They moved quickly to start and complete the repair which involved removing large boulders and other fill material, installing new drain pipe, and properly backfilling and grading. We hired Cornerstone Construction and Remodeling to build a mudroom on the front of the house and…read moreto finish the attic. I will say Stephen Hale is an excellent salesman. Promises to have excellent work and that the work will be done correctly. However, the workmanship overall is not good, several issues had to be resolved. Stephen (if he comes) shows up on site for maybe 30 mins at the beginning of the day. Stephen doesn't check any of the work to ensure its up to code or if he does, he doesn't know the code and will cause rework later. I requested all work to be permitted at the beginning of the project. After questioning when the inspector was coming, his workers said Stephen was dealing with that. Stephen never filed for the permitting until I told him it had to be done. Work had to be paused for a month while waiting for inspector to come to the house. Cracks in grout from install after 2 months. I found out there was no Schluter or hardy board under the tile and it was put directly onto plywood. After 3 attempts to repair by just adding more grout into the cracks and caulking into the grout, I complained enough that he replaced it with LVP. They poured a concrete pad right before a frost and mounted the split unit condenser on it 2 days after pouring. I asked Stephen to fix this and his response was "it's a useable pad". I was so feed up with the excuses and the terrible workmanship that I didn't even want him to come back. Several other items had to be fixed, mounting the split units within 2 inches from the ceiling, not cleaning the walls before painting, stripped screws, and overall just terrible finishing work. The other issue I had was that they used my tools and shop vac while working on the projects without consent. Completely unprofessional. Stephen Hale offers a good price but the headaches and numerous failed inspections were a nightmare. Spend a little more and avoid the problems.

The movers removed the feet and bottom wooden piece, without asking, then walked away without putting it back together. Colin came, took the feet and wood, rebuilt the broken feet, removed wood glue from many years past and rebuilt the cabinet. Once the feet were cleaned up and reattached the bottom wood piece, he came back and reattached everything to the china cabinet. It is now more solid than it had been in over fifty years. This piece has been in our family for three generations and I am so thrilled to have it back in its full beauty again. (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

Absolutely Terrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs…read more This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a contractor. The drywall work was sloppy and unprofessional--gouges in the joint compound, visible tape, entire sections missed, and thick, uneven corners that ruined the look of our newly remodeled kitchen. I had to point out spots he didn't even tape! He claimed the painter should finish sanding (not true), and lied, saying the primer would hide the flaws (it makes them more visible). Because of his poor work, we had to pay our painters extra to fix what he should have done right. He was also extremely disrespectful. When I pointed out issues, he reacted like a child having a tantrum--aggressively sanding while I stood nearby, covering me in dust. I looked like I was caught outside in the snow. I paid $2,500 for this nightmare and he told me when I was pointing out the "imperfections," that I was "nit-picking." He didn't put down any protection, and thank God we had tarps in place ourselves. But during his tirade, he kicked up the tarp sending more dust everywhere and all over the carpet. He also tried to float his own boat about how everyone says he is so clean all the time. And the most outrageous part of the entire ordeal? He made a blatantly racist remark, saying, "I hate Blacks and Indians." Absolutely disgusting. On top of it, he was referred to us by another contractor who had completed other work on our home. He was awesome and had impeccable workmanship. This sheetrock guy actually said that his work was sloppy! Some way to treat someone that gets you the job. If I could give zero stars, I would.
