I've been going to Dr. Kim for a while to get my yearly check ups. She's always been nice, personable, listens and seems to know what she's talking about. Trying to get an appointment is always difficult. She is usually booked up for months so I started booking my appointment the same time every year to guarantee a spot. This year I got a call saying they cancelled this year's appointment for some reason and I'd have to call to reschedule. I called (mid November) and was told she's booked all through March of next year. Good for her that she's so popular but I haven't seen anything from her that I can't get somewhere else. I arrived at Dr Kim's office 13 minutes late. I was coming to Torrance from Long Beach and the traffic going by the port was horrible, congested with big tractor trailer trucks. I had blocked ears, impacted by earwax and could barely hear. I was in pain. I was told she could not see me and I would have to come back in one week. I asked a second time and she declined to see me. A front office ice cold person told me I could go to urgent care in Redondo Beach with no appointment. I asked again. Then I asked to see the manager, also cold. I had to tell the manager I was not in love with UCLA as an orthopedist at UCLA Santa Monica wanted to replace my right knee and it did not need to be totally replaced. I recently needed a colonoscopy and had FIVE that's 5 cancellations from UCLA. They tell everybody with huge tacky banners that UCLA is the BEST hospital in the west. Baloney. What about Stanford, UCSF, and Berkley. And Scripps. UCLA is NOT the #5 hospital in the country, no matter if US News and World Report said that once. I have been a very frequent patient of UCLA for 35 years. Probably a mistake. Dr. Kim is cold and hard with negative bedside manner. She must have gone to medical school at Rikers Island and done her residency at Sing Sing. I suggest you drive to their main campus in Westwood where you get treated with compassion, dignity and respect. read more

I am forever grateful for Dr.Kim, when I first got pregnant I was not able to get an appointment with any of the OBs that I wanted to go see in the area. Literally, they were booked up months in advance and I didn't want to not see an OB for the entire first trimester so I had to expand my search for OBs down in Orange County. I was seeing an OB in OC for a few months until I saw Dr.Kim who's my primary care doctor, and she while she examining me and we got to talking about my pregnant and how I was doing and she was shocked that I was going down to OC to see an OB. When she asked me who I wanted to see that was in the South Bay, she quickly put in a referral for me and got me an appointment with a doctor whom I was told was not taking any more new patients. Dr.Kim is totally my hero! I had a lump on my neck that I went to go see Dr.Kim for, I wasn't too concerned about it but I wanted to go get it checked out just in case, Dr. Kim was very professional, friendly and took extra precaution to make address my concerns. She ran some tests, when the tests came back she even emailed me to follow up with me. Turns out everything was fine. Oh! And I love the fact that she's not pushy. She asked about the flu shot and I told her I've had the flu shots 4 times in my life and ended up very sick 3 of those times (twice with whopping cough and one with walking pneumonia) she didn't pester me about getting the shots again. I called this clinic to make an appointment and en-quire about their fees. After all the great reviews and comments I thought I couldn't go wrong with this choice of clinic. But due to the fact I don't have medical insurance the receptionist was very rude. Unhelpful. And plain dis respectful. The minute I told her I didn't have insurance her entire attitude changed. If I didn't have the money to spend at the doctor I wouldn't have been calling in the first place. This clinic is obviously as meticulous as their clients say because they probably run your insurance bill through the roof while pretending it's for you own good! read more

Love this doctors office! The doctors and staff are super polite and nice. I saw Dr. Jennifer Chew and she's really nice. She addressed all my issues and I did my research on all the doctors in that office and they are all very well versed in bedside manners. For such a small office you would never think to know that they have 5 Primary doctors, a Kidney doctor and an Allergist and East/West medicine (acupuncture). I wanted to see Dr. Gloria Kim since everyone wants to see her because of the Yelp reviews but I opted for someone that doesn't have such a busy schedule and is not that accesible. You know how when people over-hype something it is never as good as you think it will be. Well this is not the case with Dr. Kim. The girls in my office have been raving about this doctor in the lunchroom a few months ago. I thought oh cool a doctor near our office would be nice. Well I finally took there advice and went to see Dr. Kim this month. And now I am one of those people that rave about my new doctor. She was very friendly. Did not have to wait too long which was nice. But the best part is HER. She is very personable. She spent lots of time talking and explaining everything to me. I never felt rushed or just a number with her. She seemed to really care, which is hard to find in a doctor lately. I had some lab work done and she called me the next day with results. So there you have it, if you are looking for a PCP look no further. read more

