I'd been wanting to try Rice for a while, since I love the concept of a Mediterranean build-a-bowl (and feel that South FL has lacked options for it compared to other large metro areas). I finally made it in and unfortunately, left a little disappointed. It's possible I just ordered poorly, but the chicken I chose for my protein (I believe it's called the "slow-cooked chicken") was shredded a little too finely for my liking and had a hard-to-describe flavor I don't typically associate with Mediterranean food. Also, it was served at a tepid temperature, further diminishing the experience. But when I came here to pickup for somebody, I shockingly noticed how GOOD the food actually looked while somebody was getting service. I visited RICE for the 3rd time today and they have yet to disappoint. The food is tasty, flavorful and always fresh. I always get the Chicken Joojeh platter. I order mine with no hummus, extra sumac dressing and I also add an avocado. The staff is nice and they are super helpful when you're unsure about a menu item or you ask them for suggestions. Service is a 10/10 for sure. They are pretty quick with getting your order ready on time. The ambiance is chill and comfortable. You can dine in if you want and you can also place your order to-go. I go to physical therapy in the plaza where this restaurant is located. I noticed it when I stopped by the market next door. I walked in and because I had never been there before I asked where do I place my order. The guy fixing the food rudely says it depends on what you are ordering and points to where to stand. There were 2 people in front of me. There was one guy plating the food and he was so slow packing to go orders, uber orders and folks waiting for their order. I stood in like for over 30 minutes and the 2 people in front of me still hadn't placed their order, so I left. I will not return very rude. read more

Ah, the food of my people! I'm so glad Rice is within a somewhat-decent driving distance to work, because I love the idea of a fast-casual Persian restaurant where I can get a delicious, filling lunch at a quicker pace. I always get either the koobideh (ground beef) kabob with rice, or the chicken kabob with rice. It's a generous serving, and both kinds of kabobs are of similar quality to sit-down Persian restaurants. The chicken kabob consists of chicken breast pieces marinated in lemon, saffron and other spices. It's rather easy to under-marinate the chicken so it ends up bland, but not here - it's quite flavorful! As for the koobideh, I always ask for it to be well-done (I can't eat pink ground beef, it weirds me out) - besides, having a bit of a char on it gives it a good flavor! Both kinds of kabobs come with white rice (with a bit of yellow saffron rice on top), and a little cup of their sumac dressing. Get more of that dressing, because it goes great on EVERYTHING. It's funny, I've never seen sumac dressing at any other Persian restaurant (even my dad, who is from Iran, had never heard of it before), but it's so yummy. On each table, they have shakers of sumac itself, which are dried red berries that are ground into a coarse powder. It gives your food a bit of a tart kind of zing. I will say that their lunch specials aren't a great deal in my mind. You get less meat and rice, because it also comes with a salad and a scoop of hummus. The salad is just okay, but let me tell you something about hummus - it's not a typical dish made or consumed in Iran (neither is falafel, by the way). You'll see plenty of Persian restaurants with it on the menu, but that's because most people just lump all Middle Eastern cuisine together and expect it. So that being said... the hummus here isn't very good. If you're between a regular platter or a lunch special, and are edging toward the latter because of the hummus, this is your warning. Another item on the menu you should probably skip: their must-o-kheyar, which is a yogurt dip made with cucumber, dill, garlic and other spices. Now I LOVE this dish at other restaurants, but I really don't like their version here. It's very watery when it should be a thicker consistency. And their pita bread is just a regular store-bought wheat bread... nothing to write home about. Stick to kabobs and you'll be happy :) I have since converted multiple co-workers into liking this place... some of whom had never had Persian food before. One person still hasn't actually visited, but orders from here frequently on Uber Eats now after seeing my meal one day. What the heck happened to this place? I heard the brothers precook some food in a warehouse and reheat to speed the process. 1st the place on 144th and Biscayne is filthy, garbage pails filled and the tables, are greasy. It's like they are just wiped and not cleaned. No hand sanitizer anymore.i guess that got expensive. Now to the food, I used to love this place, the Rice was over cooked and clumpy with over cooked dried out pieces mixed in. The salad was loaded with lettuce and less other vegetables it used to be. The chicken my friend and I got in our platters where dry. First time I never finished, when the girl at the counter saw I was taking pictures she ran out and started a little cleaning..but the best was it seemed her baby daughter (worker) was in the store today (Sunday) and when we sat down with our food she came over to us and was looking at our food like she hadn't eaten in days. The counter girl who was her mother, then handed her a squished old sandwich from a zipper bag. This isn't going to stop the FIU university crowd from coming here, and swearing it's the bomb..The owner and the family of brothers are not changing their policy back to like it was , they have made a ton of money and they have a regular following, because of what it was,but if you see this review, you could go there, look around at the orders and overflowing garbage pails, dirty tables and floor, and find out for yourself, the probably walk out. I was on the fence about a 3 or 4 star, so I am giving a very generous 3, with the hope that this location will move in the right direction, and that updates will earn them a 4th star. Let's start with the food- good for the price, ok portion sizes, and the food is placed aesthetically on the plate/container. Service also was very friendly and efficient. To go orders are well packaged. The menu is straightforward and not overly complicated. Here's what they need to do immediately to improve: 1) play background music; preferably some type of Persian theme. 2) remove all the signage and tint from the front windows. You don't know they're open and it gives off a dingy vibe. 3) replace missing lightbulbs. 4) take down the tacky pictures of the food on the wall and provide a written menu. 5 ) Expose/open the kitchen and relocate the ugly refrigerators to a rear wall. It shouldn't be a mystery what's happening in the back. 6) Improve dessert options. Not clear what is available. 7) use higher quality pita bread and provide a larger portion. 8) Overall, the place would benefit from a cleaner appearance. Been going to the location on Alton in South Beach and this one as well, but after finding some other better places with much better value, I'm out... I usually order the Chicken Breast, $10.34 that comes with rice. Usually it's 3-4 pieces of chicken breast and is around 6 ounces of meat. For this price, I'd rather go to Farofo next to Publix down the street for a better deal at $8.99, with 2 sides. A tightly curated menu of their best items. Took a bit to prepare (a long bit), which is a positive thing. Making it to order. Place is clean inside and utilitarian, with a clear photo menu on the wall explaining everything. We both had the chicken platter, which comes with salad and rice (I thought hummus also, but no).
