I dropped off my Surface pro with Richard because it wasn't charging and I thought it might be the battery or a bad cord. If it was the battery I knew I would need help getting it changed out so I took it to Richard to find out for sure. As it turns out, I didn't have the two sections of the cord connected correctly. Richard is a nice guy and smart but not sufficiently experienced. He could be fine for something simple but I would be cautious if your computer was a high end one or you had a large data recovery problem. I came in with a pretty standard data recovery issue and he ended up screwing up my computer. My Dell G7 computer was 100% functional prior and when I got it back it was broken. He had done some very invasive procedures like take apart the computer, partition table was not functional, etc. The other tech who fixed my computer told me a lot of the procedures he did were totally unnecessary. If I hadn't gone to him I wouldve recovered 100% of my files (Im guessing I lost about 20-30% of the files). I had to go to another tech and pay him to recover the files and fix my computer which was pretty messed up. read more

My computer OS crashed and I was concerned about the data I had stored on my computer being lost, so out of concern I called Richard. He responded quickly enough and was very nice. He told me his rates but also told me that he would come tell me what's wrong and only charge me if he actually did anything. We agree to meet later that day. He reaches out a few hours later and tells me that he can't make it and that it should be a pretty easy fix on my own and to call him if it doesn't work out, which is all fine. I get around to attempting it on my own a week or so later and I believe I messed something up in the process so I call him again. Again, he is friendly and quick to respond and shows up to my house 20 minutes later. He looks at it and at first tells me that the drive where I reinstalled the OS was wiped but I showed him it wasn't and that all my data is in another folder. So he ends up telling me that I did everything right and that there's no issue. Great! Now the issue arises. He was there for less than 10 min to tell me that my computer is fine and he didn't do anything but click update windows (which I would have done anyways). I asked him how much I owe him for making the trip out. I reminded him of our earlier conversation that he wouldn't charge for a diagnostic and that he didn't really do anything and it was less than 10 min. I told him I also didn't want to rip him off since he made the trip out there. He initially tried to charge me full price (70 dollars + 20 for a travel fee). I told him I thought that was unreasonable for the reasons mentioned above so he sheepishly said 80. I told him I still thought that was too high and said how does 50 sound even though I still thought it was too high. A long pause and awkward silence later, I directly asked him to tell me what he thought was fair and I'll pay it. He said 70 so I said whatever and paid it. He was in and out within 16 minutes.