Just wanted to update, since she is now located down in Torrance. At first I thought I'd have to find someone else on the westside. Then I realized that with traffic & parking, it probably takes me just as long to get to Torrance outside of rush hour as it does to get to Santa Monica at any time. So I gave it a shot the other week and visited Dr Kim in her new digs. Two words: free parking. In a parking lot. If you've dealt with the nightmare that is parking at her old office, you will be shocked and amazed. The new office is nice, and it seems they're still building up their patient roster, which meant that they were calling me back to be seen before I'd even finished my paperwork. If you're on the fence about the trek to the South Bay, don't be - I went fairly early in the day, and my travel time was pretty much the same as it would have been had I fought the madness in Santa Monica (coming from the Culver City area), with less effect on my blood pressure. Totally worth it so that I can maintain my relationship with Dr. Kim! read more

I'm never hesitant to give rave reviews to a person who truly deserves it, even if it makes their appointment book a little too full! I had a pretty terrible experience with a different GP from UCLA's group, and was nervous about staying in the system. After seeing Dr. Kim's great reviews on yelp, however I decided to give her a try--and it was well worth it! I was (accidentally) 15 mins late to my first appointment, and she still brought me in, with less than 10 mins waiting time between the front office and patient room (which is also decorated quite nicely, might I add). Dr. Kim was an absolute gem--caring, engaged, attentive, and didn't make me feel rushed whatsoever. She was meticulous in going over my previous medical history and family history, which I've never had a doctor do before. She also took the time just to chat with me about work, and our shared commute. I almost forgot I was at a doctor's appointment! I couldn't have been more pleased with my visit--so blessed I found this amazing GP, and will recommend her to everyone at my work! read more

Doctors can be terrifying. One doctor tried to sell me on unproven drugs for general improved health, because according to the pamphlet he gave me, it would make my cells dance with joy. An Internet search suggested that the drugs seriously messed up people's lives. Another doctor cut my questions off after five minutes, because she had to see other patients. Yet, another doctor while examining me, yelled all the way to the front desk at a poor old man confused about his high bill that he had to pay up. I am glad to report that I finally found a doctor that did none of those things: Gloria Kim. She spent more time talking to me than any other doctor. She was smart and engaged in my concerns and information that I had researched on my own. She actually complimented me for being smart and informed. Imagine that a doctor that didn't yell at me for reading up on the Internet! The blood tests that she ordered was a thorough and specific selection. I'm glad about that, because my last doctor would only order the bare minimum tests. She is friendly and personable. And, the conversation created trust. PS: I'm not sure how I feel about the UCLA health system. She is a member of it. The first time, I called UCLA to try another doctor, the number from their own web site for the particular doctor was routed to a wrong department. That department receptionist after searching the whole company directory said the doctor wouldn't exist. Later, I found another UCLA number. That number said the doctor existed. However, I needed a UCLA ID number before she could talk to me. Without another word, I was transferred into an automated telephone prison without escape. Entering the Santa Monica building, immediately gives the sense of being stuck in some big machine that doesn't care about you. The decor looks like it was nice, yet has been ignored and allowed to deteriorate. The receptionists are moody and care only about typing in their computers. They make you fill out a card with your name and appointment time. Why isn't it enough to simply say 'hi, I'm xxx?' I wish Gloria Kim had her own practice, so I wouldn't have to deal with UCLA Health system. Otherwise, she is stellar. read more

