It wasn't exactly what I expected...nestled in north point mall, Dokimeki has a little bit of everything "popular anime". It might have more but my kid is more mainstream (10 year old) and I don't know what to look for. Half the store is the back room behind the registers so it's pretty small. For me, Dokimeki is THE reason to come to the Northpoint Mall. It has become my go-to spot for gifts and for things to make my bed a little more cute. When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice are all of the stuffed animals stacked on top of each other. When it comes to stuffed animals, there is so much variety. There are large ones, small ones, fluffy ones, less fuzzy ones, pigs, breads, Pusheens, you name it! I've been coming to Dokimeki to get my girlfriend gifts, and she loves everything. I bought her a stuffed animal panda, and a bee and they have been an absolute hit with her. Sometimes, I just want to steal them for myself! The rest of the store is very Asian themed, with Japanese anime merchandise, kpop gear and even some Chinese trinkets. There really will be something for everyone. The vibe of the store is always lively, with Japanese music typically playing in the background and friendly employees. As long as Dokimeki exists, I'll always have a reason to visit Northpoint Mall. Just be careful when you visit, it's extremely tough to leave empty handed! read more

What a great shop... they got all your Japanese cartoon characters. They got all of your Hello kitty merchandise and more....I saw Rilakkuma, Totoro, Doraemon, Kiki and LaLa, Chococat, Pushee, and in the back I saw Korean boy band posters too.....oh ya EXO....BIGBANG, NCT...although I didn't see my boy G-Dragon but that's okay...I own most of his stuff....shhhh.... There was a nice man and his son that were super friendly and very nice. I asked about a Pushee Otter character that I was looking for that they didn't have and they offered to order it for me if I wanted it.... It's a great store and if you are into Japanese cartoon characters stuff then it's a great place to unload some of your hard earned cash. read more

Hello Kitty Headquarters I'm not well versed in the current Hello Kitty merchandise lines, so this place may or may not have the Oh My God latest releases, but it's filled to the gills with Hello Kitty's huge head in a slew of merchandise manifestations. It's not *all* Hello Kitty, but it's certainly the centerpiece [and the entire front of the store]. They also carry other kawaii items, Japanese candy, J-Pop stuffs, t shirts, toys, and those annoying hats for people who like to be dinosaurs. They have a very, very strict "no photography" policy in the store. It was posted everywhere. Such prominent and repetitive signage made me wonder if the merchandise was entirely legitimate. I'm not saying it's bootleg -- and I certainly wouldn't know how to tell the difference -- but I get uncomfortable when a store is that protective over stuff they don't even hold the copyright to. Relax, mang. It's supposed to be fun in here and I'm mad tense over the watchful eyes! read more

While the store is clearly littered with fake figures & nendoroids at inflated prices I was surprised to find Studio Ghibli approved Totoro merch. Not too far away though was a non-approved plush. Just surprising... considering. The store's a little interesting at least. Kinda your standard low key anime paraphernalia store. However, that includes heavy pricing on items that really shouldn't be priced that high. Granted, even if it was cheaper I wouldn't buy these fakes. They're really low quality. The rest of the store isn't as bad though, anime shirts to your hearts desire, wallscrolls, and a lot of Hello Kitty merch. I think the store would be more appealing if it just got rid of the shoddy figures, invested in some higher quality items and overall made it more focused toward their plush and accessory collection. read more

I've been to Dokimeki Japan various times over the years and have always loved going there for Japanese products of all sorts. It's just my recent realization of the type of products they sell that's tarnished my view over the store. Yes, they do have the "no photography" sign because Dokimeki does indeed sell bootlegs. I recently got into figure collecting and was excited to go back to Dokimeki to add some figures to my collection. When I took a look at the display case, my heart instantly sank when I looked at the figures inside. Glossed over plastic, bad paint jobs, and yet still high prices. While not all the figures were indeed bootleg, a good majority of them were and the ones that I could tell weren't were the Pokemon figures that you could find in a Walmart or Target for a fraction of the price. I'm not nearly as educated in bootlegs when it comes to keychains or other accessories, but I bet if they sell bootleg figures they probably would sell bootleg accessories too. Just the whole thought made me refrain from buying anything from the shop. Now, I'm not saying everything there is bootleg. I'm fairly sure the majority of the Hello Kitty merchandise they have at the front is legitimate as well as a lot of their anime plushies. However, some of them are so overpriced that I would prefer to buy them online rather than pay so much. If you don't care about buying bootleg, then Dokimeki Japan is a fine place to buy Japanese and K-Pop goods, albeit slightly overpriced. But I won't be shopping there again. read more

This is a great store if you are looking to buy anime and cute plushies that you can only find online or in Japan. I love how they have a big assortment of Popin Cookin and other Japanese candy. They have an awesome collection of wall scrolls and small posters (mainly anime and video game). The customer service is always on point. They are always so helpful with helping me find what I'm looking for. I guess the only downside is that they only sell mainstream anime merchandise. read more

It's the closest thing to Japan in north point! From hello kitty to anime merch they have a little something for everyone... They also have a nice selection of Japanese snacks and drinks... A major plus side for me is their affordable Pop vinyl nation figures and a great selection of Pokemon figurines and other Pokemon stuff. It's also the only place in the area that carry gundam model kits And the customer service is excellent. They are very Friendly and they help you find what you need read more

a very cute store! lots of hello kitty and other japanese merchandise. the person behind the counter was a bit rude in that they were constantly watching videos on their phone and maybe even sleeping! the merchandise and snacks they carried were very cute and not to highly priced, but the figures didn't look legitimate to me, so if you're a hardcore figure collector i wouldn't buy from here! i found it a very cute store and i would definitely come again. read more
