A real restaurant. It's been years since I've gone to one of these establishments, I've noticed how they popped up around South Florida, but at first it was more of the Peruvian flavor I fell in love with from family dishes. I used to frequent one in Hallandale Beach with my grandmother who used to love their shrimp soup. I haven't been back to any of them since her passing in 2021. All I have to say is, that it has the same nostalgic feel to my childhood at similar places, with the quality of the food that surprisingly hasn't gotten worse, it's what I'd expect of a place like this. Not too costly and not too luxurious, perfect for a nice solo-dinner after work. Back before COVID, I would ask for huancaina sauce, which I understand now over the years they do not have it available at any given point, but the cashier went above and beyond and made it possible for me to add it to my plate. I started to shed tears as I ate because despite being in a booth alone, it felt for the first time in years my grandmother was sitting in front of me, eating with me. When I tried to correct my order the worker started raising her voice and giving a lot of attitude. My husband's favorite place to eat! This time I was with my Peruvian friend. I was wondering if she approves this place. She wanted to try several things. So, we ordered the seafood sampler. It came with fried shrimp, fried fish chunk, fried calamari, and fish ceviche. In the middle of the plate, there was mayo to enjoy with food. She also wanted to try seafood soup. Even though both of us were hungry, we could barely finished the food. It was plenty. All foods were delicious as always. My Peruvian friend was impressed too. She even took some food to go. Stopped by for the drive thru. The line was relatively quick and the food was good for "fast food". I ordered both chicken and steak and they were both a bit dry by the time I got home to eat, so maybe something worth considering if you're planning on getting food to go. First off, I should have written this review about two weeks ago but I didn't have the energy to. Writing reviews is a lot of work, I see why I'm not an Elite. I thought I was cut out but I'm not. Anyhoooo, let's get into this review. On this day, I wanted to eat something semi healthy so I chose La Granja. I feel like La Granja is way better than Pollo Tropical any day. When I go to this restaurant, which is not often, I always end up ordering the half chicken combo. It includes, half a chicken obviously, black beans, white rice, sweet plantains and a drink. I think it cost me around $13, I'm not sure exactly but it's around that price range. This plate is enough to make two full meals out of. The chicken wasn't dry, the black beans had flavor and even the white rice had a bit of a flavor as well. This location has a drive through for those who are like me, too lazy to go inside to order. As for the workers inside, the drive thru lady looked like she did not want to be there at all, no greetings or a smile on her face. All and all, I would return because the food is good. Great food at an affordable price. They have a 1/4 chicken lunch special with white rice, black beans and a drink Monday thru Friday that has been my go to for years. And all for $6 give or take. Don't forget to grab yourself a couple sides of their specialty white sauce (highly recommend). With this being a chain restaurant, you never really know what to expect. For one, you can expect a line during their lunch hours almost every time and for good reasons. You can also call in your order ahead of time and pick it up instead of waiting in line. I have never been so disrespected at an establishment in all of my 44 years of life! If I could rate this poor excuse for a restaurant less than 1 star... I would! I arrived home, sat at the table and was ready to dig in when I discovered there were no rice or beans included in my meal. Foodies... let's be clear... I would never pay $14.45 for a frozen fish fillet and yuca fries without my beloved rice or beans. I packed the dinner up and drove back to the restaurant and could not believe how I was received. I asked the man at the window for my rice and beans, he said no! I ask him for my money back, he said no! I asked him if this was a corporate owned restaurant? He pointed to the number on the restaurant's menu... the same number that I called twice before going back and they ignored my calls. I have never been so appalled by the disgusting display of customer service I experienced tonight. The so-called "Manager" had no interest in correcting the problem or retaining a customer! My experience should have been a pleasant one. They should have apologize for the mistake and offer me the rice and beans... then asked me to come back. The "Manager" made an effort to correct the mistake. Instead he argued and tried to prove me wrong without a second thought as to the impression he was making as his workers were watching. I've ordered from several of these restaurants and this one in particular has to be one of the worst. I ordered a steak and white rice and I genuinely couldn't chew the steak from how hard it was. Spectacular, locals recommend this great Peruvian restaurant in what looks like an old Popeye's chicken location. Super busy at lunch. I asked for recommendations from patrons who told me to get the steak platter $10.99. It was served with rice and beans. The fixings bar has sauces, onions and lime. I love La Granja and this location has a more extensive menu that some of the others do. I normally get the chicken or Palomilla. They have various dipping sauces, which I recommend the yellow one with the onions. The place is kind of small, but still has sufficient seating. I really like this restaurant chain but this location is a little bit behind the other I have visit. If you order the regular number 1 or 2 you won't see a difference, but when you order for example the jalea you'll see a difference. I've been to the one on Pembroke, 2 in Hialeah and 1 in Miami garden so I'm comparing to this ones. Another thing you could smell the bathroom odor from the table which it was uncomfortable. Though not as large of a location as their 163rd street store (and as a result, you will also find a smaller parking lot), the food is just as great. This is a more upscale version of fast food in comparison with Pollo Tropical, and their chicken is definitely juicier and tastier than what you get at that aforementioned establishment. Their menu is also varied, containing beef, fish, pasta, pork, and even seafood! You have more options than Pollo in choosing whether you want your chicken sauteed or grilled, and the food still comes out pretty quickly. There's also a drive-thru, if you want to do takeout. Prices are decent, and they have great lunch deals that are as good or better than Pollo's. NPS = 8 Do not judge it based on the exterior...the inside is very clean. What I like about this Granja is that the chicken is on the grill and not rotisserie like other Granjas. It's really confusing and goes against everything you learn in B-school concerning consistency and synergy, but somehow Granja makes it work how each shop is different. Some have rotisserie, some have grill, all have different condiments at their station. Lunch special is 1/4 dark meat, rice and beans for $4.45. Crazy awesome deal. Anyway, make sure to come in ready to wait because it is always packed for lunch. They also have home made alfajores for sale at the counter. And apparently now they are private labeling their own maracaja, mango, and other various juices. The chicken meals are always seasoned and cooked to perfection. you always have a variety of choices as sides, my favorites are the plantains with rice and beans. In addition, my favorite dish for dinner is the "Ceviche". I can't get enough, my taste buds are complete satisfied!
