There really was not much of a decision based on our history with Blaine. We were not disappointed. Remodeling a kitchen is much different than remodeling a bathroom - many more moving parts and design decisions. The kitchen remodel highlighted the best trait about Blaine. You can discuss design alternatives throughout the process. He listens and provides the pros and cons. He will go out of this way to ensure you are happy with the result. The name Fine Line Constructions speaks for itself. Blaine's attention to detail is amazing. He will spot imperfections and fix them before you even notice the problem. And on those rare occasions when you are not 100 percent pleased with the result, Blaine will address the issue without question. I am not sure what our next remodeling project will be, but when hiring a General Contractor our first choice will be Fine Line Construction.

Over the past year and a half they've masterfully completed several jobs for us, and we have them on the books for several more. They have dug out and installed french drains with sump pumps as well as repaired and painted walls, ceilings, and brickwork. All of these things were done expertly. But the most significant work they've done was to create, from the ground up, an addition to our house. We call it an addition, a sunroom, our new "hang out all day" room. A 14x16 vaulted ceiling with support beam masterpiece, the casement windows are all handmade with the finest craftsmanship and care. They spent hours, days and weeks measuring, sanding, staining, painting, glueing, nailing, and appraising. Perfection was the goal and it was accomplished over and over again. We were especially appreciative of the creativity and thoughtfulness with design and vision: Blaine especially was adept at providing the many options involved in all aspects of the job to choose from - such as tile material and color to stain shades - and then, when asked, gave his highly informed and relevant ideas and opinions. And when supplier issues and delays occurred as they always seem to these days they were undeterred and never rushed nor took shortcuts. They were always punctual, courteous, and up front with all details and accounting. Our cost overages were insignificant. We couldn't be happier with them and their work, and the end result was well beyond what we expected.

Had to actually get back in touch with one of the contractors because he had forgotten to send me the estimate for the project. Got in touch with W & A construction, William P. showed up on time to have a look at the repairs that needed to be done, sent me an estimate in a timely manner. William and his crew showed up on time to start with the project, got to work right away and I was very happy with the results and the price, repairs looked better than brand new. I do recommend W & A construction, very professional business, will call them again in the future.

Lane's provided the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They arrived promptly on a…read moreweekend evening service call and I paid a reasonable bill for a leaky toilet repair; so far so good. I thought the job was done, but the leak returned a week later. Lane's then told me the subfloor was bad and gave a vague thousand-dollar estimate to fix it. I repaired the leak myself and found that Lane's had done a very amateur job. I complained and Lane's responded with sarcasm and blamed the toilet and the floor, promising that the leak would return. Many years later my DIY replacement of a wax ring is still holding up; Lane's is no longer responding to me. I had a couple less than great experience's with Lane's Home Improvement. The first time I called…read morethem was to fix a leaky skylight. They came quickly, repaired the leak, and it has yet to leak again. After that good experience, things went downhill. I called them a couple months later to fix a ceiling joist that had rotted. They came and sistered a 2x6 and scrap 2x4s (ran out of 2x6s) to secure the rotted joist. I thought that using 2x4s instead of going to get another 2x6 was sloppy, especially since it took all of 15 minutes and cost over $500. The big project I had them do was painting my metal roof. I chose Lane's Home Improvement because they were significantly cheaper than the other bids I received. I guess you get what you pay for. They were unable to match the color (they started with a bright kelly green), didn't prime the rust spots as discussed and only applied a single coat (2 were included in the quote). They lied and said they applied 2 coats, and only after I told them my wife was working from home and saw them, did they admit to only applying 1 coat. They then said applying a 2nd coat would void the warranty because in the past, they were unable to apply additional coats without the first coat peeling up. This was in March, and in May, the paint that they did apply started to peel. Now in August, it looks almost as bad as it did before they started. I have requested a refund, but my emails have been ignored, as have the complaints to the BBB. I would use caution if you use Lane's Home Improvement.
