Challenging par threes. Crossing the river ravine six times. The old railroad boxcar repurposed as a bridge is cool. Sand traps, greens and fairways were in very good condition. The grounds crew is trying. There has been improvement since earlier folks dismissed the conditions. Next to the clubhouse is the Splitfire BBQ which I love and have traveled to solely to eat and sit at a picnic table and enjoy the view.

This review is strictly for the banquet part of the course…read more I was invited to the wedding of one of my teachers and both the wedding and reception were hosted here. I think that makes it pretty convenient for guests. The wedding was held outside in the gazebo area overlooking the course. It was the most perfect day to get married. After the wedding, we enjoyed cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres. The inside venue is HUGE! I loved the large windows overlooking the course and watching the sunset on the horizon. The pallet of color racing across the June sky was spectacular. The food was served family style and trust me there was plenty to go around. My favorite was the pasta and my friend loved the scalloped potatoes. They also offered a salad, beef, and a chicken dish. Everything was delicious. It was so much fun hanging out with my work crew. Everyone is enjoying some down time and this celebration was exactly what we needed. A few of the guys enjoyed a cigar on the outside balcony overlooking the course, while the rest of us ladies....got busy on the dance floor! Of course, my date and I were able to find some quiet time to sneak away and enjoy the views of the starlit night. It was a most perfect night and I would highly recommend this spot for future events.

It's the nicest, most well kept miniature golf course we've been to. It's clean and neat and most of all, fun for any age! Some holes are a bit challenging but that's a good thing, while others are easy but not too easy. It's a good mix of challenges! Every twist and turn of the course keeps you guessing as to what the next hole will be like. There are mini fishing nets for when your putt ends up in the water and yes we did use them a few times! We didn't use the driving range, but it looks super nice and very well kept as well! There were multiple sizes of putters and golf balls for the family to choose from so they definitely make sure all ages are taken care of. There are a few covered picnic tables to rest and enjoy a delicious and refreshing ice cream fresh out of the bin located inside the clubhouse. With plenty of parking and nice views, it's just an overall nice place to have fun! I have bought clothes, clubs, and my rangefinder from here. They were able to price match the rangefinder as they have a Low Price Guarantee. One unique thing they do is they will include some golf accessories with their branding with every order which I find to be pretty cool. I have gotten tees, a poker chip ball marker, an orange sharpie, and a golf ball line marker. I hope to be able to visit in person one day!

I ordered 3 custom wedges from Carl's Golfland with clearly listed specs in the notes. I even…read moreordered them knowing they were on backorder, so I was already being patient. What I didn't expect was having to follow up just to let them know the clubs came wrong. Their fix? Send me two more wedges... still wrong. From there it turned into a complete mess. THREE different employees got involved, and somehow each handoff made things worse. One reorders, another takes over with zero context, clearly never read the emails or documentation I already sent, and just keeps things moving knowing the clubs were already wrong. No communication, no ownership--just a cycle of confusion. Then they tell me to measure the clubs myself. That's where it really went downhill. I'm paying for custom-built clubs, and now I'm doing their quality control? So I did. I confirmed specs with TaylorMade and even paid a shop to measure everything. Taylor made even said they ordered them wrong. Specs should be true online even if it's a custom standard stock spec. While they said they talked with them. Not a single club was correct. After all that, the manager's solution is basically: send them back. No urgency. No accountability. No real apology. They tell me on the phone they have good customer relationship with TaylorMade. So what was hard to get it right the second time around. Here's what their mistake cost me: * 2 months of credit card interest * Gas running around fixing quality control their problem * Paying out of pocket to verify specs * Hours of wasted time I ordered these ahead of an international trip so I could practice. Now I have no time left and nothing usable because they couldn't get a basic order right. Meanwhile, I placed a similar order through PGA Tour Superstore--they got it right the first time and shipped fast. That's how it's supposed to work. So I can't blame TaylorMade because seems like they are doing their job right. If they get the order right with pga superstore and shipped it to me from their manufacturing facility. Seems like they're not the problem. And just to top it off--I also ordered an iron set from Carl's a while back. At this point, I'll probably have to get those checked too, because based on this experience, I wouldn't be surprised if they messed that up as well. Bottom line: If you're ordering anything custom, avoid Carl's Golfland. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. Not worth talking to people who can't even do their job ordering without cross referencing manufacture specs. Like McDonald's gets my order partially correct. Not completely wrong. But still have the time to take care of customer's complaint. So who knows when my refund will be issued with compensation. This company just another company willing to take peoples money. We all know golf profit margins around 20-40%. I would never walk in there store or facility. Or even buy online from them again.

