This is the only doctor I have ever met of which I have so much contempt for, my last visit with him I was having severe issues with Sinusitis and had seen his associate doctor at least twice before Finally getting an appointment with Dr Michael Borovay, I was feeling extremely worn out and frustrated and maybe even a little bit down, just after Michael Borovay walked into the room I was waiting in a client called me on my cell, this is a wealthy client that was referred to me, I am a sales professional and I immediately perked up for the call and Dr Borovay began feverishly typing on his keyboard and when I ended the call I was on Dr Borovay was still typing, when he finished he got up, he gave me some kind of a psychological diagnosis and walked out of the room, he Never addressed the issue I was there to see him for which was my sinusitis. Yesterday I called to see if I could get in to see him as my sinusitis is still giving my trouble, Micaela who has answered the phone told me, we have an opening now, you have 15 minutes and I arrived in about 12, Dr Borovay woukd not see me, I came back home and called my service provider to obtain a new doctor and I wouldn't take my dog to see Michael Borovay!!!! read more

Dr Borovay is very thorough and personable and takes his time with patients. He has a very friendly demeanor and his staff are conscientious. His office is in a suite shared by other doctors. Both times when I arrived the parking lot was full and I had to park at an adjacent lot which was not far away. The waiting room was comfortable although there was little privacy for people checking in and providing private information. It didn't matter to me, but might have to a lady who tried to whisper about her diabetes and could be clearly overheard from 15 feet away. Back to Dr Borovay, he brings his assistant into the examination room and she takes notes during the exam. The patient gets a copy following the exam which I found, in my case, redundant but probably useful for busy or forgetful people. It's also a protection for the doctor so that a patient doesn't claim later "You didn't tell me that!!" The medical office and the exam rooms were very clean and modern. It was a pleasure seeing this doctor who is now my primary care physician. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Micahel Borovay and used to think that he may be a promising good doctor. What I found out was that if you try and ask for any convenience items, such as have the Pharmacy contact him to refill a prescription he will deny it. Even though this is a standard prescription I had for over 10 years. This doctor is so uncaring that when I called to complain about the lack of service I had received, he unceremoniously dropped me as a patient stating that he could no longer be my doctor. Wow, this is a first. I have met all kinds of physicians in the past, but this one takes the cake. I would choose another doctor rather than going to someone so temperamental. With the rich sea of physicians out there, this is one barnacle you don't want stuck on your ship. read more

I switched to this doctor a few moths ago after finding out my Dr. had retired. I must say I am pretty happy working with Dr. B. He really takes time with each patient and tries to help no matter the issue. He is generous with his referrals as some doctors will refuse or say its not necessary. He was even willing to run tests recommended by a different out-of-network specialist. I was so relieved he was willing to run those tests because it would have cost a ton to have the out-of-network doctor do them. So he gets 5 stars and i've been pleased so far... Only issue i've run across is longgggg waits in his office. Like 1-1.5 hour waits, yuck! read more

Doctor Borovay listens to you when you are in the office but .... the wait is just not worth it. It took a whole week to get an appointment. Then it took another 1+ hour to get your own appointment. One time I was waiting for the result and left a follow up voice message with the doctor but I didn't get an answer until two days after. It seems that it's a very common practice in that office. The head of nurse can be rude. I'm a patient with questions because I'm concerned about my health and test results. But I got shut up and even was given an warning. It certainly doesn't make a patient feel any better with no response from the doctor's office. Doctor Borovay may be a good person off work but the management and staff make me feel that this office doesn't care me enough as a patient. read more

My wife and I have been treated by Dr. Borovay for a variety of medical issues over the last ten years. We consider him to be our primary physician. We have never had a problem getting an appointment in a timely manner or doing a walk-in. He has renewed prescriptions over the phone or through our pharmacy any number of times. I have absolutely no idea why a few of these reviewers had issues with Dr Borovay or his staff, but I would hazard that they themselves are the problem, not Dr Borovay and his team. We have referred 10 other patients to Dr Borovay over the years and they are all extremely pleased to have Dr Borovay as their physician. He is a true professional that listens intently to everything a patient says and then takes positive medical action. He is also a caring physician with the best "bedside manner" of any physician I've ever encountered. read more

