Every time we're in town we spot to visit this train shop. They have a secret train room where they run model trains. The room is dim light and all the lights on the track light up. It's super cool. Enjoyed our visit to Legacy Station. While their primary focus is on O gauge and Lionel trains, they had a terrific selection of garden rail buildings and all the little things we needed to reassemble our own set, or create a new one. Pricing seems reasonable and the staff are helpful but not clingy. They have a small toy section and Village 56 - all the most current collections. Very nice train hobby store. I'm a rather particular scale modeler so I frequently order from the manufacturer, however I order thru Legacy Station and get a nice discount. When my orders come in, it gives me a great excuse to drive the 50 miles to this store to look around. The store had a good supply of inventory. I needed something specific form Lionel and it was in stock. The salesperson was very helpful making certain that I had what I needed for installation. Basically everything was about 10% off including rolling stock from Lionel. The store ships nationwide so they can likely get whatever you need. read more

Basically a great store for Lionel or the fading away MTH modelers. Poor selection for HO scale and N, even though they have bare shelves for both of those. Brian, husband of the owner is a decent sort, but rarely seen as the store makes most of its money from the backroom internet sales of O scale products. Short on paints, styrene and other basic supplies. The best thing about the store is a gent named Paul who is very knowledgeable and helpful. If not for Paul I would most likely just buy my supplies and equipment from Ebay. Currently they are short on even HO scale flex track, stocking only code 100. But I expect they'll get some code 83 in shortly. Paint supplies are limited, I go to Michaels or Jo Anns for acrylic or oil paints and don't even look to Legacy for that anymore. I have ordered from all the major retailers in the train world. I do not recommend ordering from this store. They are usually on the high end compared with other similar competitors, and communication regarding any problems is poor. Make sure you compare shipping and tax charges as well as price. When taking everything into account they are significantly more in price. read more

Such a great place with a beautiful Dept 56 train display in the back room, filled with Christmas and Halloween Village items. The store itself has the largest offering of Dept 56 items for sale that I have seen anywhere. The young gentleman at the front counter was warm and welcoming and even offered me a complimentary Lionel trains catalog. I will definitely come here again. read more

We needed an activity for our train obsessed toddler while evacuated here from Ida. This place was awesome! So much fun stuff to look at even if you're not a real "collector" and they were so patient and happy to show him their stuff. I went there to check out their Department 56 selection. It was small, but still early in the season to be fully stocked. I was able to score a piece that I didn't think was released and a couple other pieces I wanted to make my collection complete. They even had a good 20% off sale going on. I had been a long time customer and I thought Brian was my friend but after Brian cussed me out and ordered me out of the store I have only been back one time with my Wife as a witness and Brian gave a poor excuse for an apology which we both are certain was NOT SINCERE. This review is for an online purchase made May 10, 2018. One item in the shipment arrived broken. I first contacted Legacy Station about this issue via email on May 17, with no response. On May 23 I phoned the store and left a voice mail with Brian, the owner. Once again after receiving no response, I followed up with another email June 7. I did receive an email reply from Brian June 13, stating a new item would be sent that day. I sent a follow up email July 2, asking for a tracking number. I have not received a response or a replacement item as of July 18. Since it has now been over two months since I initially contacted Legacy Station about the broken item, I cannot recommend them for online ordering. read more

One of the oldest hobby stores in Atlanta that still caters to model railroaders! They mainly carry Lionel and MTH O/O27 but have some HO and G scale as well. They also carry wooden Brio and Thomas trains as well as some unique toys and science kits. They have tons of Department 56 buildings too! This is a great place to bring the kids, there is a huge train layout currently under construction in the back and even trains running along the ceiling, controlled by a big red button your kid can push! Very kid friendly, several wood train display tables for them to play with while you look around. I have been buying trains and getting excellent service from Brian's store for over 20 years. Brian and his wife are friendly and knowledgeable as is Paul. And Barry is the one to see if you need repair. I have found them patient and willing to take time to explain anything about a purchase or a problem with your train or layout. I bought from Legacy Station three or four years ago. I couldn't be more pleased. I searched online, than called Legacy. They were so incredibly helpful. We don't have a train shop in my state, so long distance is all I have. They were patient walking me through things, and when an order went wrong.... they shipped me a new engine ....quick! Tucked away in a secret corner of a Lilburn shopping center you will find a magical spot with model trains, a working jukebox, and every toy and game that you forgot about. Very poor customer service and deceptive / misleading advertising. On 4-22-20 I ordered an MTH townhouse for my model train layout off their website, but the one I received was a totally different color. Brian agreed to exchange it for a different one that he sent me a picture of, but he wanted me to pay the shipping charge to return the bad one. I told Brian that I didn't think I should have to pay for the shipping since the building was misrepresented on their website and it wasn't my fault. After I told Brian that we could let the Better Business Bureau address it, he sent me a return shipping label. After I returned the townhouse to Legacy Station, they refunded me the price of the building instead of exchanging it as agreed upon. I told Brian that since he chose to give me a refund instead of the exchange that I wanted a refund for the original shipping and handling charge of $14.99 that I paid as I didn't get what I paid for. Thereafter, Brian ignored all my emails, so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Atlanta, Georgia. The BBB sent Legacy Station 2 letters about my complaint, but they ignored them as well. The BBB has now given Legacy Station a rating of C+. read more

Legacy Station is the best train store in Georgia and one of the best in the country for sure. Their prices are very competitive and their customer service is outstanding. I always buy with confidence from Legacy because I know they've got my back if something isn't right. They specialize in O gauge trains and are able to get pretty much anything in O that you might need. They've got a large amount of stuff already in stock but if they don't, they are happy to order it for you. Awesome store with a great staff! read more