I have purchased many things over the years from this store, but not anymore. As I was looking through the golf balls for this box of yellow Pro V1s, I accidentally dropped a box on the floor and it opened. As I'm picking them up, I hear "How are we doing over by the Pro V1s?" I looked up and it was an employee racing over to me, and his only question was "are you trying to move balls around to take all same number balls in one box?" to which I told him that I dropped the box & was just picking them back up and that I was looking for the one box of Yellow ones and that he shouldn't accuse me of something I wasn't doing. I then gave him another chance to be polite and change his questioning to something helpful. So I again asked him, "Are you accusing me of trying to take all same number balls in one package?" to which he chose to double down on his accusation of me and replied "a lot of people do it so". Of course, while he's being loud and accusing me, I have other customers staring at us and walking away from the area as the employee is making me look like a thief. It was at this point I decided I was no longer buying anything at this store, so I handed him the socks I was going to purchase and told him I do come in quite often & purchase a good amount from this store, but I will not be back because of him. The employee was STEVE. From now on, I can shop for any of my golf equipment at Carls Golfland or the HUGE brand new PGA Tour Superstore in Novi Michigan.

So, this is a long one. I want to put on blast and call out these two rip-off…read morecompanies/individuals, Great Lakes Pools and Play it Again Sports particularly the Diving business. In the spring of 2020, I had Great lakes pools redo my partial inground pool with a new liner, install a new light, 3 new jets, new skimmer and new 150'+ of piping for around $7000. The issues started right away. They removed my old liner and left the pool bottom, which is sand exposed to the elements, particularly rain, this caused the sloped areas to funnel and create huge lesions in the sand, which they did not fix before installing the liner. Along with that, they never even smoothed out the boot marks from them installing the liner as they went. When I started to fill the pool, you could see boot imprints all along the bottom. They did come back and fix that after much discussion but did not fix the sand where the water had eroded it so my pool bottom, mostly the sloped areas have huge divots multiple inches deep. I got tired of arguing with them to fix it and left it alone, first mistake. They even left glue on the liner where they had used duct tape and told me to get goo gone to remove it myself. The first winter they closed my pool and plugged my skimmer, this caused it to fill will water, freeze, and split, the line off the skimmer is disconnected and allows draining, so there is no need to plug it. I called in the spring when I found the leak after my pool wouldn't fill, they came and put putty on the skimmer instead of replacing it, saying I would need to pay $500 to do so when it was their techs that incorrectly closed my pool. Over the winter of 2022/23 the water drained out of my pool from a leak somewhere. I had great lakes look for a leak, they couldn't find it. And again, they had plugged my skimmer after talking to the techs and telling them not to. They directed me to Kevin at Play it Again Sports at the time to come and dive the pool once I filled it up to look for the leak. They said if it was a warranty job as the liner was still under warranty they would pay him. He was to take pictures of the leak and get them to me. He found the leak or 2 in a location near the seam, didn't take any pictures to show me what caused the leak, said it wasn't warranty and I had to pay him $200. From that point on my pool did not retain water still. I was losing 1/2" per day. I called Kevin back and asked if he could look at it again, he said it would be another $200 to do so, he said with confidence that there were no other leaks in the pool, he also said that his patches never leak when I asked if maybe it was a patch problem. Fed up with dealing with both of these companies it was nearing the end of the pool season and I would just add water every couple days until closing, so my water bill was ridiculous for the remainder of the season and my natural gas from trying to keep this pool heated with all the cold water addition. This brings me to this year; I closed the pool myself last year because good help is hard to pay for, apparently, I drained the water below my lowest jet and left that line open for overflow. The water level dropped again to the exact level as before and where the patches are. Once I removed the cover this spring, I found the patches had areas where they became disbonded and was the obvious source of the leak. I contacted Kevin to come and fix the patches he installed last year, obviously incorrectly, he just said "you want us to warranty the patches" I said yes, he said "we don't do that" so you don't warranty your work even when you do it wrong, wanted to charge me another $200 to put a $10 patch on the pool. You can guess where that went. Currently ordered a patch kit to do it myself and looking into lawyers (if anyone knows a good one let me know) to take this matter to small claims on both accounts as I want my skimmer replaced, entire liner replaced, and pool bottom fixed. It should be new as the only thing I didn't replace is the frame, and I've had nothing but issues every year since. DO yourself a favor and avoid these two rip off businesses and pay more if you have to I know I would like to go back and do so.
