I was excited to visit with my family this afternoon and greeted the staff member with several hellos and was treated very rudely!!!! This is such a gem for finding vinyl records! The prices are great and the selection is even better. The best part is how organized they are! Everything is alphabetized by category and labeled by genre. Most used vinyl stores are a hot mess and take hours to find anything. This place is a nice find. read more

Book Nook II - Comic Books Near Me - Lilburn, Georgia

If you love reading like I do, you'll love hanging out at the Book Nook II! It's filled to the brim with books and each of them are stocked in it's own designated area or entire room according what genre they belong to. Books are everywhere but it's all very neat and organized, not messy at all. If you need help finding something they will try and hunt it down for you. Customer service can be a little iffy depending on who helps you but the ones who are helpful, make up for it. They also sell Comic Books (which my kids love to collect), Records, CD's, and DVD's. If your heart desires something from back in the day, they just might have what you want. The prices are very reasonable and they also take trade in's or buy your unwanted books as well. If you're looking to make a killing, think again. They will buy your books but on the very, very low, low. They still have to be able to pay the bills. Example, I took in over 30 books to sell, it was a combination of children, YA (young adult), and fiction. I walked out with 4 books for myself, 6 children's books, and a few comics (which I had to pay for because comic books are not included in a trade) and a credit balance of $15. This all depends on what books you have to sell (how popular they were or are), what condition they are in and how old they are. I would say for what I got in return it was a good deal. read more

You really cannot go wrong with Book Nook. Discounted used books. It is smaller than the North Druid Hills location. It is located off Lawrenceville Hwy next to a Blingwannger Glass company. Those two are the only two companies located in a small plaza with enough parking. If you're a book nerd, you will love any Book Nook. It is neatly organized and you're always overwhelmed by what is there. You could always trade in your books and get some cash. For me, I always donate my books to shelters or Salvation Army. This is the "child" store to the main location on North Druid Hills - it's much smaller and not as well staffed. That being said, it's still one of the only used-book stores you'll find in the area. The staff at this location is exceptionally knowledgeable - ask them questions about specific genres and you'll get a lot of information from them. I think the Science Fiction/Fantasy stacks are particularly well-maintained. The comic book section is small but you can still find a few hidden gems. Also, the used DVD collection is fairly robust - you can find a bargain here. They tend to stock unevenly here - due to the more remote location new inventory can at times be spotty. If I lived closer I would visit weekly - I find more of a turn-over when I visit monthly or bi-monthly. Prices are generally good (about half of cover with a minimum on hardcover and paperbacks) and they tend to not trade for junk (if you have a book you bought on a huge table of discount books, they probably already have many copies and won't trade for yours) - they are selective in what they will trade for so don't be surprised if they turn down your crappy copy with the missing cover. As with the primary Book Nook store, this location takes books in trade for credit which you can apply towards your purchase (in the "old days" the trading was better - you could apply the credit towards your whole purchase - now it's half cash, half credit). Parking is a bit tight - luckily there generally aren't a lot of people visiting at once so you can find a space. The store is located in a small strip-mall that includes Binswanger/Vitra Glass, not too far North of the intersection of Lawrenceville Hwy and Indian Trail Rd. read more

Visited today - been before, but this time I brought in some books for credit. Sadly, they only accepted a few, but hey, that's life. They have nicely defined sections, and each section sorted by author last name. The staff were friendly and personable. It's a really nice little shop--the name truly fits. I didn't get anything on this visit, but I will be back. I love older sci-fi and the classics, and they carry both. read more

Old comics for $0.50! Vintage children's books for $5.00! The store has several rooms of used books arranged by category. There is other media too, including BluRays, DVDs, VHS, video games, and music. I can't speak for everyone, but I imagine fans of different genres / types of books will be able to find a few gems at very reasonable prices. As a fan of comics and children's books, I certainly did. I detail my adventures below, so read on only if you're curious. The concise description above is my courtesy to you. I've visited Book Nook on Lawrenceville Hwy two times. The first time I stopped by simply to check out the local book store. I was amazed at the sheer quantity, the low price, and the character of the books (see: used, rare, vintage). As I settle into middle-age, I appreciate the nostalgia, past design aesthetic, and tactile quality of older products. As a fan of children's books, I enjoyed the selection and illustration styles of yesteryear grouped together in a room devoted to books for younger humans. I ended up buying an old Disney book with strong line work (it's Disney) and flat colors, nothing like the Frozens and Moanas kids watch today (which are works of art in their own right). I passed by a couple more rooms of books with words. Genre books, business books, biographies, and such, I'd imagine. I noticed a sci-fi section, but it's probably just a matter of a nerd noticing what he likes. Past the smaller rooms, the store opens into a larger area with used BluRays, DVDs, VHS (yep!), music (didn't really visit this section), and COMIC BOOKS! The rows upon rows of narrow white boxes filled with comics reminded me of visiting comic stores as a teen in the 90s. There is a modest collection of new, bagged comics, but I feel the real prize was the used comics. There is a medium sized shelf of manga too. There is a good number of graphic novels, but they didn't seem too much cheaper than what you could get new ones for on Amazon. For individual issues, bagged new comics start at $1, but the boxes on the floor contain unbagged comics for $0.50 each. I don't need any comics (who really NEEDS them), but I'm happy to buy some for so cheap. I think I got a Jim Lee Uncanny X-Men, an old Wizard magazine featuring Joe Madureira (also half a dollar), and a couple others before I decided I had made my wife, who was accompanying me, wait long enough. I have visited Book Nook one more time, sans wife, and I spent at least half an hour (probably closer to an hour) rummaging through the used comics. I started with the As, got through the Bs, and went home very satisfied with a stack of comics for $11 or $12 dollars. I got several old Avengers comics from the 80s and 90s, all of Astonishing X-Men (Joe Mad) and Amazing X-Men from the Age of Apocalypse, whatever BattleChasers issues they had, a Masamune Shirow Appleseed, and perhaps a couple more. I don't know if I'll make it all the way to the Zs, but I'd love to go back and exchange a few George Washingtons to ward off maturity and adulthood. Book Nook is a happy place for me. I've been coming here since I was 14 years old and they had all the good bootleg Tori Amos concert CDs :) My husband and I try to stop by twice a month to pick up more vinyl and books to add to our collection. This location is smaller than the one in Decatur but I still like going here a lot. It's very organized, as in, alphabetical order by titles and numerical order by volume. And even though the selection seems smaller, we actually have more success finding what we need here. TCustomer service is generally friendly, if not enthusiastic. They sometimes can seem like they just want to be left alone to their books, and honestly, I don't mind since I'd rather browse on my own anyway. read more
