I brought my daughter to my root canal appointment and they were accommodating and even super kind about her talking on the phone during my appointment (embarrassing for me, lol). Christine works her best to ensure all patients feel heard and provides exceptional customer service. She provides a great example all dental offices should follow regarding customer service. Dr. Afshari is an exceptional dentist, she truly cares about her patients and ensures the work her establishment performs is done perfectly everytime. I've previously experienced laser dentistry, however it was out of pocket and I had some help from family at the time (charge would have been the same regardless of the laser). Ever since, I've wanted to have that same experience again (no shots no whiiiiiiiine of the drill). Fast forward a few years and I'm back in Sacramento and need a new dentist. Once I acquire insurance that will allow me to see anyone I want, I go looking for a laser dentist in the Sacramento area. I come across Dr. Alexander's website and everything I read just sounds like what I'm looking for so I make the appointment. I had my first appointment today 2-8-11 which consisted of the standard x-rays and checking out the teeth for cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. Dr. Alexander was completely amazing. Every question answered and I really felt at ease the whole time. Her answers made sense and I really felt like I was being taken care of as an individual as compared to the last dentist I had to see when I was stuck on my employer's HMO dental plan for the last two years. Combining Dr. Alexander's "bedside manner" (as it applies to a dentist) along with the laser technology which I've been seeking ever since I first experienced it I'm actually going to look forward to going to the dentist even if I DO end up having to have something filled or some other procedure that might normally be dreaded. EDIT 2-24-11: Had my cleaning today. It's honestly hard to compare "gentleness" and comfortability levels to my previous ones because I've needed deep cleanings in the past and didn't today. However I was definitely impressed by being taught what now seems like some basic stuff by my hygienist that I had no idea about before from any other trip to the dentist chair. The cleaning itself was very thorough and I'm definitely happy with it. EDIT 3-9-11: Had the rest of my treatment a few days ago, a few fillings in 3 different areas of my mouth. Definitely a much nicer experience than the usual due to the Waterlase "drilling". (Usually 3 areas is att least two visits because they don't like to numb both sides) I had to have one tooth numbed because of where the cavity was at, and even that was not bad at all. Nothing on the rest of the mouth because the Waterlase is able to do it with no pain in most cases. I barely felt anything from the needle though I'm not sure if that's just because of where it was at. The fillings matched my teeth exactly and I can't even tell there is anything there unless I really look very close. Again, definitely recommend Dr. Alexander to anyone looking for a dentist.

Surprise! Not a big fan of going to the dentist. I have issues from my childhood dentist that would insert large painful metal tools and clamps (back in the day before technology and advances in dental medicine) - like biting down on a bullet as my Mom would say. As an adult, I had a great dentist for years. I didn't like going but I knew that he cared and showed genuine concern. Then, when I moved, I had to start over and find a dentist that was as good, or better, than my previous regular. We found Dr Kolander! It was a referral from (wife's) co-worker. She went first. The reports were positive. It was my turn. I was sweating. Short of breath. Almost panic; thinking "what disaster will he find." A glorious time was had by all that were in attendance of my first appointment. I was relieved to have found a dentist that I could feel comfort and confidence. I've been seeing him 'regularly' know for a couple years. I'm still not a fan of the process, but at least I know that I'll be taken care of by Dr Kolander and his staff. I'm on my third bridge from a childhood injury to my front teeth. While the work was not done by Dr Kolander, he does what's necessary to preserve the longevity of the current bridge making minor fixes. I have another somewhat big deal coming soon that will need to be taken care of and know that Dr Kolander will refer the most competent and caring.
