The course was in good shape overall, greens needed a little work. Pace of play was good and price was fair.

Oakridge Bar…read moreand Country Club not only captures the beauty of the Lenox through 36 breathtaking holes, but it comforts and encourages golfers to "let their wild side out" if I do say so myself. WHERE DO I BEGIN. The Old Oaks: Let's start with the Guiness World Record holding 18 holes of the Old Oaks. The Old Oaks have attracted some of the greatest golfers of our generation. It is the oldest fucking course in the state of Michigan, and you can definitely tell! Its challenges include, not hitting the green on #1, sticking your wedge without bouncing off the trampoline green on #5, and keeping your composure as the inmates of Macomb Correctional Facility harass you on #6! The Marsh Oaks (tough) The Old Oaks may stick true to its name, but the Marsh Oaks is no cake walk. In fact, the Marsh is so tough that if you want to play it, there is no 9-hole rate! You must suffer the wrath of all 18 devastating holes! Indulge in the front, but the fun really begins at the turn. For first time golfers here at Oakridge Bar and Grill Country Club, #10 of the Marsh Oaks will have you saying, "how the fuck do we get back to the clubhouse?" Its challenges include chipping over the green monster on #11, not falling in love with a cart girl, and escaping without Malaria from all the mosquito bites! Never change Oakridge, we love ya!

Seeing it grow into the beautiful 18-hole layout it is today has been great to watch. The course itself is short but surprisingly challenging, which makes it fun for golfers of every level. The mature trees lining many of the fairways and the well-placed water hazards keep you thinking on almost every shot. It's the kind of course where strategy matters just as much as power. The greens are consistently in excellent condition, some of the best-maintained in the area, and they roll true. It's clear that a lot of pride goes into keeping the course looking great. After the round, the restaurant is a must-stop. The food is excellent, and I'm not exaggerating when I say even the hot dogs are fantastic. They also have a great selection of cold beer, both on tap and bottled. The staff is friendly, fun, and attentive. It is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The owner deserves a lot of credit. He's done a terrific job building the business and clearly cares about the course, the players, and the Port Sanilac community. If you're anywhere near Port Sanilac and looking for a round of golf, Huron Shores is absolutely worth the stop. It's one of those places that keeps you coming back.

The restaurant and golf course are immaculately kept and make for a scenic dining experience. Note that the restaurant is split up into two separate areas, one for larger groups and one for smaller dining. We had wanted to sit in the larger group area because it seemed like more fun, but instead we were seated on the other side and it was only us over there. The menu looked delicious and as we were both famished, we had quite the time figuring out what to order. Everything always sounds so good when you're hungry. We both ended up ordering the burger (with gluten free bun); mine with greek salad and hers with caesar. Decent burger, I would get it again. Service was friendly, but the food did take a while, especially for what we ordered. Must have been because of the other side being busy. Washrooms were clean and easy to find. The parking lot is also big with lots of extra large/long spots so if you're pulling a boat or trailer you could stop in with lots of room. We didn't do dessert so I can't speak to that. Will definitely be back to try some other things.

The patio caters to those golfing and is open to the public. They have an indoor dining restaurant along with two very large outdoor covered patios. They also have an outdoor pizza oven. We were seated at one of the long tables outside which was perfect for your group. It is a fairly typical menu and I opted for the burger (two patties) with fries. The presentation was quite good and I liked that the burgers had a nice sear on the patties. There was no issue with the service and our server was pleasant. My only criticism is that they did not have an IPA on tap, which is a shame with so many local craft breweries in the area. It was a positive dining experience and happy to recommend White Squirrel if in Grand Bend and want a nice meal in a beautiful setting.

I spent three nights in the hotel (which was very nice) in a room with a deck overlooking the golf course--so did enjoy the game vicariously. I ate at two of the three restaurants and attended a wedding and reception. Food was excellent at both restaurants and at the reception. At Emilio's Prime I enjoyed a wonderful beet/field green/goat cheese salad and a very tasty filet mignon Oscar. The crab appeared to have been sautéed instead of just boiled which added another dimension of flavor. The wine list was quite extensive and offered wines at a variety of price levels. They served the sorbet with champagne which I'd never experienced before. I took my yummy lemon meringue pie back to my room. I also ate twice at The Tin Cup where I had a chicken sandwich with a nice rosemary mayo and a Wagyu burger--both were excellent. The buffet at the reception was also very tasty as well as piping hot, nicely presented and never empty. Most impressive throughout my stay was the outstanding service--from the front desk staff to the organizers, servers and bartenders at the restaurants, wedding and reception. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional. The bartenders who served me lunch also served drinks at the reception and were delightful young women (their names escape me). Heather in The Tin Cup was very nice, friendly and provided more excellent service. Bonus--while having dinner at Emilio's, I met the man (Michael McMath) who painted the murals throughout the facility. I'm visiting from out of state but if I have the occasion to return to the area will plan to stay and/or eat here again.

Disappointed I can't afford to pay these astronomical prices for basically a decent public course that takes a long time to play and greens and tee boxes that are slightly above average. I'm sure they will keep getting the business because it's the only course in the area, but pricing out the regulars is a bummer.
