Regular Spam Musubi Crunchy (5pc) Spicy California Roll (8pc)
Katelynn R.

Haven't been here in forever but it's just as good as I remember. Everything was made fresh and tasted delicious. Inside was clean with plenty of seating. They had a water station too which was nice. Service was nice and I didn't have to wait too long.

Praying to food tastes good because the ordering process was super painful.

Pricey and really weird service. Courteous guy but felt so uncomfortable ordering from here. I ordered Miso Soup and tastes different from what I had and not in a good way way. They could not answer any of my questions about some of the food orders and the taste was Meh. The appearance was also meh. Will be coming here again. They were nice. Just their product was just not that good in tastes or appearance. I'm so upset that I wasted my twenty dollars here.

Quick service. Consistent real food. Better option than fast food in the area. Vegetable tempura, spicy chicken, and sesame chicken. And easy quick go to for under $20

California Sushi Roll (8 Pieces)

Rice Things is our go-to when no one feels like cooking but we still want to feel like we made a good choice. The combo plates are the real MVP--crispy katsu, tasty teriyaki chicken, and salmon that's surprisingly on point for a casual spot. The sushi rolls blow are fresh, solid, and never let us down. It's affordable, easy for pick-up, and consistently good. Basically, it's the kind of place you hope sticks around forever.

Hamburg steak + Karaage + Vegetable Tempira + Potato Mac

Wow blast from the past! Rice Things was one of my very first reviews back in 2009 from early Yelp days. I actually got a good giggle from reading my review of the $5.54 combo plates. That was definitely back in the day! Fast forward to 15 years later and here I am once again writing about Rice Things combo plates. I was impressed back then and here I am still quite impressed. Rice Things combo plates are still quite the deal. Combo plates are now $12.95 for two items and $15.95 for 3 items. The 3 item combo is actually quite a lot of food and perfect for two meals or more. I chose to get the Hamburger Steak, Chicken Karaage and Vegetable Tempura along with the two sides of white rice and Potato Mac Salad (potato mac is an extra $1.50). The food was on point and I was impressed with the generous serving! I liked how crispy the Vegetable Tempura was and how flavorful the Chicken Karaage was. The Potato Mac Salad was also quite delicious and reminded me of Hawaii. The Hamburger Steak was my least favorite and I will probably pass on this next time. I didn't really care for the sauce they put on top and thought it was too sweet. I am so happy that through the years; Rice Things has maintained their good portions and good food! This is definitely a must stop when in Redondo Beach.

Always a good spot to hit. Good combos, good quality. Came here since moving over from Hawaii and it reminded me a lot of the plate lunches from home. They also have curry plates, ramen, and udon.

So let me start of with saying this place has been my go to since I was a kid. Love love this place but they have gotten so cheap with everything. It is so disappointing honestly. The staff is kind, the AC is non existent and it was 90 degrees out. Portions have gone down so much. The food was still semi tasty but not as much as before. But the price to what you get now.. just not it. So disappointed might need to start looking elsewhere.

I looked up spam musubi and Yelp recommended this place. Fried spam musubi, a new one for me. A had to order and I'm glad I did.

This business has redeemed itself after a temporary fail when it changed ownership in late 2019.

Kagura lived up to the expectations I had for amazing katsu. I tried their pork loin and was transported back to Tokyo! The breading is perfect and the meat still stays perfectly juicy. All the food is super fresh and tasty. I loved the interior of the restaurant too because there are separate booths that are super private and perfect for a group of 4. All our servers were super attentive and kind. Will definitely be back here!!

I finally gave this place a try and one thing is certain, I will be back - again, again, and again :) Kagura has a small parking lot in the back that tends to fill up quickly, but there's an abundance of street parking. I came to this establishment to find two parties of 3 in already waiting by the door and for the staff to let them in. Totally understand why. Upon walking in, you're transported to Japan, this spot definitely has a unique, homey, quaint charm to it. Agedashi Tofu: 4.8/5 - I wasn't expecting the portion to be large so if I get this again, I'll make sure to bring a friend Millefeuille Shisho Cheese Katsu: 5/5 - Made with meticulous care. An incredibly well-balanced dish with the protein, cheese, and what I believe to be a shiso/perilla leaf incorporated. Crunch was perfect, lots of places tend to overdue it with the batter. This tasted so good it honestly didn't need the tonkatsu sauce (still delish with or without the sauce). Service is phenomenal. I was impressed to see two people essentially taking care of my entire section as the restaurant filled up during the dinner rush. No issues with arrival of food or the pacing. The staff was warm, cordial, and proactively asked if I had questions since I told them it was my first visit. I'm looking forward to coming back in the future and will definitely save some room for beer and/or dessert.

