He's kind, compassionate, friendly, knowledgable - but most of all he really cares and treats you with the utmost kindness. This has to be the worst most inhuman doctor around! My mom had some sudden major pains in her leg and it's been TWO MONTHS! she has been here so many times along with the ER and urgent care. It took months of arguing to finally get an approval for an MRI. Dr Wu didn't seem too concerned with how much pain she's been in nor was anything urgent to him When results came back to him calling his office to get them was like pulling teeth! Instead of helping his staff suggested if she's in pain let her go to the ER! wow very professional!! No one was willing to call or even research the results! Fast forward, there are many issues with her leg including a torn meniscus and yet not a big deal. She can't walk and is in major pain and was told to take ibuprofen until she can see a specialist which will be in almost another month! We will definitely be filing a complaint! SHADY BILLING PRACTICE AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE are the two things that best describe this healthcare provider and facility. i made an appointment for a physical annual exam which my insurance covers at 100%. i had to wait for at least 2 months to be seen only to get a call 2 days before my appointment that they were going to cancel my appointment and the doctor will just do a phone appointment which to me didnt make sense because its a "physical" check up. i insisted to come in which they accommodated. this happened in july this year. what made my visit worse was when i was slammed by torrance memorial with almost $300 copay for an annual physical exam. i called my insurance company and they confirmed that annual physical visits are covered and that the doctor and torrance memorial billed it as a "diagnostic" visit instead of "preventive". my insurance company advised me to call the provider back to resubmit the claim and correct the billing code. i called the office to ask for an explanation in august. they said that the doctor did a "diagnostic" exam which explains why i had a high copay. i told them that was incorrect because i scheduled an annual physical exam. the lady i spoke with said they couldnt help me with the billing explanation so i decided to call the billing department and said that they couldnt do anything about it because thats how the provider wrote his notes. I message the doctor himself through the portal to no avail. my message was ignored with the attached invoice. the lady acknowledged that there was a mistake on their part. so i was told that she will have the manager call me back. i didnt get a call back in august. 2 months later, i received another bill from this provider. finally the manager named Hilda called me back for the first time. I was told that they billed it correctly and the doctor did a diagnostic exam because apparently i raised my health concerns which is normal in every physical exam. they still refused to correct the code and still didnt explain why they used such code when i made it clear to the doctor that i was there for a physical, he ordered the lab tests and asked if i have health concerns and my past medical history, which i answered truthfully. and because i did answer truthfully, it was billed as diagnostic. was i supposed to say i dont have any health concerns? i have seen other doctors and this wasnt my first physical exam. he then proceeded to give me referral to other specialists. these are all normal things and procedure in every annual physical exams. I LEFT THE OFFICE WITHOUT DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DOCTOR AND NO PRESCRIPTION. so, what did he diagnose? i asked them to correct the bill so i can pay the correct amount of copay. i never asked them to waive the copay because if i had to pay something. i will. im not someone that would make time to write reviews online as i am always busy. but i was compelled to. Hilda the manager, was very unhelpful and all she did was forward me to people where i would get the same answers. i have given them 3 months to get back to me and multiple chances to make things right. not only this place and staff are hostile and unethical, they made it seem like i was lying which was very offensive to me. the lady i spoke with back in august (could be Marissa which by the way, another unhelpful staff, and a Jessica or a Sylvia - because according to Hilda, she doesnt know who wrote the notes when i asked for the name) noted that i refused to speak to anyone in the office and the billing department said the same thing. if that was true, how come i waited 2 more months and even took the initiative to message the doctor himself in august and still i was ignored? go check the portal and you will find my ignored message in there. all i wanted was to understand why the doctor billed me the way he did. but the staff, the billing department and the manager Hilda said that they wouldnt change the billing code and everything was done correctly. if this is how this provider and facility work, SO BE IT. but this is the same exact reason why Americans lose faith and trust on the country's health care system and its a shame that a big medical facility such as Torrance Memorial operate this way. i will not recommend this doctor, facility and staff. the staff have jobs because of patients like us who patronize this facility. but if you dont like what you do and the things you have to deal with as part of your job responsibilities, Torrance Memorial should consider replacing these people. alot of people are capable of doing your jobs and hopefully this facility finds a team that will stay true to their mission and vision. cause until that happens "embracing the values of SERVICE, EXCELLENCE, KNOWLEDGE, STABILITY and COMMUNITY", is and will always just be a grandiose delusion. read more

