Highlights/Lowlights…read more 1. Friendly Service 2. Great Wine 3. Light Snacks Available I visited AppleWorks for the first time this afternoon and loved it! There is ample parking on site making this winery very accessible. We were treated by the friendly bartender who I believe is the owner. She explained their wines to us in just enough detail and walked us through how to make selections for a flight. I did the red flight and you got 4 wine samples for $12. Super affordable! We also ordered a large cheeseboard which was more than enough for two. There are pizzas and soft pretzels available at night on the weekends but since we were here on a Friday afternoon they weren't serving those yet. A lot of Wisconsin wineries do really well with sweet wines but don't have a large dry offering. My flight of 4 red wines was perfectly dry! We really enjoyed our time and can't wait to come back and try what looked like a really nice outdoor are when the weather gets warmer.

White wine tasting is $9 and red tastings are $12, for 4 samples of each. Bottles tend to run $15-$20 for whites, mid $30s for reds, and $45-50s for reserve bottles. The proprietors are friendly and knowledgeable. Though adding a pallet cleanser of some crackers or even water would be an improvement for tastings.

My family and I have stayed here many times over the years, but, after my most recent experience,…read moreI/we will never stay here again. Much of the hotel is worn, tired, looking, and in need of a deep cleaning. The bedding on one of the beds was dirty. The bathroom sink drained so slowly I could only run the water for 30 seconds at a time to keep it from overflowing. The complementary make up remover wipes had "turned," and were discolored and less than pleasant smelling when removed from their packaging. The in-room air conditioning unit was too loud to accommodate sleep- - 64.7 dB-- and produced a less than pleasant smell. When I turned it off (in July), the intermittent snoring-like sound of the refrigerator woke me up repeatedly throughout the night. The wall mounted shampoo was beyond empty (a disappointing discovery during my shower). There was no counter space available in the bathroom (perhaps because I was given an accessible room, but I'm not sure), so getting ready in the morning consisted of multiple trips the dresser/desk back to the bathroom and in needing to repurpose the sink as a bathroom counter. When I retrieved something that inadvertently fell from the sink to the bathroom floor, I found a pile of debris that had been pushed to the corner (out of sight) versus cleaned. I couldn't even imagine eating breakfast where food preparation and presentation were likely in spaces that were just as dirty. I paid more than $300 for my two night stay and, honestly, would not have stayed here for even $30, given my really disappointing experience.

I know this may sound like a minor detail, but when you travel for work as much as I do, a little fresh air in your hotel room goes a long way! Everything was clean and tidy, including the pool area, which I did not use this trip. The rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave, which again, are helpful to those of us who live out of suitcases on occasion. Also, the hotel was quiet and therefor it was easy to get some rest. It will be my new go-to hotel in the Milwaukee area for work.

Craig had a great read of the room. I made a request during dancing and within seconds Craig was able to create a mash-up. Throughout the night they checked in with me and wanted to ensure that all songs I wanted to hear were played. Weeks before the wedding, we meet virtually two different times to go over my vision, finalize the reception timeline, and announcements to make. I first saw All-Star Music at a wedding I went to and now one of my bridesmaids booked him for her wedding!

Craig has a website where brides and grooms can log on and create a list of song requests, special introductions, dances - you name it. He called to check in with me about a week before the wedding and asked really thoughtful questions, things I hadn't even considered. And then, the night of... He was an adorable emcee, very enthusiastic and great with keeping us on track. He actually started earlier than we requested when the ceremony turned out to be shorter than expected. And once it was time to boogie, he kept the dance floor packed for four solid hours. He never went for the cliche, current pop sensation of the moment, he picked a lot of classics that had everyone on their feet. And he continued to check in with me, even making sure that one slightly inappropriate song request was okay with me. We had people dancing all the way up until the very last song. PLEASE hire this man. You won't regret it. Thanks, Craig!!!!

You know I love a good hidden gem…read more Old Germantown is just that. We were in the general area-ish doing some shopping and wanted to get some pizza for takeout some place closeby to enjoy at home while watching the Olympics (because it's in Italy--so pizza seemed like just the thing). A search on Yelp brought up this place as somewhat closeby. It was after dark when we went in search of it. We drove down a rural road past what appeared to be a driveway that led to a farm. This can't be it. We tried again. Navigation brought us to the same driveway. My husband was ready to give up. I decided to call the business. A kindly gentleman answered and said--yep! It will look like you're driving to a farm but we're here! As we got closer to the end of the drive we saw a bustling parking area. While it might be hard to find--the people have found it. And, so did we. We entered to find beer hall vibes with tons of communal seating. We asked if we could order to go which they were more than willing to accommodate. We found a couple bar stools at their bar, ordered our salads and pizza, and then enjoyed a couple of stout beers while we waited. The beers, salad, and the pizza straight from their wood fired pizza oven were all fantastic. We got one of their specialty pizzas which was a white pie that comes with ricotta (as well as mozz) mushrooms, and basil on a crust that has just the right amount of chewiness and char. Lovely! The folks working here were above-and-beyond friendly. And, one told us that they have a large outdoor patio during pleasant months. We will definitely be back during the pleasant months. And, let's be real--during the less than pleasant months as well. Get to it!

Upon driving in there is a building for the restaurant along with nice outdoor seating, and area for kids to play! We went in mid May on a sunny but cool evening. The kids loved having the sand area and toys to play with while waiting for dinner to arrive. They have a good menu, but there seemed to be a decent amount of items unavailable especially the sausages my friends wanted to try. We ended up with the spring pizza, sassy pig, a plain cheese, and then a three combo of sausages. I thought the pizza was all good, not the best I've ever had but solid. The spring pizza was my favorite. The sassy pig was very unique but good! Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sausages but others in my group liked them. We upgraded that to include fries and there was only a very small amount. We will definitely be back, seems like a great spot for groups!
