because he was in vacations) thought she wasn't going to make it. Miraculously she was fine but did have her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice. If I had delivered at 42 weeks like he was planning my baby wouldn't have made it for sure. 2 days after i had delivered he shows up like nothing. I told him how could he have missed the preeclampsia?! His answer "i didn't want to worry you" i told him he could leave. My mom told him off and he just shrugged it off and left. I hate him. He made what should of been the best experience of my life hell. Im glad I went with my instincts and went to the ER. God took care of me but this "doctor" is the worst. read more

I never feel rushed during my visits because he takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. He takes his practice beyond the office and calls me on the phone whenever I have any pending questions or concerns. I have been going to see Dr. Levine for nearly 20 years and it's great to go to a Doctor who's first words are "How are you Elaine" and actually mean it, these days you are lucky if a Doctor even knows your name, without looking at a chart first ! He tells me what I should do, but, still listens when I have any question about those suggestions. I have Never experienced any problems with the Staff and they have always been very polite and answered any questions I have had. Couple of times I may have had to wait a little longer, but, when I ask about any delay, the staff have given a reason and not just said "Oh, it won't be long" I would recommend Dr. Levine to anyone. read more

I agree with Marie E. I went to my first appointment and they have no organization skills whatsoever. I came half an hour early so I can get the paperwork out of the way and was told to come back in thirty mins that they were going to lunch. I come back and just like mentioned the door was unlocked but they did not open the door to let us know they were back or to come in. I did get an apology from the nurse though. I was told to pick up my prescription for vitamins at the pharmacy when I went to the pharmacy they didn't have it so they called the office and the receptionist said she had no idea what they were talking about? This place was PACKED and the receptionist muttered under her breathe "It's going to be one of those days". I understand dealing with people sucks some times but ffs try not to be so rude or at least don't make it so obvious that you hate your job. I don't see myself coming back to this place even though I really like the location. read more

He insisted that he write me a prescription for the expensive brand name. The brand name is way too expensive for me. now I have to wait for my pharmacy to get an approval from the doctor to use generic drug instead. I will never go to this doctor ever again. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Levine for the past 15 years and I am extremely confident that I have the best care possible. Besides being a great doctor, Dr. Levine is a very caring and warm human being. He always takes all the time I need to ask my questions and give and explain in detail his recommendations; as if I was the only patient in his office, when in fact his waiting room is always quite full. The office is extremely well kept and the staff is nice and courteous. He was the one who tied my tubes 10 years ago and has taken care of me through other ups and downs and I can only hopethat that he will be around to deliver my grandchildren!! read more

Where to begin...I am 20 weeks pregnant and I have only seen the doctor two times, I understand that he is a busy man but one time I had to wait over an hour and this my last visit to the office I had been waiting for 45 mins and he comes in rushing me because he had a C-section and wanted to get the patients that were waiting "out of the way!" I have only been seen by the nurse practitioner which is not so nice and is very cold doesn't really smile much and makes you feel uncomfortable, on the plus side she did answer a bit more questions I had than what the actual doctor did. OH! and the front desk lady...she obviously should not be working with people what so ever, she is always rude never smiles and acts like she is doing us a favor on scheduling appointments which is really all she ever does. on top of all of this I keep getting sent to get tests and am given no explanation as to what they are for, all I am told is I need them. I am dealing with a high risk pregnancy and gestational diabetes and instead of reassuring me that I and my baby will be ok I am only getting more scared by the minute here, and not to mention the doctor offered a blood test for birth defects when I have already had teo others and an ultrasound, but this test should have been given to me in the beginning of the pregnancy and his reassuring comment to me was, "if something is wrong with the baby all you have left to do is get used to the idea!" I do not feel like anyone should go to this doctor until maybe his attitude as well as that of most of his staff is improved. The only person I found kinda helpful was the ultrasound tech. read more

Dr. Mauricio Levine is an amazing doctor. You can really tell that he and his staff actually care about you. They are thorough and do not rush to get you out, always taking the time to explain things and follow up with any concerns or questions. Dr. Levine is also fluent in Spanish which made me feel even more comfortable being able to speak my native language. Furthermore, his office is in a great location and very well kept, making the OB/GYN experience even better. I was referred to Dr. Levine by friends and I will continue to refer him to others. I saw Dr. Levine a total of 3 times and each time he was at least 20 minutes late. My first appointment it was over an hour. When my second appointment came around I had actually miscarried hours before my appointment. When I called to tell them what happened and to reschedule due to lack of sleep and being in the ER all night, the lady who answered the phone didn't offer any kind of sympathy which was upsetting and rude. Then I go to the 2nd appointment after the miscarriage and the nurse comes in and asks me "So, hows everything going?!" I explained I had just miscarried and she said "I am so sorry, let me change it in the computer". My 3rd and final appointment, I was getting checked to make sure everything from the miscarriage made its way out and they had me sitting in the room with no pants or underwear for 45 minutes. I left. I was extremely pissed off and disappointed in the lack of compassion. read more