Premier find for excellent Japanese cuisine. My girlfriend and I came here for an early Saturday…read moredinner after a day on the water in Long Beach. When we arrived luckily there was no wait and were sat immediately. Luckily it was only a couple moments before a party of maybe 12 arrived behind us for dinner. Our host and server were helpful and efficient. We quickly scanned through their menu and decided on their combos (pork cutlet and tempura) Our trays of paradise quickly arrived and looked beautiful! ( see attached for reference ) i loved the balanced presentation and blend of flavors. Each tray had some miso, a 4 bite California roll, some rice, soba noodles, broth, wasabi and ginger. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. While I was exactly stuffed after dinner, i was still impressed with their entree presentation, quality of food, calming ambiance and great service.

It's like a mix and match of chicken, tempura, soba or udon, with rice, salad and miso. I love those types of options and this place does that well. We went on a Sunday for lunch. Busy! You just stand in line. No reception or list. I think that's awkward. Need something to manage the wait. It's odd. Service is friendly. The food can take awhile to come out. It's also not the type of place where they will check-in on you or refill your water. You have to yell out. Big parking lot with lots of stores to shop around too.

Food is a 4 stars, but because of the excellent staff service, 5 stars. We ordered: Mune kizokuyaki - chicken breast all spice (tare may be a better choice, but my husband wanted to try mixed spices since it was different) Unagi (eel) Teba (chicken wings) Very flavorful Ebi (shrimp) the head and shell were left on, so won't order it again as it's too much work to remove the shell and fingers get dirty) Tsukune (chicken meatballs) Beef harami steak with mashed potatoes & cabbage- only $2 more to add side mashed & cabbage Tori Q (marinated cucumbers) Agedashi Tofu Houjicha pudding for dessert (loved it) Drinks : houijicha tea and Sapporo beer Overall, for the price and the size, it's well worth it. Again, had better yakitori's elsewhere, but serving size is much smaller, so you end up ordering more; which means more $$$$. Service was also amazing and food came out quick. Our favorite picks are: Unagi, teba, tsukune, beef harami, & Tori Q cucumbers. Will come back again for sure to try other skewers/apps. I will definitely order the chicken breast/green onions in tare sauce next time as opposed the mixed spices. In summary, I highly recommend to check this place out and experience the great ambiance and service.

You have to get the Yuzu Sapporo. I loved it, especially paired with the chicken skin. Perfect match. The service was great; the waiter came by and gave me a full run-through of how the menu works. Here's the breakdown: Ramen: Must-get. Grilled Ground Chicken Rice Bowl: Must-get. Fried Seared Chicken Skin Chips: Do get! Kizoku Yaki (Thigh w/ Teriyaki): Do get! Shiitake Skewer: Skip. It was small and kind of dry. I walked out super satisfied. I feel for the people who were disappointed because they've been to other locations after the fact, but I noticed the menu is already changing (saw a couple of updated editions), so hopefully they keep growing. I'd attribute my good experience to the responsive waiter, getting seated immediately at the bar, and the fact that I crushed it with my order. I'm already thinking about coming back because we really need more yakitori spots for those "in-between" stages, like a late lunch or a late- day cravings when you just want variety and small bites. That's exactly what a yakitori spot should be! It's smoky. Be prepared!

Taking a while for the six people to order so I nudged her and I asked her to move and she seemed upset that I did that but didn't say anything no apology so it was very uncomfortable and I was rushing through my food so I burnt my tongue on the hot soup again even though I knew it was hot because I just wanted to get out of there. And then when I was done, I had to wait a while for the check and then they couldn't process the Apple Pay at the table so then I had to go to the front and wait for somebody to attend to me there overall this experience was not fun and stressful and I had got there right when they opened. I sure wish I had selected a different seat!! I wouldn't get the Nabeyaki soup again. It was really big and had a lot of end pieces of tough napa cabbage. There were two pieced of shitake mushroom and the standard thin fish cake slice. There was and egg in the soup and a three small chicken pieces. On the side were three small pieces of green bean and two tempura shrimp.