Just like the previous yelper has said I was reluctant to write this review because I am selfish and don't want to share Dr. Kim! I have been on the search for a good GP for YEARS, at last I have found one. The thing I like most about Dr. Kim is that she isn't intimidating, she's super friendly, and is willing to spend time just talking with me. Her bed side manner is unlike any doctor I've ever experienced and I like that she is open to certain holistic approaches and not quick to just perscribe you meds or refer you to surgery. She always finds time to squeeze me in and she even does email with her patients if you have a quick question or concern! How amazing is that? The office is clean, the staff is friendly and she always gives me good referrals to other Doctors that I need to see. I lost my mother very suddenly the end of September of 2016-I was distraught and devastated by her loss. I went to Dr Kim in October and asked for HELP or anti-depressant or anything to get me through. She was so cold and outright mean to me. My husband went in a month later for a physical. A few days later I had a follow up with her where she had the audacity to tell me that she could not believe we were married! She is one cold duck! I never wanted to write a review on Dr. Kim because I selfishly didn't want her to get so popular that I could never get an appointment. In saying that, I moved and I am now afraid I will never find a doctor like her again. Dr. Kim is simply the best doctor I have ever had. From the first moment I met her, when she sat with me for over a half-an-hour carefully going over my and my family history, to any little ache or pain, to more serious conditions, she has been there for me. She not only has been there, she has gone above and beyond in so many ways that is not normal for a doctor nowadays. You can tell, Dr. Kim truly cares. Dr. Kim takes her time and explains what is going on, why she is doing these tests, why this drug is best and what other options are and patiently answers any bizarre questions you might have. She once recommended a test, that I didn't schedule right away, a few weeks later I got a call from her, concerned that I hadn't gone in for that test yet. Have you ever heard of a doctor being that involved and proactive? I miss Dr. Kim. Thank you so much Dr. Kim for everything you did for me. I heart Dr. Kim, and not just because she has the same first name. I initially began seeing her because I had been feeling a little more tired - this also coincided with finishing grad school, moving, and starting a new job so turns out it was just stress related. However Dr. Kim did a full work up just in case; even sent me all the labs in the mail which no doctor has ever done. Usually doctors just tell you "no news is good news" which always creeps me out b/c I'm paranoid that I'll miss a phone call/etc. But besides that she has just the best bedside manner and is very thorough. Found Dr. Kim on Yelp because I was not happy with my prior primary care physician & was on the hunt. So far my interaction with this office has been fantastic. Dr. Kim is thorough and her staff is very professional, which is rare in smaller medical offices these days. I initially found Dr. Kim on yelp about a two years ago and have been going to her ever since. It seemed crazy to me to find a doctor on yelp, but heck after taking recommendations from friends and my insurance company with no luck at finding someone I liked I figured I would give it a shot. I've been going to Dr Kim since 1998 and she's the best doctor you can find in LA. She listens to you and takes care of you like her family member. One thing is that UCLA system used not to schedule so many patients but now it's so crowed and Dr Kim seems to be so busy. Also for PPO patients, UCLA is expensive option. Dr. Kim is wonderful! I am a new patient and recently needed to go see her for a sinus infection. Even on a busy Friday her staff made room for me in the late afternoon so I wouldn't have to suffer over the weekend. When I met with Dr. Kim she was very warm and caring and I didn't feel rushed at all. She answered all of my questions and told me I can email her anytime. Agree with the other reviewers. I saw Dr. Kim for three years. She has a wonderful, unintimidating presence. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner--she's very calm, comforting and sweet, and makes even awkward procedures really simple and unembarrassing. What she has been able to accomplish in a ten-minute appointment with me is amazing! There were times that I went into visits planning to schedule additional tests that I assumed she wouldn't have time for, and when I mentioned them, she would often say, "Actually, why don't we just do it now?" Then five minutes later I'd be out the door. She's also pretty quick to answer questions over email, which I love. At times she has seemed a little rushed, but never at the expense of giving me excellent care. When my insurance changed I had to leave, which was a huge bummer for me. I have never been so comfortable with and confident in my medical care and I recommend her all the time. It's pretty darn easy to get an appointment there. I don't recall having to wait more than two weeks for a physical or something else that wasn't urgent. For something more pressing, never more than a handful of days. Also, if you've ever been to the UCLA Santa Monica offices, you know that they're beautiful and pristine--which is also nice! read more

After a 45 minute drive, I got to dr Kim's surgery 8 minutes late (from 2.15pm scheduled appointment to 2.23pm actual time of arrival). Once I checked in, and after 15 minutes waiting, the nurse told me dr Kim wouldn't take me because I was late and she was already taking care of the next patient. I could have waited but they said dr Kim wouldn't be able to take care of me later either. I was rescheduled. On my way back to work (altogether 2 hours and a half wasted) I thought: Well, this is not kind (to say the least). Particularly in Los Angeles where you can not predict the traffic. My company and myself cannot afford this rigorous scheduling. I will have to look for another physician. And after three years, I don't think she was such a big deal either. We were referred to Dr. Kim by another UCLA Health Services specialist. She is wonderful. Takes time to listen. Is very personable and shows caring. She is diligent and proactive, but doesn't over-prescribe care. She is very responsive via email, and also calls in person at times to discuss things. This is such a step-up in care and service from our other primary doctors. Now both my husband and I have her as our primary doctors. Finally, and most importantly, she seems to be very competent and knowledgeable of all the latest medical issues. read more

I've been going to Dr. Kim for 5 years now. She's nice, but I always feel rushed. I have a medical condition that is difficult to diagnose and whenever I come back to Dr. Kim to explain my symptoms, etc. she brushes me off and denies it. It kind of comes off as demeaning, sadly. I'm just trying to figure things out, and she says "no" and leaves it at that - not suggesting anything else, not wanting to solve the problem and help me out. The reason I'm writing this review now is because I am officially switching doctors. I had told Dr. Kim of my family history and of symptoms, and she said there is no need to do full bloodwork (only the routine bloodwork that doesn't include my family history conditions). It doesn't make sense to me. She denied I had a condition and had no tests or proof to back her up. If you want a more thorough doctor, don't go to Dr. Kim. I'm sorry I usually don't write reviews like these, but I'm fed up after 5 years and not being diagnosed. A doctor is supposed to help you in need and not be condescending, so I'm looking elsewhere. read more

Dr Gloria Kim name was given to me by another doctor that I really liked my dr no longer took my insurance and where I was told to go I did not like at all So I thought why not and when I met her she was Number 1 in my book even though she has moved to Torrance and it is a much longer drive for me 65miles one way I do not plan on giving her up she is through caring read more
