It's time for me to take my health care needs to a facility more equipped for my needs. The Torrance office is too small. Always overbooked. You have to wait 30+ to been seen when you have an appointment. I've never personally seen Dr. Butlig in all my 7 years of coming to this facility. I usually see Crystal who is a nurse practitioner (She's Amazing) I believe the one prior to her was Anastasia when they were near the Torrance Airport (she was amazing as well)l. I come in once a year for my annual and that's literally it. The only reason I've stuck around is because records are here. The office staff is hit or miss with respect to politeness (front desk). If you hate your job then quit. Remember, just like you only want to take folks with PPO insurance, we call take our business elsewhere. I'm upset with these folks right now! This review is for both the Torrance and the Carson office as we've had related interactions with both. Good thing I got my elderly father to another doctor's office, where they put 2+2 together to figure out there might be some real health issues based on his symptoms and bloodwork. Dr. Krystal allowed his test results to be reported to us by the front desk girl as "fine". Everything is NOT "fine" and this other doctor immediately ordered special panels for liver & kidney damage showing on those results as related to a recent incident of his. We never saw her at the Torrance office as scheduled since the appointment time got messed up somehow. No one called to confirm ahead of time, so we showed up as she was leaving and never saw her. Interactions with the staff and Dr. Butlig have been mostly good as everyone seems very nice. But after those encounters, the incompetency becomes very clear. For example, the Carson office never called to let me know his test results were back, so good thing I called them and then got an appointment made for the Torrance office. Good thing again because the Torrance office has the voicemail on and doesn't return calls! The Torrance girl told me that EKG results are generally discussed immediately after the test. Nice to know, since after that was done in the Carson office, Nobody said Nuthin'! Meanwhile back in Carson, no one mentioned anything about the giant bruise and cut on my Dad's lower lip that he doesn't know how he got during a time of sleeping for over 24 hours. Plenty of red flags waving that nobody noticed or knows how to put 2+2 together!? Or because of his advanced age, no one thought to refer him to a specialist? When I called Carson wondering if I needed a referral for him to see a Geriatrician for his age-related issues, the girl on the phone didn't even know what that was! Sheeeesh..... read more

I am a new patient (Jan 2020) and I'm very happy with the services. Dr. Butlig is very professional. One of the best Doctors I've been to. He takes time to answer and explain your concerns. His staff are so accommodating and helpful. I had the best experience (yet so far). I highly recommend Dr. Butlig, a very good and knowledgeable Internist. GREAT doctor. I'm seeing him again soon however in his Torrance office. Staff in the office was very friendly except for one girl who did the bloodwork. Very rude. I was trying to talk because it was all quiet in the room. I said "Oh I'm always scared during bloodwork." She was like "Well you are going to give me hard time." looking all annoyed with me. After that, she told me to do the urine sample and I'm good to go which I did not understand and asked her nicely. She repeated it in a rude way looking at annoyed at me. Thing is, this is a doctor's office. It's not good to have rude staff when people already don't feel good. I'm going to the Torrance office next time. read more

Great Doctor ! Dr Richard Butlig has been my GP for almost 14 years. I'm always amazed at how much attention to detail and clarity I receive every time I have an appointment. He has always been spot on when it comes to explaining things. He is beyond kind and really listens to his patients , this a rare in today's busy world! His office Manager Emily always remembers who I am , addressing me with a smile and asks about how I'm doing. The office staff is very polite and I can tell they are trying very hard to accommodate all the many patients needs. I would give Dr Butlig 7 stars if I could. read more

In general, Dr. Richard Butlig is a great physician. However, I've tried having my appointments at both the Torrance and Carson location and both result in long periods of time in the waiting room. Now when I say long, I mean it's an unacceptable wait time. On average I've waited over an hour in the waiting room and then atleast another 30 minutes once placed in an exam room. The doctor does spend time with you as a patient but the staff should recognize the constant back-up and space out the appointments rather than double booking. read more

Instead of no review let me rant about this place, not only is it the most un-professional doctors office I've ever been but the love that they show their future and present patients is horrendous. Not only did I make an appointment a week in advance but when I show up they say "sorry we can't do anything,you're gonna have to come back or find somewhere else because someone booked your appointment but didn't tell us" WTF!!??? The doctors are really good. Too bad the office staff is so unorganized. They do half ass jobs at everything. Prescriptions are not processed. Referrals aren't signed. They tell the doctor they did. I got my referral a month later in the mail only too see that they aren't even signed. Honestly I only but up with it because I'm under treatment. Otherwise I would have changed pcp a long time ago. The don't pick up the phone. I was on hold once for 30 minutes to get on thin answered. They said the office person was not in. So I got off my car and walked up just to see that person was there. Honestly ready to call insurance and ask them why they would even offer them as an in network option. Horrible horrible horrible. read more

