Great store with nice staff, the only problem is that some of the used gear is slightly overpriced

The service was terrible. I went in there ready to buy a full set of irons but when i was helped to try 3 different sets the worker walked away leaving me at the simulator and never came back. I had questions and wanted to try another set but at that point i just left. I'm going to carls right now, hopefully they are more interested in my money. read more

I have read a few of the reviews that I find really different from my opinion, therefore, I would like to share my review.I was looking for new irons and went to Golf Galaxy in Clinton Township and met a great guyames spent about 30 minutes fitting me with all the different manufacturers until we decided to go with Taylor Made irons. About a year and half later my five iron came loose at the shaft, somI took it back and Golf Galaxy called TM and they sent me a brand new set of Sim2 irons, free of charge. A buddy of mine bought his TM irons at Carl's Golfland, had the same issue but was told to buy new shafts by Carl's. I will stick with Golf Galaxy because of customer service. I went to get my driver re-shafted and came a little before closing. After chatting with Mike about what I wanted, I hit a few swings, he analyzed, then made his suggestions. You could tell from the questions and explanations given that he's been doing this for a long time. After setting up my driver, him and his co-worker, Wesley, examined the rest of the clubs in my bag and made adjustments to them as well, and even threw in some tips. My putter was refitted as well and it feels amazing! They are both incredibly knowledgeable and I was happy to have them help me out. Come see Mike or Wesley and you won't be disappointed! Side note- I didn't miss a single fairway when I played yesterday. My clubs feel amazing! read more

They have terrible customer service. I went in to return an item when I walked up to the register the associate walked away and went and talked to one of his buddies at the door. He came back started the return the whole time talking to the other employees I asked him a question and he totally ignored me handed me my receipt and walk back started talking to the other employees. read more

Went there to give them a second chance to show me they are not a bunch a pretentious wanna be golfers and no one wanted to help me. I was looking for Callaway hybrid and they had one of two clubs I wanted. No desire to check Inventory or go out of way. Went back to Dick's and they had both clubs and went above and beyond. Took price stickers off and treated me like a guy spending $300 should. Prediction:. Golf Galaxy goes the way of dodo bird unless they get some energy in that place. read more

The absolute worst customer service. My husband and I have gone in a couple of times. Today upon his visit he was trying two different clubs. The machine that analyzes your swing was down but he asked a younger sales associate if it would be ok to try them out. That sales associate said sure and helped him before walking away and saying he would be back to check on him. The store was very busy. All of this was fine and then three swings in an older man who works there walked over with a couple and started to get in my husband's face saying "You can't be doing this!" And "This costs a fee to do!" What does? The machine that analyzes the swing was down. He was told by and set up by another associate. He further went on to tell my husband that he needed the space for HIS customers. My husband reiterated that he was being helped and that he was only three swings in. To which the older associate said "Well we are busy so you need to be done." Just like that my husband was done. He set the clubs down and stormed out. Not only did this associate cost another employee a sale he cost the store a sale as well as any future sales. We will gladly travel out to Carl's moving forward. read more

Walked in and out trying to find a salesperson, finally after going to the front desk I received one. At first he had set me up and told me to take a few shots. He had left and did not come back until I had shot 10 or so balls. He comes back and looks at the simulator results. After not having watched me tells me to go and practice a couple times before coming back. I was livid and could not believe it. Don't even bother. Walked around the club section for 25 minutes and didn't even get acknowledged by anyone, not even a hello. And when we tried to get help we got ignored by 2 sales people. On a non-busy day, this is unacceptable service. When walking out, still no acknowledgement and 3 sales people including the manager were helping one guest looking at shirts and hanging out by the checkout. Sad excuse for a store to have such inattentive employees who don't care. read more

They really deserve 2.5 stars since their service is so 50/50... I've spent several thousand dollars here throughout the years as a golfer and also as referrals to friends and co workers for new clubs. In short, if you dream of a bi polar service while spending all of your hard earned money on a hobby then this is the place to go. You won't be greeted at the door and you won't be able to receive any help from the 10 employees that walk past you without acknowledging your existence. You will however find that one maybe two employees that really want to help you find what you want, but that's about as far as it will go. My money will be better spent at Carl's Golf land from here on out. Be ready for the roller coaster of events you are going to face in this over priced, snobby golf shop. read more

