One can justify this by saying they've already received their fair share from the original purchaser and why 'double dip?!' Regardless of one's stance, I patronize Betterworld Books for several reasons: *** Clearly, I save money *** Shipping is included in the price of the book. Many of my selections are $3.98. Hard covered, too! *** A portion of their proceeds goes toward world literacy *** I'm a slow reader. While I'm a fan of libraries, I don't necessarily want to rush through books to make the due date. *** It's easy to recycle with Betterworld Books. When I'm done with my selections -- if I haven't passed them on -- I deposit the books in one of the company's bright green bins, planted in parking lots throughout town. Books are rated by condtion, which is sometimes hit or miss. A paperback they considered "good" had loose pages and a crumbling spine. I purchased a crossword puzzle book deemed "very good" where three quarters of the puzzles were already completed! These books should've been chucked upon donation. If you stick to hard covers (which are frequently out-of-circulation library books) and buy your crosswords at Barnes and Noble, you'll likely have no complaints with BetterWorld.

Yes there are still book stores... believe it or not!…read more I like going into a book store. I don't have a lot of time to read these days, work, two kids, baseball, house, school projects, family time... I miss it but I wouldn't give up much of anything I am doing to read on my own. I do however listen to audio books a lot... but I digress. I like going into book stores and just looking at the books! I love reading I just don't have the spare time for it. Every once in a while I like to bring my kids to a book store and let them look, pick out a book they want, or two, and just spend time in the place. Book stores used to be my jam! I have dyslexia and could not read until later in life... but once I could I couldn't get enough. So book stores are a special place to me. There are not many left anymore... so you should stop in and visit one... you might find you like them too. There is just something special about being able to open a book and be transported to a different world! Although Barns and Noble is different then what it used to be... coffee shop, toy section, games, trinkets and such they still have lots of books! This location is well maintained, organized and I could spend hours in here. They have a very wide variety to choose from, kids books, SCARRY books, young adult books, fantasy, historical, etc etc... it is truly well worth the stop. Come to think of it... I think we will go to a book store today!