I am really surprised to read a couple of negative reviews of Dr. Borovay. I have been a patient of his for over 10 years and he's without a doubt the best doctor I've ever had. He is very patient, does not rush you out of the door, listens to your concerns and takes the time to fully explain treatment options. I've never had a problem getting a prescription filled by phone. Dr. Borovay truly cares about his patients. When I had a severe colon infection a few years ago, not only did he quickly and accurately diagnose it, but called ahead to the hospital to let them know I was en route. He even called during my treatment to get an update on my condition. My only regret is that I now live in Northern California and cannot use his practice any more. Two thumbs way up for Dr. B....he is outstanding! read more

At times it can be hard to get a last minute appointment, but they also have a walk-in/urgent care clinic next door and Dr. Borovay works there on Saturdays. I had to change my PCP due to an experience with a rude, uncompassionate, and dangerous physician previously. I hated to make a change, but I've found a jewel of a doctor in Dr. Borovay. He takes his time, doesn't act rushed or inconvenienced, and he has an excellent bedside manner. I'd recommend him to my dear sainted mother, were she still with us. New to SoCal and needed a PCP for a somewhat "delicate" matter. Asked around, and was recommended to Dr. Borovay by a friend of a friend. Holy of holies, he was in my network, and I managed to get an appointment for the very next day. The office staff were kind all around - small plus - but the Doctor is why you come. Dr. Borovay was honestly the most affable (don't see that one much in medicine, do you ?) doctor I'd ever seen. He listened to what I had to say, explained what he _thought_ it might be, asked a bunch of follow-up questions, then drew me a picture of his preliminary diagnosis on that weird thin sterile paper they have on the examining table. Very cool. Diagnosis was quick after a very easygoing exam (told you this was a delicate matter), and he offered what I took to be a genuine availability for followup questions - on the spot or via phone later. Oh, and he prescribed me a generic drug. Points awarded. That's the long review. The short review goes like this: If one of your nuts (or both, I suppose) hurt, Dr. Borovay is the man to see in the southbay. Clarification: He is a PCP, not a urologist. I tracked Dr. Borovay down from a clinic in Redondo where he used to practice and I've always been happy with him as a doctor, at the point when I'm in the room with him, but for whatever reason, his office/medical group situation always makes it a nightmare to work with him. Last time I went in I waited 3 hours to see him. Sinus infection and cough, nothing unusual. He gave me a cough medicine prescription that was literally half the size i twas all the other times I went to him. I told him that for insurance reasons, as well as the convenience of not having to come in for a future cough, I would prefer he write it the usual size. He said he preferred to write the smaller but promised me that he would approve a refill if I called it in. So, last Wednesday I called it in. Probably 6 months after I saw him the last time. It is Monday, and after 6 days, my calling his office 3 times and the pharmacy faxing him 5 times, I called today and the nurse told me that he denied the refill. Said I had to come in. I dont have 3 hours to kill and I dont have time for doctors who dont keep their word. read more

The only reason I'm giving it one star is because I had to give it something I would not recommend this doctor case in point I ran out of my prescription Lipitor Dr borovay said I have to see him first I told him I was making an appointment for my wellness check he still refused to send the prescription he said I haven't seen him in quite some time so I needed to come in I understand that but he wouldn't even give me a maintenance on the prescription and plus when I try to make my appointment he was a month-and-a-half out this doctor would rather put my health at risk and with that being said he left me no more alternative but to fire him as my doctor read more

Dr. Borovay is one of the best doctors in Los Angeles County. Very understanding with all your problems, and extremely helpful. Also, he's a USC graduate for 20 years. So his experience with patients have been at a greatly large level, compared to those with only having a PHD for only five years of experience. If you are real with the doctor, because trust me. Doctors are not stupid.,. Well. maybe some, but not Dr. Borovay.Be honest and open when speaking with him. Practice EYE TO EE CONTACT. Dr. Borovay cares about his patients and will take the extra time for really sick patients, even if it cuts into his lunch. His nurse Rhonda cares too, and makes a great team with Dr. Borovay. Getting a same day appointment with Dr. Borovay is difficult, because he is so popular. read more

He has an excellent bedside manner, listens to you, and does his best to find treatments that work for you and your insurance (I had several options for one of my meds, and he searched until he found the cheapest one). He's drawn pictures to help me understand what's going on and even will show me simple exercises to help with pain issues. I also really like that I can contact him by email to see if I actually need to come in or if he can just make a recommendation via email. The office waits for appointments can be long, but it's not his fault that he only gets 15 minutes per appointment. I'd rather wait longer, knowing that he's trying to help his patients rather than rush them out to be on time. Also, his nurse Rhonda is amazing too. I often get "white coat syndrome" and my blood pressure spikes - but not with Rhonda. She's very friendly and caring. read more
