I didn't know this place existed until somebody posted about it on social media and decided to try it out. Right off the bat they tell you you saved 26% by ordering directly through them on their website. I confirm that by looking at the Uber eats pricing and the website pricing which indeed show that the prices on Uber eats were considerably higher. What it doesn't tell you though is that the website for delivery uses doordash which means even though you're saving money, you're still getting charged a service fee as well as a $7 delivery fee plus whatever you decided to tip. Not a great start, but here we go.  The ice creams look delicious on the website, but keep in mind just like the doordash fees catch you off guard, so will everything else. I decided to try their buy one get one half off on the pints with a peanut butter cookie dough pint and a peach cobbler pint as my ice creams of choice. I needed some protein too so I decided to go with a grand Burger, which if you go off the description alone it really doesn't tell you what differentiates it from the double cheeseburger aside from the 50 cent extra. I had to double check and then I noticed that the Grand Burger mentioned a "middle bun." So you're literally paying extra for a bun...nice. I added a berry lemonade and fries to the Grand Burger. Once I got everything squared away and received my order, things were noticeably awry. For one the berry lemonade somehow turned into a Sprite when it converted into doordash's systems so I received a sprite. This is an occasional problem with online delivery systems when items aren't mapped correctly. So to anyone ordering a berry lemonade make sure you clarify that it's supposed to be a berry lemonade in the order notes.  The ice creams themselves are nowhere near what they look like in the store photos. I don't even see the mentioned ingredients from the description aside from the obvious cookie chunks and possibly cobbler crust chunks. This is either due to more of a chemical flavor rather than actual true to life ingredients or they over mix the ice cream which is a huge No-No when making ice cream. When you over mix, you lose all of the drizzles and everything else that's supposed to be in it because it combines with the ice cream base. Do the ice creams taste like how they are supposed to? Yes they are quite strong in terms of flavor. Is it disappointing that they don't look more appetizing and are very basic? Absolutely. What was also disappointing was the fact that the ice cream came in basic white boxes, and not the custom packaging that they proudly showcase as if the ice cream is ready to be sold in stores.  The Grand Burger is quite comical. It's an absolute mess where none of the ingredients are able to stay on top of each other even though the middle bun is usually there to stabilize tall sandwiches. The patty ratio is also hilarious as the top meat Patty was at best 2/3 the size of the bottom meat patty. The picture of it sitting on the large bun with so much space around it says it all. The taste of the burger itself is okay, the meat could use a pinch more seasoning and they just narrowly avoided the overcooked mark. You can definitely tell ice cream is the focus here and the soul food portion of the menu was just added because of the clientele in the area.  Overall Richard's is a treat to the area. If the way they showcased things were true to life then there wouldn't be such disappointment. I don't expect an ice cream shop to have great food overall outside of the ice cream so I'm not ragging it on that, but what I do expect is people to get what is being advertised which is where I feel Richard's has dropped the ball. The ice cream is packed with flavor and you can taste the main bits of what it is supposed to be there...the presentation just needs work. As far as pricing, it is priced fair considering the area. You're looking at about $11 for a burger and fries with drink and $12 for a pint of allegedly homemade ice cream which doesn't get much cheaper for a small, boutique shop. read more

I ordered the vanilla fudge brownie a double scoop for $10. My sister also ordered a double scoop that was banana pudding and sweet potato pie $10. The size you see in the pictures is what you're gonna get for a double scoop it is absolutely overpriced. My vanilla fudge brownie melted extremely fast in the texture of it seemed like it was old and it kind of tasted funny. The brownie and it was good but the ice cream base itself tasted funny. I wouldn't get it again. My sister liked the sweet potato pie and banana pudding ice cream. The way her ice cream tasted was fresh. Her ice cream didn't have that weird texture to it. They need better containers for their ice cream. What he gave us was not suitable for serving ice cream professionally. The service here was pretty decent. You do get to try whatever ice cream flavor you'd like before ordering it. The ambience in here is nothing special it's just three ice cream filled stations and a back area. There's no seating area whatsoever. It is not aesthetic in here. There is free parking along the side of the building and in the back. Definitely come out here during the day. First time here. Location is a little tricky to find but once you do, they have plenty of space and parking. They had a large variety of ice-cream flavors and customer service was great, welcoming very friendly and offered us plenty of free samples before purchasing. All the flavors were tried were original and great. The only issue we had was, once we got all the way home and opened our bag we discovered we only received 3 of the 4 pints of ice-cream we paid for. At 12$ dollars a pint that was a pretty big bummer. May try them again if in the area. read more

Down in the neighborhood and wanted to partake in some ice cream on a Sunday afternoon. My husband and I came here and tried a few sample flavors before deciding on our picks. Delicious flavors include Banana Pudding, Black Walnut, Peach, Peach Cobbler and sweet Potato Pie. This spot had very unique flavor profiles and the quality of the ice cream was excellent. They sell singles, doubles and pints. My understanding is that some of the ice cream can be found in local grocery stores. All in all, it was super yummy. Was in the area taking care of business. A review for this location popped up on social media. I love banana pudding ice cream so planned to try it one day. Then I saw that they have peach cobbler ice cream. Instantly decided that we could wait to eat lunch until we got home. As it turns out they sell food too! It wasn't crowded, until we left. There was one person ahead of us, so we looked at the flavors. I tried two; lemon ice box cake and pistachio nut. Both were delicious but I mixed chocolate pecan and strawberry. My guy got peach cobbler. Of course I tried his peach cobbler. It was so good that I wanted the pie! The chocolate pecan and strawberry were perfectly balanced together! The intense chocolate plus pecans with the sweetness of the strawberry was so good. It was so clean as well. There were a few chairs for sitting but this is more of a take it to go spot. The other week our family decided to head down to the Pullman Historical Society for their monthly neighborhood walks. It was a scorcher and I wanted to try this hidden gem that I had heard about and I'm glad we did. Richard's is in an unassuming building off of 111th. This is really a grab and go establishment as there is only a few chairs and no tables. I love the assortment of unique and delicious flavors. The servers were very patient and as I made my decisions and asked for a couple samples. My wife got the sweet potato pie which tasted exactly like its namesake. This may well be the best ice cream in Chicago. The shop is so small and out of the way you'll question whether you're in the right place, but stick with it: the ice cream more than lives up to the "Super Premium" moniker. I went to Richard's for the first time on 14APR21 on the recommendation of my sister. I was greeted by a gentleman named Lenard who was more than hospitable. I was unaware that they offered samples, and Lenard made sure to enlighten me. My date and me sampled a few different ice creams: all of which were spectacular in both texture and taste. He then brought out additional samples that were some of his favorite and some which were commonly bought. I sincerely appreciated his knowledgeability of their selections. Finally, he offered my date and me an opportunity to park near the store where he served us additional samples. Not ONE ice cream was a weak point as they were all top notch. The customer service was awesome! Once we found the location, the manager (Leonard) and staff assisted us with samples and explanations about each item on the menu.
