Great shop! It seems a bit hidden to me though. I shop in this center a lot (mostly Publix & Jersey Mike's) and it wasn't until I was walking into Jersey Mike's that I noticed the "Comics" sign. Yay! Great little store. I've always known about it but I've never gone until recently. Loads of new issues. Loads of back issues. Lots of toys and figures and stuff. Really good prices too. A little dated (looks like a Blockbuster inside) but it's clean and smells like comics. It's what you want in a comic shop, so I enjoyed it. In the end, I ended up some great back-issues I've been looking for for a long time. But... they had no signs enforcing masks that I could find, or any limits on the number of people allowed in. The shop is small, so that sucks and it made me nervous. The guy had no mask on either. He never put one on once and I was there for a bit browsing. Nice guy though. read more

Really needed to update my review! Great Escapes really has grown on me and it's from a combination of things... 1st the Owner really tries to go out of his way to accommodate any of your collecting needs and has made several suggestions that now I do value some of his insight. Additionally I've gone through other local stores... and they've left a lot to be desired. Steel collectibles is garbage unless you like toys!teahouse crams the comic onto tiny closetmaid shelving bending every collectible comic in the process and its so hot inside the books are molding as you're thumbing through. I love going to comic books stores, but the cashier working here seemed like he hated his job... Aww poor guy surrounded by games and comics and manga... Seriously dude... Well maybe he was having a bad day or whatever, because when I asked him do they buy manga and he said No... then proceeded to say they don't even really sell manga unless it's the super popular series that has a show on tv... I said no more and was ready to exit the store. The shop is cool and all, had plenty of comics to look through, and is easy to find in the same shopping center as the Publix. There's plenty of parking and the shop has something for all geeky fans including a decent manga section, bigger than ones most comic book stores have. But still it was a rather curious thing to say to a customer because as it so happens I buy manga that isn't super popular and doesn't have shows on tv. And I have a crap load of manga... But he was kinda off putting and I don't know if I'll return because even my friend said he must hate his job when we were leaving the store, so instead of 2 fans walking out of Great Escape comics, there were definitely 2 mehs walking out of there. But my love of comic book stores can outweigh a grumpy cashier, so I'll probably give the shop another chance, but hopefully there'll be some better customer service next time. read more

When I was an XXL nerd boy who spent all of his money on baseball cards and comics, this was my favorite place to go. They have a long wall of new releases and a large section of back issues, priced pretty fairly by the Wizard guide. I love that the comic book price guide is called Wizard. I used to subscribe to that thing. Part of me still wishes I did. They feature a subscription program here in which they'll automatically take the new issues you want when they arrive and put them in a special chain-mail drawer so that no other piggies will rumple the precious pages before you slip it into the mylar bag and never look at it again. I like when dudes buy two copies of a comic: one for reading, one for preservation. That's real. In addition to comics, they also carry everything your pig heart could desire in the way of roleplaying accessories. I bought tons of Magic cards here. They also have those little figurines you can paint and get your ass kicked for getting caught with in your locker. The realest me still loves this stuff and I am not ashamed. read more

My husband and I walked in here this past weekend and the only worker there greeted us happily. My husband was looking for specific items and asked the worker there for help. This is where my review turns unfavorable. Every single question my husband asked the worker had a huff or puff before leading him to the section. He only had 3 questions total but you would have thought we asked for the moon. The only reason we stayed was because they had a discount section and many items were found there for 1-2 dollars. Overall we spent close to $100 there and we won't be coming back. If it were up to me I'd have left and not bought a thing but my husband was finding items he really liked that we had not seen elsewhere. read more

I've been checking around the area and to my surprise there is a little comic book shop tucked behind Soba and beside Kroger. I would have missed it were it not for the COMICS sign, but parking is ample and the interior is spacious. Now, I am not much of a comics reader/collector, but my friend is and since his birthday was coming up I did step in just to peruse the selections. What I saw were comics, cards, manga, a very small selection of games, figurines, and some posters. I would probably not recommend buying games here because the selection is fairly small. So really, if you love comics or the more traditional rpg games (I saw a huge magic selection and I think some of DnD too), by all means flock here and let out the real you. The owner is very sincere and has probably seen more inner nerd gushes than you will ever be comfortable admitting how many times you have done it yourself. read more

Good shop, good selection of back issues, prices are pretty fair. Space is kind of tight, so if the store is busy, you might find yourself claustrophobic very quick. As a few other reviewers have noted, "Angry Comic Book Guy" (you'll know him when you interact with him), as I've come to call him, leaves an impression, and not a good one. Each time I've visited this store, and he's working, he's always bothered by any inquiries that people have of him. He often seems agitated at simply being alive. Too bad. Customer service is a real thing, and I will only return to this shop when they have banner sales. read more

My son and were looking for the Star Wars Destiny card game. After looking and calling around other shops in Fulton County and not having any luck, we discovered Great Escape. Drove to Marietta and found the shop. They did indeed hold 5 packs for us. We couldn't resist getting more and bought the remainder of the box. Young woman that waited on us was friendly, helpful and gave us a discount as all games were on sale. We definitely came away with a positive experience! Found out after playing the game, another series of cards exists. Called the folks at Great Escape. They made us aware the series, Awakenings, for Star Wars Destiny. They noted that they have the booster packs on order and they are due in or around the middle of June, 2017. Now that is what I call customer service! Can't wait to go back to Great Escape in mid June for the new cards. Continued Positive Experience and it has been 3 weeks since we were at Great Escape! read more

My favorite comic shop in Georgia. The selection is great and the staff is always happy to make a recommendation or order that special item. Great selection of all ages material here for the kids (in age and in heart). Nice selection of Manga. Great role-playing section as well. Highly recommend if you are in the area to stop in and recapture some of that childhood magic we seem to lose as we get older. read more

I've given this shop three tries. Customer service just doesn't seem to exist in this place. The last time, I wasn't even acknowledged at all. No "Hi! What brings you in today?" or "Welcome!" or anything. I waited 30 minutes, and I got nothing. The clerk was working close to where I wanted to browse and asked if I could peek in for a second and he made it seem that I was an inconvenience! Oh, sorry sir. I'm just interested n making your business some money. I guess you're not interested in that at all... How is this place even still in business with this terrible service?! The first time I visited this shop, I had such a bad experience that I didn't go back for two years. The second visit was no better. I am new to comics and both times I asked for help (and didn't exactly know what I was talking about) the employee was rude and exasperated that I didn't really know what I was looking for. I was given a hard time for what I was buying, and that I wasn't buying enough. And when I told him a few things I was interested in because he was trying to give me recommendations, he rolled his eyes and was telling me that I should like different things. It's uncomfortable enough to be the only girl in a comic store full of dudes without having to be uncomfortable about your limited knowledge of the industry. I was an avid collector up until 1993. I have started back slowly into the hobby. I am also introducing my kids to the hobby. My son and I have been going around Atlanta visiting all of the comic book shops that remain. We came across this one this last week. I have to say out of the dozen or so stores we have visited this one was the most appealing. This store is extremely neat , clean and organized. They have a huge selection of current books. They also have a really good selection of variant covers, which is currently the rage. They have a decent size back list section which is very organized. This store does sell gaming materials but has dedicated itself to comic books. You will not find half of the store set up for active games. This store is easily an hour from my house. However I will drive the distance to regularly visit this location. This store had a very steady stream of customers so I believe there is no fear of it going out of business. read more