Experienced doctor. He is worth the wait. He spends a great deal of time with you, and gets to know you on a personal level so he can treat your ailment. My family has been going to Dr. B forever, and his wife (a pediatrician) also sees my daughters. There is also vending machine that sells healthy snacks and drinks for while you wait. read more

With an appointment you wait quite a bit of time I had appointment the first appointment and was early and still had to wait 45 minutes with an additional 30 minutes in the office. The staff is unprofessional many people zoom in and out late. When you call they do not follow up. You must call several times, and staff does not follow up even if you give them all the data needed to follow up. The Carson office is not maintained, it appears dirty and unsanitary especially in comparison to the Torrance office which is clean and neat. I observed Medical furniture that was broken while I set long in a waiting. On the positive side the medical assistants are friendly. read more

I am updating my review since December because the staff and service has gotten much more consistent. I feel confident that when I have a question or concern they will get me an answer that day if not very soon. I had an MRI this week and the day afterwards Dr Butlig's office called to schedule a follow-up to review the scan. I was concerned because this was the next day and they couldn't tell me the results over the phone. I set an appointment and then a few hours later they called me and informed me my MRI results were negative. I was so relieved that I wanted to update my previous review. I love to do a 0 starts , but I guess I have to do a least 1 , I make an appointment last week to annual check I should mention this was my first time to this office, well I make an appointment on ZOCDOC appt which is more convenient for a lot of people instead be on the phone to make an appointment, I had my appt at 11am so I went to just to know I wasn't going to see the Dr. because the doctor is not going to be in the office all week ! Are you kidding right ?! Nope the receptionist told me that I should called the office before I go to my appointment, lol seriously?! What should I call when I already make my appointment on the app ? Actually it was they job to call me and let me know that Dr. is not going to be in office! I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give zero stars. I have never heard of a doctor's office being this bad. At first we thought this place would be okay because they were able to get him in quickly. What a disappointment. Had the appointment and the doctor said he wanted a few CT Scans and would submit referrals for them. Well two weeks later nothing. So I called the office. They told me we should have the authorization in a few days. Okay. So we waited another three weeks due to a holiday. Nothing. Called the office again. Spoke with the referral coordinator and was advised that the referrals were not submitted. She then submitted them. In the mean time we changed doctors and I called the Medical Group (forget the office) to check on the status of the referral authorization. Well, he had the scans done since I got the authorization. We did not hear from the doctors office for two more weeks when they called to say they received the auth and to make the appointment. I started to laugh and told them we had the scans done a week ago. Ended up in the ER (two weeks later) and was told about the results of the Scans there. Received a call about three weeks after the ER visit asking "if" we wanted to come in for the results. I laughed and told them no. We've changed doctors. It's not the doctor it was his office staff. They are horrible. Can't really say about the doctor. But if the staff reflects how the doctor is, then well you decide. read more