Dr. Yu was assigned to my baby boy and I while I was recovering from a C-section at Hoag Hospital. From the first time he examined my son, he was a delight. He has a great bedside manner, was wonderfully gentle with the baby and he has no problems spending extra time with you to answer any questions you might have. (and being a first time mom, I had quite a few...) Fast forward a week to the baby's first checkup. We were greeted by his friendly front office staff and were taken to a room fairly quickly. While we were waiting, my boyfriend and I kept hearing giggles and shrieks of laughter from the other rooms. Normally not something you hear at a Dr.'s office! I know I was never excited to go to the Dr.'s when I was a kid! The kids and parents came out of the room with Dr. Yu right behind. The kids were still cracking up and Dr. Yu was still joking with them and it really made me happy to see that the kids seemed to love him so much! They got their stickers and gave him a hug before they left. He came into our room next and checked out our son. He addressed all of our concerns and made me feel so much better about everything I had been so worried about, like having to supplement my breatsmilk with formula. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything to us and we left very well informed. Unfortunately, a few days later, we got a call from his office staff who let us know that they don't accept Medi-Cal and it wasn't caught on our first visit that we were covered by Medi-Cal :( I'm so sad that we have to find another pediatrician. I'm even contemplating paying for office visits in cash... he's that wonderful. Do not see this doctor. Hubby and me have had toenail fungus issues. This doctor would not fill out a pre authorization form for my insurance to okay my Jublia. The Jublia was working. I called the insurance and he didn't fill in the part that asked if the patient has a immune system problem or other chronic condition. Yes in my chart I have fibromyalgia and arthritis which it clearly states. I have a low white cell count also. This doctor by his utter laziness has messed with my health now. Thanks to him the insurance now refuses me any prescriptions due to this problem. I even went down to the office and asked why the form wasn't filled out. One excuse after another. All he had to do was review my chart and send in the form and they would have filled the medicine. I spoke to my insurance company and now they know how he is. Money is more important here than doing the right thing to help out a nice patient. How shameful is this? Run in the other direction. read more

I should've written this review a few years ago when I first saw Dr. Yu after transferring from another doctor (who I was not happy with). First, the office staff. This office is run very efficiently. The staff is friendly and I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes which I really appreciate. Most doctors will have you sitting in the waiting room and then the treatment room for up to an hour! His nurse, May is also very sweet and patient. Dr. Yu has a great bedside manner: he is calm, patient and never seems rushed. A few years back, I had a lipoma on my neck but Dr. Yu had a problem getting approval from my insurance as they deemed it "cosmetic" because I had no signs of pain, discharge, etc. Dr. Yu didn't agree and could've accepted that but he didn't. He ultimately found another doctor who did get approval and who removed my lipoma without incidence. I highly recommend Dr. Yu. read more

I happened upon doctor Yu because I was a new patient trying to get an appointment with another doctor in his practice, however that doctor was out of town and I need to see someone quickly so I was assigned doctor yu. I am so happy that I found him. He is an amazing doctor that truly listens to every part of your story and tries to help you in anyway he can. I have since seen him multiple times and each time, although they are many months apart, I am asked about details from the prior visit or what has happened inbetween visits. I have never seen a doctor who is so on time, consistently, with appointments. He makes you feel completely comfortable and is 100% non- Judgemental. I cannot recommend him enough. I never had a PCP before bc I always considered them middle-men between myself and specialists (of which I already have one for every part of the body) however, he has proven to me how worthy he is of having in my life.