For Women, Golfsmith is better than a bunch of Dicks !! You could add up a few Dick's Sporting Goods and not find the Golf equipment and clothes for women that Golfsmith offers. So much more club selection, wider variety of clothes, balls and little things like hat marker clips, club covers, towels and girlie odds and ends. My husband and I went in here on a very non-busy week night, ready, willing and able to buy myself a full brand new set of clubs and bag. The service we received was absolutely the bare minimum. We felt like we were intruding on the staff's social time. We looked at a couple different clubs with not one suggestion by the staff. He did set us up in a simulator and answered one question we had (hence the one star, if not for that I'd have given zero stars) and then was not to be seen again. I hit a few different clubs, we were there a while and left without another comment from any staff. We went elsewhere and bought a full set of Callaway clubs and bag as well as a nice pair of Nike shoes. We have no plans to return to Golf Galaxy which is a shame as it's the closest golf store to us. read more

Personally, I have always been someone who likes to purchase new clubs based off of professional recommendations. The other day, I stumbled upon a "what's in the bag" commercial (sponsored by Golf Galaxy) and Brandt Snedeker shot 59 with Bridgestone Irons. I stopped by Golf Galaxy to pick up a Bridgestone driver and was told that they do not carry Bridgestone Clubs. Mike kindly told me to check Carl's for the clubs that I'm looking for, however, I'm extremely disappointed that this golf store doesn't carry Bridgeston, Srixon OR Wilson clubs. How does a golf store sponsor a commercial promoting products that they don't even carry??? I want Golfsmith back!!! read more

I went there to try out some hybrids with the intent to purchase. I have been using a clone of the Ping G20, so I asked for a demo G20 to compare with a TMAG RBZ 2 that I wanted to buy because it was on sale. After trying them both for awhile, I asked about the yardage differences. Dan fired up the Foresight launch monitor and asked me to hit a few balls with both clubs. After some adjustments in ball position and stance based on Dan's advice, I noticed a big difference in distance, spin, and ball height. Overall, I felt this was worthwhile and a great purchasing experience. Depending on who is working there at the time, they may or may not be forthcoming with assistance or the use of the Foresight launch monitor. I recommend doing a lot of research online as GolfWRX and MyGolfSpy do quite a few reviews using quantitative data on launch monitors, and check out Golfsmith only when there is a sale on the products you want. Their selection of clubs in-store isn't the best, so if you want to try before you buy, Carl's Golfland is a better place to visit. read more

I drove all the way out today to purchase a new set of irons/clubs...I was let down big time! I found a few sets I was interested in, and it took forever for them to figure out how to boot up the swing analyzer, which in the end, didn't tell me much. The poor salesman was obviously new and didn't know how to turn it on, and the manager couldn't be bother to come over to turn it on. She finally came over twice and you could see the disgust on her face! I hit a few irons, and fell in love with a set, it was a Taylor Made set from 2016. They were out of stock of the set with the Hybrids....They were going to let me walk, but me bringing experienced in sales...I had to inquire about the 2017's and maybe work out a deal! Nope out of stock also! All this wasted time with this new salesman looking in the back room. I'm sure if they wanted a deal they could of made something work!!! But no! They told me to go order them online. Well I drove from a Grosse Pointe, with 1,000.00 cash in my pocket. If I wanted to shop online, I would of shopped online. Well thank you for fitting me for my clubs and letting me use your clubs to try out. I know which clubs I will be purchasing...but from somebody else! I do not recommend this store at all. Big let down. Management needs to get involved and train train train! You know if you guys would of tried I would of took the set of irons, and then the used hybrids...Come on! ABC! Went in with the intentions of buying a new driver (around $500). Had to search the store for an associate even though it was dead in there. Found a man named Bill and he set me up in the simulator and then left. Came back about fifteen minutes later and switched a club head around. Left again. Came back after a few shots and I asked to see what my spin numbers were with the clubs, he clicked on the screen didn't say a word, no help, no advice, never scrolled through the shots for me. I was definitely intruding on his time. After I told him that I was done, he never said a word, no "hey did you like one", "I can show you where those are at," he just walked away looking at his phone. So I went over to the drivers and I can hear him from half way across the store saying "the one you hit is in there." Needless to say I left without buying a new club. You lost a sale Bill, be a little more helpful to your customers. Save yourself the haste and go to Carl's! read more