HORRIBLE! Waited 2 hours to be seen for a TB Test that I needed for work. Brought in paperwork from my job for the doc to fill out. Went back for the reading....paperwork was NOT ready. Went the following day, and that is when the office staff decides to inform me that there is a $25 fee for paperwork!!! No sign posted...no previous mention. So on top of my $30 co-pay....I had to pay to have the doc sign an already pre-filled out document?? I was so upset that I cancelled my future appointments. I PAY for my insurance....this is worse than a free clinic! And to think that I paid $55 for a freakin TB test makes me so pissed off! Dr. Butlig's office has the most unprofessional hood-rat office staff I've ever encountered. I tried giving the office the benefit of the doubt, considering perhaps "problem" staff members are functioning independently from the office management/physicians. However, after having an encounter with Dr. Butlig I now realize the unprofessional office staff are a direct reflection of the physician's own shortcomings and poor communication skills. The doctor is nice and slightly knowledgeAble when we did see her. My son had four visits with her . Out of 4 we saw her once for the first visit and the rest were through her in training PA's . The staff is super nice and refreshing . Overall a good place for urgent care . But if your looking for A family pediatrician one you can see and will know your sons history each time this is not the place. The doctor is rarely there. like I said it's a good place if your son has an easy straight forward issue, a splinter or some sort . Wait time is fairly acceptable. better than some but not great. I went here to get a vaccination that was required for work. I verified that the vaccination was covered under my health insurance before making an appointment. Pros: it was easy to get an appointment, the staff was friendly, and although the doctor was away from the office I was still able to see the NP in order to get my vaccination. Con: Want a covered vaccination only (meaning I shouldn't pay) and this is your first visit? well, you have to also have a physical performed. Ok, so not a big deal, that is also covered in my insurance. Except, their physical requires bloodwork...hmmm..For those of us already in the health field, this means an added cost. After talking to the woman at the front desk, she called my insurance company (I will give her props for that), and she confirmed that these tests were also covered. I told her that I really wanted to make sure it was covered because all of this was starting to get ridiculous. Just give me my vaccination and leave my blood alone. Well I was in a time crunch and after some reassurance from the secretary, I went ahead with the physical and bloodwork. As the RN was drawing my blood I happened to glance over at the lab recs and saw they wanted to do a cholesterol screen. Wait a minute I thought. Ummm these are supposed to be drawn after fasting. I had just had a nice hefty lunch before this. Why take a test that you know is going to be high? Why not ask me before if I had eaten anything and if the answer was yes, then omit that test? Turns out some of the tests weren't covered by my insurance. After calling my insurance company, the lab that processed my bloodwork, AND the doctor's office, I was still forced to pay for this stupid blood work. And suprise suprise, my cholesterol came back high. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back there! Money pit! read more

AVOID at ALL Costs or else it just may cost you money and your health. They only care about making appts and getting your money. WHEN DID THE PATIENT TRANSFORM FROM BEING A PATIENT, SOMEONE WHO NEEDS THEIR MEDICAL CARE TO, BEING AN ATM MACHINE? SO SAD!!!!! I went in for a physical. The office pulled blood and tested all kinds of things that were not covered under a physical. The insurance now tells me the MD should have told me what labs would have been covered and which ones weren't. That seems pretty reasonable, courteous and professional. MD - "Hmmm, I think we should tell the patient they may be charged a couple hundred dollars for things we're doing? Nah, forget it. Let's just pull the blood and let the patient get a nice surprise. They'll just think it's a good deal because the insurance will pay for Most of it." BAD!!!! After my physical, they had me make an appt to discuss labe. As it turns out, I'm guessing they wanted me to come in so they could charge me $60 for an office visit. I know for a fact, they could have called me with the results. I told them when they asked for the $60 that I declined the so called 'office visit'. I requested to have the MD call me. The MD did not call. I waited a couple days and called back again demanding to speak to the office manager. It now had been 1.5 months and not a single call from the MD or the office. Some assistant calls me back and tells me one of my routine labs came back abnormal. Now I was really upset. One of my labs was abnormal and they didn't call to tell me?!! I demanded again to have the Office Manager or MD call me back. She promised the MD would. Another couple days went by and no phone call. This time I went in to get a copy of my labs and demanded yet again to have the MD call me back. They even admitted my MD fails to call anyone back. They promised they would have Dr. Butlig call me back that morning. Guess what? Still no phone call. It's been 2 months and they never called. All I received was a Bill for the 1st appt which in my opinion was falsely billed so they could receive more reimbursement from the Insurance. I had to report them and file a complaint with the Insurance and the Dept of Managed Care. Please please please do not go to them. I'm sure there are people who like them and think they are good which is totally fine. There are some people who like mud and dirt. But for most, double check your bills and the lab work that will be performed. Many of it is unnecessary. They don't tell you what they are going to do other than take your blood and then suck out more money. PLEASE SAVE YOU MONEY AND YOUR HEALTH AND DO NOT GO!!!! read more

Dr, Richard Butlig is an awesome doctor and so was Dr. Evangeline Roxas Butlig who used to see my children prior to all of us seeing Dr. R. Butlig. Lately, Dr. R. Butlig has been dedicating less hours at his clinic and more in home care and hospitals. This leaves his PAs attending to his patients most of the time. I miss those days when we had physicals and Dr. Butlig would thoroughly discuss the results with us. My son, husband and myself had physical last January and we had not had a chance to see Dr. R,.Butlig because his limited availability in the office does not fit our working schedule. His staff are not the best neither. There were some who appeared mad that they are working in the clinic such that their service to the customers are very much wanting in quality and care expected of a place that should welcome people with pleasantness as it is not good to be sick. I miss Dr. Butlig back in the day when we started seeing him. Had it not been for him, our condition would not have been well maintained. read more
