I went here today for the first time. I thought it was really cool. Very big store. I was greeted immediately and the two workers appeared to be friendly. I like how the store was organized. I definitely see myself coming back and just strolling down each aisle looking at books.

I'm a second generation Decatur resident who grew up near Toco Hills and my earliest memory of going to Book Nook was with my family in 1985 when I was 7 years old . Back then it was at a different location, a little further down Clairmont Rd. It was paradise to a family of readers as there was something for everyone. We would all separate and wander the aisles of our choice then meet up later. My mother loved contemporary fiction, my brother was a die hard Sci-Fi fan and I would look at comic books. I no longer live in Decatur but my mother does and I still stop by and visit when I'm in the area. They have a huge book selection with great prices and an assortment of gifts. They have a new book section if used books are not your thing. They also buy books and comics that you can cash out for a little money or get a much larger store credit. It's a great place with a long history of helping Decatur residents find books they love at a good price. Please try and shop here as much you can. Gems like this are fewer every year.

Books from Book Nook! Great finds for only $30!

Really amazing selection, great staff and terrific prices. If I were designing a used bookstore it would be exactly like this

Unique atmosphere. Labyrinthine stacks of used books that go on forever. A cool selection of pop culture collectibles and toys as well.

The experience for me is a lot about the lone browsing, the wandering of terribly unorganized books.

I love this little bookstore!…read more Well, there's nothing little about the space and endless opportunities to find literary greatness at this bookstore in the heart of Decatur. I've had the opportunity to visit Little Shop of Stories numerous times since I moved to Atlanta, but my visits totally hit differently now that I'm a mom. As someone raised by a teacher (with help from Reading Rainbow and Levar Burton), I've passed this onto my son although he can't read yet, lol. So we are always adding to his little library as he grows. Beyond books, Little Shop of Stories also carries so many fun educational toys for kids and books for readers of all ages. It's so easy to get lost in their large collections, but luckily they keep it incredibly organized and make it easy to find whatever your imagination can dream of. After finding a few goodies to take home to my little one, I strolled around the store a bit more and took in the whimsical vibes. Just being in there lifted my mood! Seriously a wonderful place to transport yourself into the magical world of books and discovery, no matter your age.

COMMUNITY STAPLE Enough said!!!…read more No but seriously this is the pinnacle of Downtown Decatur perfection. I'm so happy that not only does Little Shop of Stories continue to survive, but it is unequivocally THRIVING. in a word of online shopping and digital interaction, this community cornerstone understands that they can achieve a unique experience by simply continuing to do what they've always done, and continue to do it proudly! If you haven't been in a while, it's worth a revisit because as of this past fall (2025) they've revamped the interior. It is truly incredible. Stop in as an adult for coffee with or without a child! You won't regret it!

I cannot stop saying enough great things about this bookstore. As an African-American woman with…read moreAfrican-American children, positive representation is so important. This bookstore is the epitome of all positive representation, from the shelves filled with books featuring Black children and the fact the owner is a Black woman, it's definitely what you want children to see. My organization had a private Martin Luther King, Jr. event at this bookstore. Bunnie Hilliard, the owner, was a dream to work with. She helped us create and curate books for a book drive that donated books to DFCS and Nicolas House. She took time to read a book about Dr. King to the children. The bookstore is intimate, quaint, and well organized with books for various children's age groups. I'm so happy it's in existence and that it can have such a positive impact on children and culture.

In recent months, with…read morewhat has been brought to America's collective awareness, we as a family have been finding ways to divert our spending. I'm happy to support not only a Black woman-owned bookstore but one that is local to home. I have ordered many books from Brave + Kind from the website to give to my son and some of his friends. I follow the store on Instagram, which seems to be managed by owner, Bunnie Hilliard. Her love of books and of educating children (and even us children at heart) oozes from her posts and while we are being pretty cautious during this time, I can't wait to take our kiddo to Bunnie's beloved bookstore when we truly get an all-clear to venture back out in the world. If you are looking for a bookstore to get good reads for your kiddos (you can get gift bundles or sign up for a subscription!) and maybe some for yourself, head over to the website to order books online to later pick up on the porch of the store. In-store browsing is currently not available.
