Had always seen this store on my drives around my new home. I was always curious to check it out and finally found the time to stop by and check it out with my boyfriend. We were blown away with their selection or retro gaming and modern gaming as well along with reasonable prices for most items. Lots of Gacha machines, miscellaneous board games, plushies, art, a buying counter along with some of the friendliest staff and service. We were able to get our questions answered about which games would work with our console and left very satisfied with everything. We will definitely be back for more! read more

I'd come here whenever I get the chance. I love the idea of conserving old games for newer generations or simply for a nostalgia trip. I will say some games can be a bit expensive since they are sometimes rare or just limited. I hope they don't start overpricing games like GameStop simply because they can. Great customer service every visit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. This has been my go-to spot for retro games for the past 9-10 years. It's always worth the trip, even in the rare instances that I don't end up buying or selling anything. I just enjoy being there. I'm mainly looking for ps1-2 games, so that's all I'll really speak on here. They have a solid selection and variety of games for what I'm in the market for. Usually most places only have 5000 copies of old sports games. I can typically walk out of VGT with something nice or rare that I wanted as a kid. Highly recommend supporting this business. Some good things and many bad things. First are the good. People have complained that the staff is rude but every time I have been in they have always been nice and give good advice as they are game aficionados and enjoy talking about games. They know their stuff. Probably depends on the day you go. The games you buy at are reasonable depending on the console. Fifth and 6th gen games for the most part aren't bad. The owner can come off as mildly rude but I get his personality although definitely not for everyone. In other words I can see why people think he is rude. The bad-DO NOT SELL OR TRADE HERE. I always thought customers in most places would get about 1/3 of the price they would sell for in the shop. The last several times I got around 10% for selling. I sold an item I thought would bring me some decent money. Sold it for $8. Went back and a week later and they were selling it for around $55. The same old excuses they use at pawn shops. "There just aren't that many people interested in this" yet they are more than willing to make an enormous profit from you for basically costing the owner a value meal item at McDonalds. It was my idiocy at the time for even taking the offer, so that was my fault. But I've never felt so financially used in my life. Again me being stupid and I didn't have to take it. But they take advantage of people they know need cash. I can only imagine what they do to kids/teenagers. They do have a lot of games but so many are the same titles. If you are looking for a rare game it's behind the glass which is understandable. But even looking for a game that was some what popular (not a big hit) they likely don't have it. 45 copies of NFL and NCAA games but where are those games that cost $15-$20 that you can find on Ebay everyday? Yes you will have to wait 10 days or so but trust me it's worth it. And don't buy the comments about having overhead for owning a physical store. Every physical store has overhead and he seems to say that all the time to justify his prices. Hey a few bucks more I understand and probably why you don't see him too much is because he's licking his chops knowing the fortune he has brought in in one day. Go there if you are just looking for a hit game but otherwise the selection is pretty poor. I mean who actually buys a physical copy of Panzer Dragoon Zwei for around $800. You can burn these games for free and buy the cases and artwork cheap on Ebay. I highly suggest going to Wizards Games in Gainesville if you can tack on another half hour. Cheaper prices, better trade in value and better selection. And I've never felt I was taken advantage of. And plus you will enjoy yourself and enjoy the selection and prices. read more

