I called Technical, describing known problems and explaining that I didn't want to spend much to fix this truck up. I said that I was prepared to junk the truck if repair costs ran too high. They convinced me to take it in for a look. After 3-4 hours they called back telling me the cause of each issue I described. In many cases the fix was much less significant than I expected. Initially fearing a repair estimate of over $2000 or $3000, I was shocked when told the estimate was $515! It was ready for pickup a short time later, and in better repair than it had ever been since I bought the truck. Thank you, Technical. Excellent job diagnosing all the issues; performing cost-effective repairs; and not trying to run up the bill in any way. Well done! I'll be back next time a vehicle needs work.

On the phone Thistle said 'yupp, for sure bring it on over'. When I got there they said they were very sorry but they didn't realize my truck was an F-350, and the only hoist they could lift it with was being used. After explaining to them how my day at the last place had turned out, they were bound and determined to get me taken care of. They threw the tires back on the vehicle that was using the big hoist, got my truck right in, told me to just sit down and relax, brought me a water, told me not to worry that they would get me taken care of!! So that was of course fantastic, and then when I was all set and ready to go right at 5:00pm, in order for me to make the Registration office by 6:00pm, I needed to contact my insurance company like ASAP, so they didn't hesitate to offer me to use their phone, then they also scanned and emailed my bill of sale and inspection sheet off, when all was said and done they stayed at least 30mins late after they were closed, and they were so so so friendly and made me feel right at home the entire time. Thistle Automotive charged $180 which was the lowest I could find in the area and they were a family owned business which is something I really appreciate and like to support. I went there and Richard the owner was super friendly and gave me lots of good advice for my vehicle. He even drove me home and then picked me up when my car was done. About a week later my hubby accidentally put some diesel in my gas car which caused a huuuuge problem and I immediately called Richard, he advised me on what he thought I should do, I got my car towed there and he was really good at calling me and updating me on the repairs and costs all along which being sensitive to my misfortune. His mechanic Kevin was someone else who I dealt with there who was also very pleasant and professional to deal with. I can say without a doubt that Thistle Automotive will be the place that I bring my vehicle to while I live in Fort Saskatchewan. I took my 2017 Mercedes GLS to EC Auto Repair Edmonton on November 2, 2025, and it turned into one…read moreof the worst experiences I've ever had with any mechanic shop. My vehicle stayed in their shop for 4 days, and after the inspection they told me that my driver-side lower control arm was broken and that the thermostat needed replacement. They charged me $3,600, but never provided any proof, photos, or explanation showing that the arm was actually broken. They also refused to give me the parts invoice, never showed the cost of the parts they used, and provided no breakdown at all. They charged me $2,200 just for labor, yet this job normally takes around 3 hours, not multiple days. When I asked for labor rate, time, or details, they didn't provide anything. The whole process felt unprofessional, unclear, and extremely overpriced. The worst part is that after I picked up my car, it had even bigger problems than before. The vehicle started having new issues immediately, and now I have to take it to another certified Mercedes mechanic to fix whatever was done to it. I honestly have no idea what they did to my car, but the quality of work seems extremely poor. I am very disappointed and strongly warn anyone with a high-end vehicle: do not trust this shop with your car. They provided no transparency, no proof, no proper documentation, overcharged for labor, and returned my car in worse condition than it arrived.
