Found this whimsical little store in Midtown, Atlanta and I felt like I was home. Yes, I am a giant weird child at heart. This store has something for everyone and the prices are within a range that worked for me. I purchased skull shot glasses and they went perfectly with my eclectic style. The staff was friendly enough and were all busy working unlike most places these days where employees are just on their phones or ignoring the customers. I will definitely be a regular here because I want to feed my inner child. Good Times!!

I have been frequenting Richard's Variety Store since about 2005/2006 (The location on Peachtree). When my mother would have lab work at the hospital I would go for something fun to do. I've purchased some unique things from there now and again. I have since moved to Savannah and haven't been in several years. Well, today my husband had an appointment at Emory and I decided to visit the new location on Piedmont while he was having tests ran. I was immediately happy to see it was much bigger. However, as soon as I walked in I said hello to the man with a white sweater on at the register. He completely ignored me. No big deal...they were never friendly at the other location either. Anyway, I browse around and took some pictures to show my husband the variety they have in the store since he has never been. As soon as I did that, a man in a burgundy sweater followed me around the store and would randomly pop up in the same aisle as me. I thought he was a customer at first, but quickly realized he was an employee. I have never been so uncomfortable. I couldn't even enjoy being in the store. I didn't buy anything and I won't be back. I've never stolen anything and I didn't appreciate being followed around the store as if you thought I was going to. I can promise you, that I don't want any of your dusty merchandise that hasn't changed in the last 20 years. Good riddance.

Coolest place, ever! I'm really sorry that I never discovered their original store in Buckhead, but I definitely plan to make up for lost time at this new location in the Midtown Promenade. I can't think of another place where you can find practical items like pens, picture frames, and party supplies mixed in with fun toys and keepsakes. I had a blast wandering around using the Sarcastic Ball (think Magic 8 Ball for smart asses), reading witty greeting cards, and browsing unique bath items like the "Lookin' Good for Jesus" beauty kit. Great place for fun gifts, household items, children's toys, and party supplies. I can't wait to go back and buy more stuff that I didn't know that I needed.

Uh yeah, I bought one of the strange toys.

Funky little store with a lot of fun gift ideas and Knick knacks. Can easily find stuff you need and plenty of things you didn't need.

If you are anything like me, just walking around this store can fill that happiness of seeing beautiful pieces of the past. I felt like this store just kept going and going, it was huge and jam-packed full of everything you can think of. Furniture, jewelry, books, clothing, statues and small decor, light fixtures, glass pieces, pictures/ prints/ frames, a bunch of christmas items and way more. There was a whole patio area we weren't even able to look at because it was closed. I will say, unfortunately, the prices are pretty insanely steep here. It's definitely a shop where the items are antique and prices more than reflect that. There were things here and there that were more reasonable, but a majority of the items would be ridiculous to purchase unless you have a pretty sumptuous income. I do think there's room to bargain on some items, but as other reviews have noted definitely be aware of pricing if you come in here. But if nothing else it definitely makes for a very entertaining stroll around to see all there is!

But over the last three years it's just turned into a couple of stalls that were worth it while everything else is furniture reupholsteres and over priced furniture and odds and ends. Saw some new dealers with gorgeous stuff, talked to some old regulars. Had a fun day. Atlanta Scott Antique Market has some decent antiques, and some not so decent vendors, but thats the fun of going to these shows. If you know what to look for, you can definitely score a bargain. This is not the Atlanta Antique scene of the 70's-80's-90's anymore, but there are still big high-end dealers who know their stuff! I don't mind the costume jewelry and used hand-bag people setting up a booth. This is the World we live in now. Here's the FACTS about Scotts Antiques..and all you need to know: 1. Wednesday is set-up day for dealers. Lots of early buying and selling goes on among them. Not open to public. 2. Thursday is the BEST day to attend, as dealers have full booths with best items. Designers and serious collectors do their shopping this day. Best day for public to attend. 3. Friday-saturday most likely to be busy with families, dealers probably willing to bargain on Saturday as they all know that SUNDAY is dead. 4. Don't bother coming Sunday unless you get there at 10AM. From 10-12 dealers will bargain do they don't have to load-up those big heavy items. By 2 PM, most dealers are packing up and just want to go home. Not uncommon to see empty booths even though Scotts has a rule about dealers leaving early. I don't think Scotts should charge public entry on Sundays. North Building is higher quality than South Building.. do plan to visit both. They have free shuttle between two locations.

Like most consignment stores, Simple Finds is overwhelming with the amount of inventory they have. It is stacked from entry to exit, from wall to wall and floor to ceiling! They have all the varieties of items you would expect at a consignment store from jewelry, art, furniture, tchotchkes, statues, records, lighting and much more. We like to wander around consignment shops and this area of Chamblee Dunwoody, they are plentiful. So, when we make our trip over this way Simple Finds is always on the list to swing by. We are usually after unique furniture items, and on their good days, Simple Finds has a decent selection from small tables to large cabinets, etc...Outside of the furniture, there is not a lot of items that are eye catching for us here. Service is hit and miss here, never terrible, but also not what I would describe as "friendly" either. Additionally, pricing here is a bit inflated. I get the whole "one persons trash is another persons treasure", but come on... Overall, Simple Finds is a random weekend stop for us on occasion. I will say that visiting here is like visiting a massive neighborhood yard sale, so you get lucky from time to time, but for the most part...it is just a place to browse for us.

However, what makes My Favorite Place different is that they are more flea market than consignment/antique store, and this is something that they fully embrace and own! We have popped into My Favorite Place a couple of times over the years in search of things we never knew we needed. MFP is a treasure trove of used items ranging from trinkets to furniture that are stacked from wall to wall and floor to ceiling, they even have pieces outside lining the sidewalk. To go back to the "flea market" comment, that is truly what the items here are. The store feels like one big yard sale with majority of the items simply being used and old, not really antiques or collectibles. Due to this and the way things are stacked and shelved, a lot of items are pretty beat up. They have a solid selection of furniture pieces, but again they are chipped and worn. If you are after furniture and plan to finish it yourself, then MFP is a solid option for you! Prices are fair and decent for everything in here, even the furniture. The pricing reflects the condition, so again if you are a DIY-er, then you can really find some great deals and good pieces here. Overall, My Favorite Place is a combination of over and underwhelming. Overwhelming in the way of volume of items, haphazard organization and stocking and underwhelming in the condition of items. We pop in when we are in the area, but would not go out of our way to drop by here.