This store has all of your retro gaming (and some modern gaming) needs! It has good prices, good value, and the employees are rad! My only issue is how far away it is. It's an hour drive from me, so I have only been twice. I wish I could go more often. I'm looking to get into more Gamecube now, so I might go soon for that! Hope there's some good games when I go! Huge store with tons of different unique items. BUT THATS IT!! Staff is intentionally deceptive. Bold face lies to my face and cosigned by all other staff members who were within earshot. Called ahead as i live 30 min away and was using uber to get there. Described what i had asking if these were things they would be interested in... was told yes bring it all in. We buy everything, but knowing how these buy sell trade places can be i specifcally asked for more infor over the phone on what the criteria is for them to buy items at fair prices, and its their "company policy" not to give quotes, which is understandable as 95% of stores like that have the same policy. After hearing this explained i dont want a quote i just want to know what exactly needs to be the case for them to buy the items they proclaimed interest in buying. More deceptive answers stating condition is the only thing, but once again im bringing Vintage items that still work perfectly and are in great condition for being 30+ years old, which is why i specifically explained i have vintage items that were used by children 30 years ago and yet they are still in great working condition with some minor wear and tear, which i was then once again told that they would definatly be interested to bring them in. As soon as i got there the friendly atmosphere changed to the ever so common to that of a shady pawn broker looking to take advantage of someone desperate for cash, i however was not desperate for cash but highly annoyed at the thought of spending 50 dolars in uber fees for them to not even offer what it cost to get there, so haggling commensed. tall guy with the chinstrap goatee started off the rip with the "what are you trying to get" (pawn shop lingo) followed by the i dont see us getting anywhere near there. which was countered by a drop in asking price. then straight lies, i was told "the last one sold for 120 so the best i can do is 30%" which i replied 120? id like to see that knowing 200 min was the lowest price for one in the same condition as mine, "oh we use watchcount.com a subscription only site to see the latest prices" (of course no screenshot was shown to me) anyway this went from here to conferring with other staff to a negotiated deal of 150 for all items half store credit, so i filled out the paperwork and waited to be called back over and told they didnt want any of it bc the controller had a nick in the wire and the lid to the storage case was cracked ( a almost completely common defect that all models suffered from which was apparent from pics on the web) so these two revelations turned a 150 dollar deal made on the pretense only that all items worked (which they didnt deny bc they all did) to a we dont want anything our offer is 25 bucks for the 3 games and 25 for the rest of it. which me not being desperate i declined and mentioned my how their blatant low balling and down talking of my items ( how mine were trashy and worthless, yet the ones online with almost identical defects were minor hairline where mine was a major fracture smh) and proceeded to leave. well when i got home i was kinda hot about the whole thing and wanting to see this 120 dollar last sold for item on watchcount i was willing to pay to sign up if i had to (turns out you dont you can use it for free) and low and behold the last sold was exactly for the price i said it would (200$) and the next one while yes sold for 120$ was an incomplete totally missing the lid version. so yeah the point is anyone going to sell cant be sure that whatever price they say to you as the (last one sold for) is a lie and a lowball figure intended to deceive and make u feel like the fair price you are asking is twice as much as it should be so when they offer an offensive 25% of it they seem justified and in the right but hey do this intentionally as a tactic to get cheap inventory to sell at normal listing price or over and intentionally deceive into letting go of ur nice things for next to nothing especially if you are desperate for cash. i wouldnt recommend them for anything, the entire staff all work together on this charade and its obviously a training technique so no if youre trying to sell dont go here they aim to swindle you out of your stuff for pocket change. read more

The store sells Everdrives, Limited Run Games releases and some other awesome stuff that no other stores in the area carry. Metro Atlanta doesn't have a ton of game stores, making this an absolute gem that you should go out of your way to check our and drop a load of cash! read more

As I cross off both checkboxes, I did make the trip up north from the city. I plan to come back here next time I visit ATL. Store: The place was clean and well-organized. I could tell much pride and care went into the cleanliness and organization of all the games, toys and consoles. Prices: Are reasonable and slightly below the asking prices you see on Amazon or eBay. Whenever I was interested in a game, I often checked with both sources. Coming from out-of-town, it did not make sense for me to join the loyalty rewards program. However, given the bulk of games I purchased, the worker provided me a 10% discount (which was very much appreciated). Selection: I was impressed with the overall selection. They had some old collector edition consoles/games, Limited Run games for Switch, Japanese imports, and other rare titles (e.g., I snagged a copy of the Ducktales Wii U). Also, you have the option to purchase their repro cases (which look good - though, I did not do this given I am visiting out-of-town). Staff: Friendly and helpful. I asked several questions related to the games/accessories I was purchasing, and the person working responded promptly. He was also open to small chit-chat around preferred video games. The only con I could think of was the lack of public restrooms (which is completely understandable from a store owner perspective) - I had to run across the street to a local Hispanic grocery store to do my business. read more

Do you like solving puzzles? Maybe solving mysteries in real time? If so, this store is for you! At first glance, Video Game Trader seems to have an unbelievable selection until you look closer. The packaging of each game on the shelves are inconsistent, cheaply made and the colors are all off. You then notice that these are shotty reproductions of the original cases. You think these are just poor store diplays for the actual product stored in the back. It isnt until you look at the the tiny sticker on the back bottom right of each case that 90% of all these games there are loose and incomplete! That might not be so bad for the average game lover, until you realize that the price of you favorite game is $20-$30 more than a fully complete copy. Same goes for the rare complete copy you find, it still is egregious in price. I didn't sell anything on my trip there but it seems that they even buy broken games. This is a store that puts money first and collectors and gamers second. Do not recommend for most people, unless money is no object and ebay is unavailable. read more

Today I stopped by and they've had a bit of a remodel, now they do card games in addition to video games. They used to have tons of consoles and hard to find games, now not so much. The staff are always trying to help and are generally very helpful with any problems you might have. There was only one person working when I went, there should have been at least 1 other employee considering the amount of customers in the store. The prices are higher than expected but they were appropriate for retro games. Sorry to be so blunt, let me tell you why though. 3-4 years ago when I was 15 I came here to trade in some geeky things and games i had to see if I could get some money before I moved to Florida... One of the things i had was my big a** Lego Death Star ( $400 retail). The worker who I was selling it to told me he could MAX sell it for 75 bucks so he would buy it for 45 dollars. I was dumb and naive and didn't realize he was taking advantage of me so I took the offer. Unfortunately, I left my box where I was carrying all the things I didn't sell; I went back the next day to get the box back. A few weeks later I return to the store to see how much they are selling my Death Star for... it had a price tag of 375 dollars. I realized how badly I got ripped off and that part was obviously my fault for getting taken advantage of. BUT THE WORST PART was that they also stole some of the minifigures that were in the box I left and put them in the Death Star for sale.. So not only did they rip off a 15 year old kid, they stole from a 15 year old kid. Don't support this buissness. read more

I'm certainly no video game fanatic but I do play them. In attempt to get a game for the boyfriend I stopped by. Unfortunately they didn't have the game BUT they were able to order it for me! It was used but of course for it being a really pretty old PS2 game. They also have a warranty just in case it doesn't work or something goes wrong with it. There is a deposit for the orders and they call you when its in. The game was a little more expensive than what I can find on eBay but it was worth it because of the reassurance of what I could do if it didn't work. The service is friendly and you should definitely check it out if you're into games. I recommend this place to my friends. They even have a point membership program! I love places like that even if I have no idea what they are used for. Since I don't go there often I was able to look up my friend's account and add the points to his just by giving the phone number. read more

The owner doesn't know the difference between XBOX and Playstation 2. Big red flag. So I accepted another and the XBOX game I received DID NOT PLAY! There were no scratches on it, it appeared like a counterfeit bootleg made to look like an original in a bootleg case. Do Not Buy Here! If I could give 0 stars I would. When I returned the game to get a refund, the seller refused, claiming that the case did not have a disk enclosed even though I returned both. VERY BAD SERVICE and GAMES! read more

All the way from Atari, NES, up to Gamecube, Original Xbox, PS2, etc. If you don't see what you're looking for in store, they can surely order it for you! Seems as if they can get their hands on anything. They also get in new items everyday so check back frequently. I bought a few games for a great price as well as an xbox controller. However, the controller had an issue. So, I returned it with my receipt and he exchanged it for a different one no hassle! The staff is very knowledgeable I might add. On top of all that, they can host tournaments in-store. So, get all your friends together and come throwdown for some prizes and goodies!
